Stunning views overlooking Rutland Water are offered at The Finch’s Arms, a 17th-century country inn in the pretty village of Hambleton.
Score from 98 reviews Very good
The location overlooking Rutland Water, the facilities available. In addition the staff were very polite, friendly and attentive. Excellent food in the restaurant.
The bed was far too soft resulting in back ache the next day
the friendly staff warm welcome ,cleanliness of room enjoyed the pool and gym and location ,breakfast was relaxing and good quality of food
bed to soft for us
Was very nice place
Long walk up to dining room
Everything especially staff attitude.
Nothing except bathroom was freezing. There was a fan heater but it was too noisy to leave on at night.
I have stayed in many hotels around the world and I can honestly say that Barnsdale Hall is up there with the best. Excellent staff, clean, comfortable spacious rooms with stunning views.
Huge room with the most anazing view of the reservoir. Huge comfy bed. Huge bathroom. Big lounge area. And very reasonable price. Did not have time for breakfast but I am sure it would have been delicious. Will definitely stay again.
The staff were very welcoming and efficient. The location and grounds are great.
There was some noise from nearby rooms. Also the heating seemed to be on all night, which did not assist a good night's sleep.
Bedroom compact but clean. Good value for money. Lovely location with great views. WiFi excellent.
Bedroom and bathroom a little dated.
Room was standard size, enough space for what was needed. View of Rutland Water was lovely. Bathroom with both bath and shower. Shower strength was lovely. Breakfast was good, lots of choice. Pool looked nice, although not used. Grounds were good, nice walk was enjoyed.
Shower didn't work the following morning! Shame. Would have liked to use the pool, but didn't have own towels. Didn't expect to have to pay to use the towels!
The views, the room & attention to detail, felt well looked after.
The delux room had a garden view and was spacious with two large sofa's. An xmas gift had been left in the room which was a nice touch. All the staff were good and contributed to the pleasant xmas atmosphere. The evening meal and xmas day buffet which we had were excellent. The buffet breakfast was ok just a shame the fried eggs were a bit sad. Our first time away from home at xmas for 30 years but on this experience would do it again. Many Thanks Barnsdale
I was given great food and drink recommendations. Waitress was fantastic. Reception were asked to deliver flowers to me at 9am - they did this without any problems.
Fitness timetable said there was a circuit class. Mixed messages about whether it was cancelled or not. I didn't go in the end.
view bar meal bathroom pool polite staff relaxing
long way to go to eat or for a swim lots of steps
The great view from our room. The breakfast was good. The staff helpful. The location of the hotel for our walk around Rutland Water was ideal.
The bathroom was very small, especially the distance between your knees and the sliding bathroom door. The electronic door key deprogrammed itself and I had to trek across the site in the rain to get it reprogrammed.
The distance between room and restaurant was very lengthy - particularly in the rain
Location Stunning view from our Superior room Leisure complex was excellent
Restaurant not in same building as bedroom
I understand why, however no room service disappointing. Noise levels high traveling from other rooms.
No hot water pressure for shower Thin walls meant I could hear next door's conversation
The location was excellent as were the facilities. Breakfast was really good.
Booked a deluxe double room expecting something spectacular but was disappointed with the room, the only saving grace was the bathroom.
Location, leisure facilities and general feeling of being welcome and comfortable.
I liked everything the view is lovely it's peaceful and all the amenities are good to use. Staff are very helpful and polite.
The water was turned off no fault of yours but u should ave offered bottle water especially to a kidney patient the following day all day water cloudy so u drinkable
Water problems so I went home on the Friday returned sunday water on but cloudy one of my party said this happened to her a few years ago could not get tp ready to go out
Excellent location Well stocked bar Value for money food availible in the bar or restaurant newly refurbished rooms
The only thing that was disappointing was the weather but this is out of the hotels control
We loved the view of a windswept but sunny Rutland Water from our bedroom. Enjoyed a very hearty and excellent breakfast in the superb dining room and generally agreed with the rest of our party ( three doubles booked) that we would return for longer next time. (Might try the lodge facilities - look equally interesting- what a complex and setting!)
