An excellent hotel in a great location. Very cosy, lovely rooms and a fantastic breakfast. We paid the extra for the superior double and it was very big and had a great four poster bed.
friendly staff bar area breakfast molton brown goodies
a little tatty in places no on site restaurant for dinner
Great staff and great location :)
Shabby decor in room, including damp patches on ceiling and walls, scuff marks on walls and furniture, toilet roll holder + soap dispenser only loosely tethered, window blind stained and ill fitted. Breakfast rather basic though cheerfully served. Verdict on hotel - could do better if someone was strenuously supervising the standards of maintenance and housekeeping. Very lovely staff though. Please note, the mojito cocktail needs a bit more research..
Lovely staff , very welcoming , room good size and gorgeous bathroom . Breakfast was lovely with lots of choice .
In the room it was such a shame , we paid for a superior room but it was far from this . the large ornate mirror had two pieces missing , painted furniture was grubby and in need to touching up , light fittings all very dusty with pieces missing too , mark on a pillow case , all blings were ripped on the side where the pull cord had warn the fabric , wallpaper had been placed over an old border looked very unprofessional . Also not enough milk and sugar , the mugs were cheap and nasty not making for a very nice cup of tea , surprised for such a nice hotel downstairs it was a let down .
Pet friendly. Friendly staff, lovely building and decor.
Shabby blinds that don't work, destressed furniture thats destressed!
Location and breakfast
Room was very cold, windows drafty. Reception area also very cold. Bedroom decor very shabby
Staff was really friendly and welcoming breakfast was really nice
Thought the room was basic for the money we paid
Good location close to centre
The room was thick with dust the bath was mouldy the bedding dirty and not value for money once we complained they offered us tickets as a sorry and this r
Advertised as a superior room. Which is unbelievable as what we got was a scruffy room that needed redecorating. Dirty walls, chipped paintwork, badly lit room and ripped curtains. We turned around and walked straight back out. When we told Receptionist we were leaving she made no effort to keep us or offer alternative room or discount.
Employees very friendly and good location
Room look very tired need refurbishing. Would have been good to have water in rooms. All curtains in room were ripped. Furniture chipped and breakfast area had heating issues which made it very cold and breakfast was not very warm and staff seem to be lacking when serving breakfast. Maybe have more staff on during breakfast time.
The location was good, ideal if you are having a shopping weekend.
The drapes around the 4 poster bed were tatty and ripped. The roman blinds were torn. The room was very dusty and there were ring marks on each bedside table from the cups from previous guests. We expected a clean room when paying £99 per night.
Hotel room was lovely we got upgraded to a suite. Very friendly reception staff and waitress. Warm and cosy hotel 5 minute walk to loads of restaurants and bars
The staff are really friendly. The breakfast menu is one of the best we have had and the beds are really comfy.
I cannot think of anything I did not like.
On arrival I was greeted to a lovely welcome by a very attentive lady who gave us lots of info of where to go and eat. The hotel is beautiful and the lounge and bar area is really warm and cozy with gorgeous comfy sofas. The room was a little tired but perfectly clean and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was very tasty and the service was faultless. Lovely staff I will definitely stay again.
Staff Breakfast Location
Large 4 poster bed which was very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. served very quickly by a friendly and attentive waitress. Location is ideal a short downhill walk to the town centre, shops, museums and the spa baths and pump room. Very handy for the Exhibition Centre if required.
Our room was right above the door where people from an office Christmas party gathered to smoke. They were very loud and a lot of strong language was used. I suggest the hotel set aside a smoking area away from the front door.
Didn't deal with many if the staff but the one we did speak to were polite and friendly. The room was huge and warm and the location is great just a 5-10 min walk to the town centre.
For the price I would have expected the room to be in a better stay of repair. The blind look like they are about to fall off the windows, 2 light bulbs had gone in the room and with the decor of the room being dark it felt very dingy. The bathroom didn't even look like it had been cleaned, there were signs of damp and mould and when I moved the soap bottles off the side of the bathtub there were soap scum rings that appeared to have been there for a while. Breakfast also finished at 10am which I thought was a bit early, especially on a Sunday. On the whole I was disappointed with what The Balmoral offer for the price thy charge.
The hotel is in a good location as I visit Harrogate a lot
The decorative state of the rooms needed to be looked at, nothing a bit of TLC wouldn't do!
helpful, friendly staff, good breakfast nice quiet area considering so near town centre. Requested extra pillows which arrived as soon as asked for. I think the faded ripped blinds and dark decor would have been off-putting if we had been staying for more than one night. A little T.L.C. and this could be such a lovely hotel
dated, faded decor, no lift - very difficult with any sort of disability. Plumbing was a nightmare, couldn't get a hot shower and all the taps seem to work on a "back to front" basis.
Friendly staff, nice environment. Comfortable bed and pillows
Towels were not very clean unfortunately and managent may need to consider replacing them.
The services were good and the staff were approachable, kind and very helpful at all times. The mechanism for hot water for shower can be made easy to operate. To consider making supper available at the hotel.
Great greeting on arrival with friendly helpful attention from the staff throughout our 2 night stay.
décor in the lobby and rooms staff friendliness location and quietness parking at the weekend is free on the street
bathroom décor didn't match the room.
Very friendly and helpful staff
Despite requesting a twin room ended up with a double bed so had to share with my friend. Apparently twin double now means a double?!
