Lovely clean room, with balcony and wonderful views. Staff friendly when you met them. Barnsdale Gardens and Rutland Water walks/cycling on the doorstep.
Soul-less, because of spread of facilities at differing levels, and 'canteen-style' serving of breakfast. 'Conference' feel would be good, if that was your purpose, or for a family gathering/wedding, but not for leisurely break.
The staff were very helpfull, the facilities fantastic and the location was wonderful. We have no complaints.
very hilly on site
Location and hotel facilities excellent. Easy to find and staff really helpful and polite.
Bed really uncomfortable and too small for a couple considered average height.
Location, price, breakfast
Misleading impression -thought this was luxury accommodation in Grand Hall as photographed in advertising. Instead, the Grand Hall building for us was reception nly. Most accommodation is in surrounding annexes which were comfortable but modern, mid-range in terms of furnishings. The restaurant/bar complex was in a separate building and was middle of the road, though clean and satisfactory. Had it rained, we would have been soaked going from bedroom to breakfast. Ideal if on a walking, leisure break, but not if seeking a luxury experience.
Relaxing atmosphere, fabulous food, superb views over Rutland Water and beautiful gardens.
view and facilities were excellent staff were very helpfull, we looked at reviewes before we went and to be honest we were very pleased with our ovarall experience
the decor needs an update, but it was clean and the bathroom had just been refurbished so that made up for the decor
Everything, the staff, amenities and situation were brilliant
The outside, upstairs climb to the restaurant and bar. Room service facility would be nice.
Friendly and helpful staff. Good food. Beautiful location beside Rutland Water. A very nice shower. In spite of negative comments I've made, the good points far outweigh the bad points, and we'd certainly consider staying there again.
We had booked a luxury room. Though the room was perfectly acceptable, it did not seem particularly luxurious. The bed was not as comfortable as we would have liked, due to the soft, spongy mattress. The toilet seat was loose. These are minor grumbles.
Swimming pool, sauna etc Grounds and location next to Rutland Water Views
Location excellent,Food very good Facilities excelent.
No hot water from shower. Bed very uncomforable. But would like to come again
The settings and grounds were beautiful. The staff were all very pleasant and anxious to help.
Our room was rather small and the only view out of the window was of a 12 ft high yellow wall. We could only see the sky by crouching and cortortions. Very disappointing! The bed was small and not very comfortable. It was a warm night. There was no air conditioning and we could not open the window as there was a path running outside.
Food was very nice and reasonably priced
Small , dark room facing a half height brick wall, no nets on windows so open for all to look into our room. Room generally not good value for money.
A stunning location with friendly helpful staff. Accommodation generally good. Staff were particularly accommodating in that we were attending a wedding (off site) and needed room to change prior to the check in time. Our room was prioritised so that we were able to check in early at no extra cost. If this had been impossible, we were promised use of the dry change facilities in the leisure complex.
Bathroom in the room was a little tired, old fashioned and with stained fittings. I felt that the site was a bit 'busy' with hotel accommodation, time share accommodation and extensive leisure facilities all sharing a fairly limited site... although to be fair we weren't bothered by noise or too many people on this visit.
The walk between each building
FOOD AND STAFF WERE EXCELLENT
Paid extra for a room with a view as the scenery is spectacular (normally). The view was of the car park. Due to large numbers of people and children going back and forth was like being in a goldfish bowl and had to keep curtains closed most of the time.
Location, rooms, staff- not the Fawlty towers that other clients had inferrered
My steak at supper- the other 3 in our group raved about their food!
The service and food for evening meal in the restaurant was excellent
The room we were allocated was not worth the money - we would have been as well to stay at a travelodge. The buffet breakfast was also cold and that was at the beginning of service.
Quietness and tranquility
The facilities are good with a wide variety of leisure activities. The surroundings are beautiful. And the reception staff were excellent.
Rooms are a bit dated, we couldn't eat in the restaurant even though it didn't seem overly busy. So we had to drive into Oakham to eat. Our lunch at the hotel bar was average. Breakfast was buffet style but food slow to come out. For the money it costs per room my expectations were higher.
Excellent hotel in all respects.
Bed a little hard, no trouser press.
The hotel has fantastic views of rutland water, beautiful gardens, we enjoyed the spa and leisure facilities, and afternoon tea in the restaurant was a real treat.
The room which was a standard double was a little dated. And the bar lacked atmosphere, no background music, a little dull.
The staff were helpful and friendly, the breakfast was good and the location was attractive
The room was dingy and not quiet, as requested, being on the ground floor by a frequently-used road around the hotel, with a view of a wall. Although the kettle lead was hanging through the back of the unit beneath the tv, it did not reach the socket, so had to be placed on the floor for use and the socket on the wall was loose. We had been looking forward to eating and drinking in the hotel but cancelled our restaurant booking as the bar did not have any local ales, which are excellent, and drove to Oakham instead. The pool was full of children. Will be avoiding "country clubs" in the future.
The breakfast was very good. The hotel and grounds were situated extremly well, and plenty of facillities.
Room had no views at all, just blank full height walls.
the hotel was more like a conference venue than a county house hotel and you had to go outside to get to the restaurant.
