The staff were absolutely fantastic and couldn't do enough to help. The hotel is beautiful and our room looked recently renovated. The grounds are stunning and there are mountain bikes available to explore the 25acres surrounding the castle. The pool, sauna and gym are all quite small but suffice for requirements and the opening times of these are ideal. I will definitely be visiting again! The floorboard in the hotel are pretty creaky (very noticable when other guests arrive late at night!)- only to be expected in such an old establishment though!

Staff at reception were always very nice. There is a lovely pub with amasing food 10min walk from the castle Not a complaint as such, but a bit disappointed by the pool and sauna. These were smaller than it seemed in the photos and the changing room was really small. it seemed more family oriented with lots of children splashing in the pool... Breakfast was not great. I suppose it was OK for £60, but it was not the bargain it seemed when we booked it.

Nearly everything was very good. Reception staff were friendly and helpful. Room was good value considering we had a reduced rate. Breakfast excellent value, wide variety and tasty. sauna good. Serving staff were a little abrupt for an upmarket place. Dumped plated meals down in front of us a bit like in a greasy spoon cafe. One server tried to take my plate while i was still chewing my final mouthful! apart from these small details, i would defintiely recommend. A great venue.

I visited Barony Castle for a friend's wedding and it was a lovely location with lovely facilities for the wedding, very nice room with great facilities (lovely tea!) and a reasonable bar. I would be slightly disappointed if I had paid full price as the room was quite small, but grabbing a bargain from booking.com made it well worth the price.

Excellnet location - weather was good and grounds excellentt. Staff were mixed, some had no chat at all, service was slow at times for simple things (another drink, or sandwiches at in the afternoon).

Staff exceptionally helpful. Late breakfasts (serving until 11a.M.) were well received. Pool, although a little small, very clean. Grounds extensive and very well tended. Although entitled a castle, and exterior conveys this, when inside this is not apparent hotel provides bikes(and helmets) for patrons'use -free if looking for a quiet, away from it all break, this hotel is ideal happy to recommend it Only one lounge which was also the bar area, waiting area for dining room and informal area for bar meals - a second lounge space would be desirable

The staff at Barony Castle were exceptional and the hotel pool and sauna were both excellent (and rarely used). Our room was slightly dated (but clean) but the overall value of the room was incredible.

Hotel was very good for a 3*.Breakfast was excellent and good value at £7. 50 pp . Dinner was mediocre and expensive £25.00 pp, if your hungry don't eat there and their chips were pathetic. The Horse Shoe Inn is only a short walk away about the same price but much better. Peebles about 10 mins drive has lots of pubs and restaurants to cater for all pockets and tastes .Hotel is lovely and is busy as a wedding venue. I'd go back but I wouldn't have dinner.

Upon arrival the staff were very warming and welcoming. Once in our rooms received a telephone call to ensure everything was in order which I thought was a greath touch. The grounds are very pleasant around for a little stroll and the hire of mountain bikes at no charge is a great idea as there are lotsof areas around ideal for mountain biking. Enu for evening meal had good choice and reasonably priced. The bar area is very relaxing. There were also tea and coffee and although complimentary a small donation to charity could be made. Squeeky floor boards I believed fitted in with the age of the castle at first however at 6am in the morning it can get a little annoying when person in the above room is doing a walkathon.

The public areas are good condition and the grounds are amazing. Wonderfully warm check in and majority of the staff were very pleasant. Loved the complimentary coffee in the conservatory. Breakfast service was very poor and disorganised. Pool tiny. Need to wear name badges.
