The room was modest but comfy and clean and very good value. I liked the wood panelled dining room and the food was good both at dinner and breakfast. The staff were all very helpful. The grounds were lovely especially with the many trees in their autumn colours.
Nothing - it was good value.
The grounds and surrounding walks were lovely. The entrance hallway is beautiful and formal dining room very nice. I happened to have the disabled access room in the coach house which was spacious with lovely wet room. Good breakfast and porridge when requested. With the deal I got it was great value.
Easy to find with a satnav but timid drivers need to check route first. The "bistro" restaurant room is rather basic, in keeping with its former college status. My companions room a standard double was rather small.
Early breakfast finish Bed too small
Great staff, great hotel, would definitely recommend.
Room service - I had to leave the room to order room service and carry our own tray back downstairs as no one answered the phone.
The hotel and its location are absolutely beautiful. Friendly staff. Good food. Great ambiance.
WHile the facility is spotless and very well maintained, there are spots (paint, doors not closing or jamming) that are overlooked
Breakfast Location Very comfortable bed
Slight damp smell in room otherwise no faults at all
The location is stunning.
Rooms are older than they appear in the photographs displayed. The hotel attempted to over charge me for drinks we never ordered, then tried to tell me this was VAT when it wasn't. Management eventually resolved this issue. Felt the cost of £100 for one night was fairly high considering the fact that at 10am house keeping tried to kick us out of our room.
A lovely location, clean and welcoming. The waiters in the dining and breakfast rooms were outstanding - helpful, courteous and pleasant. Food excellent. So reasonably positive and I would use this place again.
The staff on Reception very poor. Gave them an imprint of my card but said I would be paying cash. On departure went to pay my bill and found money had been taken from my card. Not good. Room (lovely) was a bit of a trot in the rain to find meal/the bar etc
Supurb Decor Comfortable beds Disabled wet room Excellent Dinner
Room VERY hot! (Fan provided)
very friendly free water and fruit etc from the trolley when yo leave The gym The grounds, fantastic setting
very small gripes..... Better quality bread for breakfast The signal rooms I stayed in was clean but seemed very basic
the quiet location and the extensive grounds. The complementary water, fruit and biscuits on departure.
maybe the rooms away from the main building if the weather had been inclement during our stay
Everything was good. A special mention for the gardeners who have created a beautiful sub-tropical haven and allowed us a peaceful and restful stay.
The grounds were very nice. Bed and bedding clean and bathroom sink and bath etc clean.
The distance from Guildford. Website states '5 minutes from Guildford'. It is actually easily 20 minutes by car and in the middle of nowhere. Curtains and windows dirty and walls scuffed and flaking in places. Dog-eared. Breakfast was a marathon of walking backwards and forwards. States tea and coffee served at table, but they are not. You have to do everything yourself while staff standing doing nothing, but whip your plate away when you've barely finished. Dreadful do-it-yourself toaster takes an age while everyone is waiting.
veryfreindly staff, beautiful location
the evening meal was not up to expectations
The gardens, the breakfast the location
we were initially allocated room 32 upstairs in an adjoining building -very poor needed updating it looked tired and the carpet was stained -however after complaining we were upgraded to the opposite extreme -very luxurious !
Staff Gardens location
Room quite warm.
Country house atmosphere, friendly staff, excellent breakfast, lovely grounds to explore, in pretty countryside
Dinner Gym equipment was good
Dingy basement where gym and games room are located is not very nice
Really nice hotel with lovely gardens and grounds. Staff really friendly and helpful. Hotel and room very clean. The restaurant was very cosy and food was reasonably priced.
The grounds were wonderful, food was good and the staff in the main excellent
Having to share breakfast on communal tables with corporate team building guests in a very utilitarian breakfast area. For someone on a leisure break this is not very intimate or relaxing.
Good choice at breakfast. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Really nice place to stay! Great breakfast Staff really friendly Nice grounds to walk around Need a car to get around
Excellent and beautiful Hotel set in an old mansion with very nice gardens and grounds and good staff. Some rooms seem a bit older but I think this is also one of the good things. There are still many original (and outdated) details like a fireplace in the bathroom.. I like that and hope they keep it this way. Recommended!
Very friendly and helpful staff. And a wonderful relaxing location and atmosphere.
Repairs running to outfit the ladies toilets until 20:00! Whilst trying to have dinner.
Beautiful setting and gardens friendly staff and good selection of breakfast.
I waited almost 1 hour for my main course one evening. I watched as another guest who had ordered well after me was served the same dish before me. When I complained I was told it was because I hadnt ordered a starter (????) and it normally took this long which I found hard to believe as I hadnt been notified of this in advance and I was watching the other guest eating his meal. When I said I was no longer hungry and didnt want the food any more I was told the chef was already plating up so felt obliged to take it. I was not offered any financial reimbursement and would therefore NOT recommend the evening restaurant at all. Sorry this venue is better as a conference centre and should rethink their hotel service especially in their restaurant.
