Clean and comfortable with a good breakfast
Pillow a little hard for me.
Everything good food great room friendly host good location
We would definitely visit again. Amazing to find someone with whom I had so much in common.
Everywhere was Extremely clean and very accommodating owners, who helped with bags and were attentive at breakfast. Would definitely come back.
The bathroom was across the corridor, we hadn't realised this on booking. Although really spacious and clean, my husband has to get up several times in the night and felt a little uncomfortable with this. We were however the only people staying, therefor it wasn't a big issue. We could probably have asked for another room, just didn't think about it.
The location was great, very near Dartmoor, easy route to Plymouth by car or bus. Also close to Cornwall. The welcome was warm and very friendly Carolyn couldn't do enough for us. Breakfast was great, plenty of choices, and filling. The room was lovely and warm and clean, the bathroom exceptionally so. Suited us perfectly.
We had a lovely room with it's own private patio garden, the bed was very comfortable & everything was spotlessly clean. The fridge in the bedroom with fresh milk provided was a lovely touch. The breakfasts were excellent & our hosts Ian & Caroline were lovely, very welcoming. A very lucky find, highly recommended!
It is a lovely Guest House in a great location. Breakfast was great and the bedroom was large and very comfortable. The location is great for people wanting to explore Dartmoor but is also close to Plymouth for those who want the facilities of a large town. If you do stay here ask fro directions to the Chinese restaurant which is only a short walk away and is very good.
The B&B was easy to find as I was sent directions as GPS is not reliable in the area. The room was beautiful and clean. Excellent cooked to order breakfast. I was able to walk to a suggested pub with no difficulty for supper. The B&B is close to Buckland Abbey where the recently authenticated self portrait of Rembrant is housed.
Every aspect of this guest house is fabulous, the breakfast which is included was delicious, I would highly recommend this lovely house to my friends
Good selection for breakfast, toiletries were ethical, useful information from Carolyn and literature on the staircase and entrance.
Breakfast was earlier than expected
Lovely room on the top floor and the owners were really friendly and helpful. Great location - 2 pubs within walking distance - other good pubs close by. 300 metres to bus stop which we used to go to Plymouth - very good service. Walks in Dartmoor close by
Very clean and comfortable and cooked breakfasts were fantastic. They were very happy to provide a veggie option and I didn't feel I was missing out. Carolyn was very knowledgeable about the locality and recommended walks and other things to do.
Bed was too soft!
The owners care about their business. Our cases were carried up to our room on arrival. The room was large, spotlessly clean and the bed comfortable. Although the room wasn't en suite we had our own, private, splotlessly clean bathroom. The breakfasts are lovely cooked and served happily by our hosts. This is one of the best B&Bs we've stayed in. It's well situated for visits to Plymouth, Tavistock, Princetown and surrounding areas and the local pub serves excellent evening meals a short walk away.
Nothing was too much trouble at this superb B&B, where we were warmly welcomed and spent a couple of very comfortable nights in a lovely top-floor room overlooking Dartmoor. We'll definitely go back!
There was nothing to dislike!
This is not my first stay at the Barnabas House and once again I could not find a fault and I would thoroughly recommend any traveller to stay here whether you are a couple, sole traveller or family you will not be disappointed you get top quality service for a low cost price I wouldn't look anywhere else for accommodation when I am in the area
Perfect hosts, location, food, cleanliness. Beautiful rooms, great size with everything that I needed. Light and bright. Good details available about the surrounding area, transport, food sights etc. Caroline and Ian were very attentive and offered help with bags and information. The other guests were chatty and a general conversation was encouraged by Caroline, putting all at ease, very nice if you are travelling alone. Great to have TV and DVD available with all the cable channels instead of the usual 5 in most hotels. Didn't need it though after all day walking!!
The wi-fi worked well on my first evening but struggled a bit after that, so I just switched the lap top off and didn't use it again, no problem as I was on vacation, but could be frustrating if there for business. The TV kept freezing for a few seconds at a time, just a bit frustrating.
The accommodation (Room 3) was excellent. Ian and Carolyn were the perfect hosts including giving me invaluable guidance based on their local knowledge.
Good breakfast, parking available, good local pubs.
We were here partially for leisure and partially business. We booked a premier room on the ground floor. Was clean and ccomfortable. Would have enjoyed the terrace if weather had been better. De caf tea in the room would have been appreciated, although they did have herbal teas and De caf coffee. Don't forget your hair dryer. Breakfast was good quality. Would stay again if in the area.
Had to wait a few minutes to check out as the owners were busy in the kitchen.
Pretty much everything!
I was working in Plymouth which I about 15 mins away by car. The staff are lovely and the surrounding area is beautiful, perfect base if you want to explore dartmoor.
We were greeted by Carolyn on our arrival and shown our room with a wonderful view over the countryside. The room was perfect - quality facilities, comfortable bed which was turned down every night for us and ensured a good night sleep. The bathroom was outstanding for cleanliness with the addition of quality products. The room was maintained beautifully, and cleaned daily to the same high standard. Breakfast was delicious with a good choice of hot breakfasts as well as cereals, fresh fruit and yogurts. We would definitely stay here again.
We can honestly say there was nothing we disliked about our stay.
Brilliant breakfasts (full English, nice coffee, extra toast on request. Home made yogurt. Caramelised oranges and fresh fruit salad....) Very spacious bathroom (private, not en-suite) Spotlessly clean. Nice firm mattress. Hostess ready to help with information, tips for excursions, nothing was too much trouble.
Parking a bit tight- space restricted when the house had its full complement of guests. Wifi seemed a bit temperamental; sometimes my laptop didn't latch on to the signal.
Friendly welcome, large bedrooms , very clean and tidy, lovely breakfast with plenty to choose from . I would highly recommend to anyone , I will book here first the next time I'm in the area
