Situated in Torquay, the heart of the English Riviera, this family-run hotel provides the perfect base from which to explore the surrounding Devonshire coast and countryside.
The Bancourt Hotel aims to offer an oasis of calm and tranquility, a place to escape from the pressures of life and relax in clear sunlight and the gentle sea breeze. This wonderful ambience is complemented by the on-site facilities, including an indoor heated swimming pool, large private garden, well-equipped function room, bar and dance floor.
With ample free off-road parking, friendly and dedicated staff and regular live entertainment, the Bancourt is the perfect place to enjoy all that the English Riviera has to offer.
Restaurant, Bar, 24-Hour Front Desk, Garden, Non-Smoking Rooms, Rooms/Facilities for Disabled Guests, Elevator, Heating, Gay Friendly, All Public and Private spaces non-smoking.
The heated indoor pool offers relaxation after your excursions or a hard day's shopping in the town centre. It is approximately one metre deep, so doesn’t require you to be an Olympic swimmer to stay afloat. Early birds can swim from 07:00 through to 19:00.
Unfortunately, due to the age of the hotel, not all the rooms in the hotel are accessible by wheelchair (yet!), but there are ramps to the restaurant and a lift from the front entrance to reception and the first floor. Once in reception, you have easy access to the Cabaret Bar, which has disabled toilet facilities, and the pool area – please note that there are no hoist facilities or a ramp into the pool itself. Parts of the garden are accessible by wheelchair.
If you have any mobility problems, it would be helpful if you inform the hotel at the time of booking before rooms are allocated.
For business events, the hotel provides a high-quality large-screen projector, (free for use), Wi-Fi internet and a PA system. The hotel can also tailor-make a conferencing package for you, including accommodation and hospitality service.
The main function room can accommodate up to 150 people, whilst downstairs there is a large pub-style function room, complete with stage, bar and dance floor, that can hold 120 people.
Star Cabaret Bar:
First-class entertainment awaits you most evenings. Regulars include Peter Baffles, a comedic magician, vocalists Jonathon Marks and Nigel Lee, Anita Kinglsey and Moonraker, both comedy/vocals, to help you dance the nights away. All of entertainment is always free to guests.
The Avenue Bar:
The more intimate Avenue Bar has its own dance floor and comfortable lounge style seating. This is where the very popular Rock n Roll and Soul nights are held.
The chef prides himself on offering a wide range of mouthwatering dishes using local produce where he can. His specialties are fish, which is always offered as one of the daily choices, and home-made soups.
During the day, sandwiches are available from reception.
If you have any special dietary requirements, please inform the hotel at the time of booking so they can make suitable arrangements.
All of the hotel’s 52 comfortable rooms are well-equipped with all the modern comforts and facilities you need in a restful, relaxing base. Whether you are exploring the region as a tourist, visiting the area on business or attending a conference, these peaceful rooms provide a relaxing haven.
Torquay is known as the jewel of the Riviera and rightly so, with pubs and bars, a wide range of restaurants and shops, Torquay has something for all tastes. The hotel is also just a short stroll away from the beach.
Paignton and Brixham, which complete the English Riviera, are also found nearby.
There will be a 2% surcharge added by the hotel to all credit card transactions.
Please note that the hotel is non-smoking throughout.

The hotel appears to cater mainly for coach parties. The facilities as shown on the brochure were not available (swimming pool), and we were advised by the owner that it had not been serviceable for 3 week prior. He stated that the 'coach operators' had been informed? But the details on the website had not been updated.
