Staff were pleasant and helpful and the breakfast was very good. En-suite facilities were very cramped and would prove difficult to use if the visitor is an older person or on the large size. However, if the visitor is neither then it is ok as long as you don't expect a room size facility. |

The classical music during breakfast. The heating is shut off at night so the room gets freezing. There is a charge for late check in and no postponing for the check out at 10am. |

The Bruntsfield area - it's lovely. Breakfast was nice. Staff were very friendly. Late arrivals are not catered for, breakfast has to be ordered the night before and the breakfast timings are too restrictive. Not a destination for a leisurely start to the day. |

I found the staff effecient and friendly. The room was very comfortable and the food good. I had been upgraded at no extra charge into a double room. I wasn't able to see how to open the window to get fresh air in and consequently was too hot over night - that's preferable, however, to being too cold, especially in November in Edinburgh!! |

Balmore Guest House was comfortable, the rooms were a good size. The staff were extremely friendly and suggested places to visit. The breakfast service was excellent and the service was impeccable. The bathroom in the room was absolutely tiny, there was barely any room to turn around. The location of the hotel was a just a little too far out from Princes Street/city centre. It was fine walking once, but if you were going out for dinner, you needed to get a cab. |

The Family room was very nice and spacious. It was just what we needed. The guesthouse was perfect walking distance to where we wanted to visit. Yes, we felt the 'En-suite' was more like a cubby hole or boxed off section of the room. It was far too small. Also the breakfast staff were rushing us at our breakfast each morning and we felt they were quite rude. |

The location was very good - a relatively quiet road and about a 20 minute walk to the centre of Edinburgh. The breakfast was also good, but a little more variety would have been welcome for those who are staying more than a couple of nights. Customers should be aware that the entire payment for your stay is required before you get the key to your room. Also a 4* guesthouse will not have the same standards as a 4* hotel... |

Characterful room, friendly staff and really excellent breakfast with smoked salmon and fabulous coffee. Tiny en-suite shower/toilet in single room only had broken fold-up door. |
