The location At 3 times the price of a travel lodge it was a bit basic, old fashioned and there were some strong odours of cleaning materials possibly used to overcome the smell from wet clothes and equipment used by hikers, fishermen and climbers.

I was worried about this accomodation as from the descriptions and photo's it appeared to be at the lower end of the spectrum of accomodation but whilst it was not luxury it was very very clean. we were welcomed by staff and made to feel at ease with the freedom to come and go as we please. Breakfast was not included but Morrison's and other establishments are close by, and the range of shopping and eateries are within easy reach, for whatever meal you may wish to take. Whilst the room was basic, it was very clean, kettle - tea/coffee provided etc. Just a word of warning from people from the low-lands. (and anyone with mobility issues) this establishment is on an extreme hill. Having said all that I would still recommend it to anyone who wanted a quick stayover for a day or two. (we were going on the Jacobite Express train.), as it is so central for all the trips etc.

Reasonably priced clean and well located in the town of Fort William for exploring the area and Ben Nevis. Can't recommend The Stables Restaurant enough.Plenty and good quality food, situated just below the inn. No complaints, had an enjoyable stay.

Hostel type accomodation. Unpretentious and great value. Very clean, and bed was comfortable. Don't expect to be pampered. Might be noisy at times, but not on my visit

The room was clean, large enough for a couple with a child (we had a room with both a double and a single bed) and everything you expect from your basic hotel was available - sheets, towels, complimentary shower gel. We were originally booked into a double room but the receptionist offered to change us to a family room with more space which was a pleasant surprise. There was a bit of a raucous outside my window at 2 o'clock in the morning - being as it's a hostel I guess young people drinking is to be expected. Considering they operate a 24 hour reception I didn't hear anyone trying to move them on or quieten them down. However I do stress that this may have been a one off incident and we only stayed one night as touring, so I do not have another night to compare to. I would not let this put me off booking at this hotel again.

Staff were very polite and friendly and were available round the clock. There were no issues with returning late at night, arrangements were made to let you in. Parking was available at the hotel. The hotel was only 5 minutes walk from the town centre.

Only positive sides: cleanliness and proximity to high street It's actually a hostel, supposedly 3 star, but the double rooms should be rated as 2 star: the furniture, furnishings and decor are very dated and scruffy, our room (no. 26) should have been a single room, as the old, exhausted bed barely fitted in the room, with no space for a second night-stand, no convenient surfaces like a small desk; no black-out curtains - very uncomfortable for sleeping in a place where you only get a few hours' darkness; paper-thin walls let you hear every single noise, including very noisy bathroom fans; finally, very pricy for the standard offered: it should have been half the price, to be worthwhile (we paid £110 for the double room for two nights!!!): never again!!!
