Excellent location in the centre of Edinburg, this hotel (and its related downstais bar) looks very nice with its historical references: photos in website are true!! A very warm welcome and always respectful of the clients' needs. Good the daily cleaning activity. Great great great scottish breakfast!!! Just the stairs are hard to climb with an heavy luggage or when you had drunk too much. |

We liked the Bank Hotel's location right on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh and its creative decor, with each room decorated in honor of a famous Scotsman. |

The establishment was "tired" and little attention has been paid to the deteriorating decor. The shower cubicles were extremely small. Dust had collected in the bottoms of the cupboards and was never cleaned during my stay. There are a number of other criticisms which further reflect the poor standard of the accomodation. |

Its location at the centre of town - and access to transport and attractions within easy reach. Entrance through the bar and having to fight your way past bar clientele in order to gain access to the hotel room. - cleanliness of the room was poor, the net curtains were disgustingly dirty, toilet seat broken and could have caused an injury, windows filthy - decor very dark and tired |

I thought the hotel was in the ideal location, but it is not be suitable for the older generation as it has no lift. Had I known that I would not have booked it? |

Quirky rooms although as a couple on a romantic anniversty break was hoping to be allocated more romanatic room Bit of a battle to get to reception desk when bar is in full swing at night. Also staff let the cat out of the bag regarding surprise event that I had booked for my husband despite me sending them an email about it |

The hotel was wonderful. Our room was large, very comfortable. We had 1 flight of steps up over the pub but it was quite and comfortable, no matter what time it was. The staff was very helpful and very flexable. They had a 24hr awake staff so we could eat very early (before breakfast time), tea, coffee, cereal, fruit etc. (not hot food) and still make our plane. It was very convenient to everything! |

Location on the Royal Mile is excellent. The full scottish breakfast was really good. The Bank is also a pub open until 1pm but is open to residents 24 hours. You do get a lot of noise from the revellers until the early hours, however, they do have a second window inside which did cut down on a lot of the outside noise. There is no lift in the hotel. |

The hotel is very well located for the centre of Edinburgh which means you can walk everywhere from its front steps. The hotel staff were helpful and very friendly. The breakfast was served with good coffee and a smile! The only minus point was the long stairway one had to climb in order to reach the rooms. |

Exterior of the hotel 1. the bed's spring is broken and felt like decades old, 2. bed is not clean, caused my skin to feel itchy all night, could not sleep that night, 3. the next day, found out that both of my hands and my feet were bitten by lice, 4. WARNING: stay away from this hotel. Next time, I'd rather pay a bit more and stay at the Radisson next door. |

Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Room was well-appointed and comfortable. Delicious breakfast included in the price of the room. Location was perfect for getting a quick (two-day) impression of the old city of Edinburgh. The noise coming up from the bar was quite loud the first night we were there, but was not a problem at all the second night. |

Daniel the manager was very helpful. He found out about disabled parking for us, took our bags up to the room, recommended an excellent local restaurant. The breakfast was good although the cereal and juices that should have been laid out weren't. The room was interesting - we were in the Robert Louis Stevenson room - the famous scots theme is an excellent idea. The room was a tight fit. The furnishings, although fitting with the theme were too large and it was difficult for two people to move around the room comfortably. The price reflected the location and actually the atmosphere of the hotel is of a Pub B&B. There isn't a formal reception and there are a lot of stairs to get to the rooms (no lift). |

Quirky room design and hotel theme. Huge room and very central location. Bed was too firm and there's no lift so it's not suitable for the elderly or young families. There was karaoke in the bar at night. |

Location was fantastic, rooms were a good size and very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. Accessing the hotel through the bar late on Friday night isn't great - if the hotel could provide a side entranct it would be brilliant - there is a door there. |

We loved our suite - the Robert Burns Suite- with the huge bathroom and we also loved the generous hearty breakfasts ( good vegetarian options available). We had no delays and the breakfasts arrived on time served by very friendly staff. We enjoyed the sounds of music from the bar and were never kept awake by noise. The shower head and the soap and shampoo facilities were not detachable, which meant you had to stand up in the bath, and as there was no safety mat or rail, it meant you had to be very careful. |

Due to bad weather and a change in plans, my husband made the booking over the internet for myself and my teenage daughter as we arrived in Edinburgh late at night. He chose the Bank Hotel as it had a late check-in. We were not sure what we'd find, but we were welcomed by very friendly, helpful staff, who offered to carry our suitcase up the three flights of stairs to our room. |
