staff very friendly & helpful, room nice and private, dinner quality and excellent breakfast. Always lots of space! Not hemmed in with other tables , rooms etc lovely gardens fantastic if visiting with a dog!
Grounds lovely. Breakfast enjoyable. Quiet. Polite helpful staff. Ample parking. Would recommend with proviso that there was no wedding reception and standard of bathroom was checked.
Room carpet dirty. Did not want to walk barefoot. Bath chipped and uninviting. Bathroom needed complete update. Due to a wedding reception only dining option was small poky room with tables too near to each other . Had to dine out instead which was not what we had planned.
Gardens Peaceful Staff were top drawer Would stay again
Stairs going up to room Spiral were very noisy when other guests were using late at night and awkward with carrying bags up them My only quibble

Tired bedroom Tired bathroom Expensive taxi into Guildford Parts of hotel badly needing decorating Springs in mattress on way out
The garden of this hotel is just amazing, huge and beautiful. It is a lovely and unique environment for a hotel. Wish we had stayed for longer and had more time to spend there in good weather conditions. The room was cozy and well-equiped, though the bed felt a bit small. The breakfast was very filling with plenty of choices - English breakfast, cold-cuts, croissants, fruits, jams, cereals etc. We would definitely recommend the hotel to others and would return with pleasure.
The double bed was a bit small for us, though we are both relatively small, and the view from the room was not very impressive (roof top and kitchen units). However, we know that no hotel can have all their rooms with a beautiful view, so no complaint.
Friendly and very helpful staff. Super breakfast.
Wi-fi was great Food was great Surroundings were great Everything was great
The grounds are exceptional.
Having to share the breakfast room with construction workers.

traveling through Guildford at rush hour
The grandeur and gardens.
As generally caters for groups, solo travellers can feel a little awkward. In the bar for instance, no little cozy places for those on their own.
Staff were very attentive, helpful, without being overbearing. The grounds and setting are wonderful, tranquil and relaxing. The food menu was varied enough to cater for most tastes. We was only there for a day but would return again for an extended visit.
Nothing comes to mind, but it was very humid in the night, although a fan was thoughtfully supplied, perhaps if profit margins allow, Air Conditioning a thought for the future maybe.
Location, gardens, buildings, breakfast were all fantastic. I wish we had discovered it at the beginning of our daughter's four year drama school course in Guildford rather than at the end !
Slightly dated bedroom and a bit small although thr bathroom was very big.
An excellent hotel. Superb grounds, friendly staff, great food.
A lovely spot and stunning gardens. The staff were great and managed to make us feel at home and at ease. Good food with great service. I would recommend it highly.
Great location, beautiful surroundings and building. Great breakfast. Friendly staff
Room could have been a little larger. Nothing else.
This hotel is beautiful, the grounds are stunning and the staff a excellent, I would return in a heartbeat loved our stay.
the property was superb, breakfast was excellent and was eaten outside due to the brilliant weather.
lack of air conditioning though the fan did help.
Gardens are beautiful and it was great to be able to sit outside and enjoy breakfast.
Decently priced and impressive manor house styled hotel. The rooms were very clean, the beds comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. The gardens offer ample opportunity for a stroll, or dine outside.
The rooms were very hot (we were there during a summer holiday), because for some unknown reasons all the heaters in the hotel were on. There was a wasp nest next to our bedroom window; luckily we managed to keep the wasps out. There was no draught beer available at the restaurant during our stay. Therefore, eventually we decided to dine elsewhere. Although staff were friendly, most of them seemed more concerned with an event probably going on in one of the other wings of the hotel (perhaps a conference), so sometimes hard to find and a bit rushed.
