The location and facilities were excellent.

The fact that the bar menu was just a shorter version of the restaurant menu and the food was quite bland. A local pub The White Horse served food of excellent quality for a little less that the hotel.

Good locations Nice venue Facilities good Food excellent

Paid 120.00 for a small double room and very dated. Wouldn't stay there for that money again and no bath, just a shower. Bed very uncomfortable

we stayed at Barnsdale hall whilst attending a wedding in Oakham, our overriding memories of the stay are the friendly, very efficient staff who seemed to be happy to work there. The position of the hotel and it's grounds are beautiful. This made for very relaxing stay and although we only live in Leisestershire we look forward to returning in the near future.

Despite booking very late we were given a very nice room with superb view over Rutland water and the grounds. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Parking was a little difficult especially for my husband who is slightly disabled and cannot walk distances.

    Dinner service excellent.

Shower lacking in power for room of this standard, ( better after change of shower head but still lacking).

the location is superb, with good views of Rutland Water. The spa facilities sounded good, but we did not use them, so cannot comment on these, next time maybe!

The room was OK, but the decor and fittings were old, the bath creaked and the bed was too soft.

The location is beautiful, and all was very clean.

The room on this visit. It was very small, up steep stairs with no lift, and had scant room to unpack. It was, however, very clean, and the en suite was excellent. The reception staff were friendly, but not very helpful when we had a problem.

Location is great for the Birdfair (the reason we stayed) and for accessing Rutalnd Water amenities. Staff very friendly and attentive, particularly in the restaurant. We only stayed one night so didn't have the opportunity to try the leisure amenities.

Vegetarian options limited, unless you are prepared to eat fish.

Staff were friendly & helpful. We had a room each and they were both spotlessly clean. Food reasonably good although somewhat uninspiring. View over lake was lovely.

Although the bed in one of our rooms was OK, the mattress in room 445 was dreadful. It creaked if you moved and was very uncomfortable as you could feel the buttons of the mattress all the time. The mattress protector was so thin that it did nothing to help the problem. One of us therefore got very little sleep and if we had been staying for a 2nd night we would have asked for the mattress to be changed.

Large spacious room. Sitting area, balcony, large bed, nice bathroom and fantastic view of grounds and lake.

It was quite a long walk up steps to the restaurant and leisure facilities especially as we had torrential rain at one point during our stay.

Location, service, lots to do on site. Excellent breakfast buffet

Whole place in need of modernisation, seating in bar not comfortable could do with some comfy sofas. Insufficient hot water to have a bath, ran cold after a couple of minutes. Not enough choice on dinner menu, average quality too expensive.

The outside was beautiful. And the one staff member we met there on check out was excellent.

The rooms are very poor. Completely dated and in desperate need if a re-vamp and the shower was cold in the morning. The location was great and the surrounding beautiful but it wasn't worth £115 per night. It's not suitable for young couples.

All needs communicated to staff granted

Doors to hotel rooms need force to close therefore causing noise. Adjoining rooms kept late night due to party on at hotel therefore disturbed us when coming back to room. Even though they were quiet doors made noise on shutting.

Restaurant was very nice and clean, and the waiters were pleasant.

The time we had to wait for meals was 40 minutes plus, and the food was not top quality, breakfast was not good because the food was under the halogen lamp display for so long it was double cooked, egg yokes were broken and dry, also the coffee if you can call it that was terrible.
