“Have known of hotel for years and the exterior has sometimes looked a little tired. I was pleasantly surprised by the internal decor etc. The staff were very helpful. Our rooms were excellent - far better than in much more expensive hotels in the area.Breakfast, again, was excellent.”

Very good reception on arrival. Had afternoon tea which was nice & cosy by fire. Room was lovely 4 poster & great surprise for my husband on our anniversary. Only negative comment was restaurent should have had nice soft music playing. Food was also very good.

Staff and service was excellent Food varied in quality - some of it was superb, most was very good one meal was disappointing (sunday night when hotel was quieter) the steak did not seem to match menu description (8oz fillet) and was overcooked (rare)

It was very easy to find,the location was wonderful just what we wanted for our weekend away. We had a four poster bed and the room was at the front of the hotel we enjoyed seeing the wildlife on the other side of the fence. We wuld both stay at this hotel again

Impressive building, great setting in New Forest, set back from main road, lovely room with Balcony, lounge and dining areas area very good, breakfast excellent, hotel staff friendly, courteous and unobtrusive.

Nice hotel, some elements look a little out dated but that can also be described as character! Room of good size, with good shower (although if you are tall then be prepared for slight flood as shower screen is a little low if you are not). We used the restaurant on one evening which had good quality food. Indoor pool facilities were good and very quiet on the days we stayed which was a bonus.

Excellent cutsomer service from the reception staff to te restaurant. Nice breakfasts. Comfortable beds. Great in-bath shower. Central location makes it a good base for a stay in the New Forest if you have a car / bicycle. Cricket on the lawn in the summer. Decor needs updating. In some areas it looked odd and would benefit from a sinle style rather than a mix of everything. Dinner in the restaurant was ood but not exceptional.

It's location and history On closer inspection hotel looked very tired. Needs painting Wouldn't describe it as a four star hotel. Definately wouldn't pay full price. Excellent location

Romantic place, lovely room Not a fan of the staff looking down on us, felt uncomfatable at times. The Lady in the lesuire centre and the Receptionist on arrival was very nice and freindly!

Breakfast was nice, towels were clean and shower worked. Rotten wood, old decor, uncomfortable bed, heating not allowed to come on until 4pm, kids running riot everywhere, balcony in middle of renovation, everything shabby and old. Awful.

The location, food and facilities Noisy maintenance on both afternoons in the room directly below ours. the restaurant service on the 2nd night was very disjointed and we had to wait for bread rolls to be baked before we could start to eat
