We went to Blackpool for a family hoilday. We needed something very close to all the attarctions, as, we have 3 children under 5. The Barton hotel ticked all the boxes for this, It was sooo close to the beach/promenade, pleasure beach, central peir, water park and resturants/tourist shops. It was also close the the bus/tram stops, which was handy. The staff were very friendly and helpful, with a personable attribute (something you don't really see in the big chain hotels). Our room was clean and fresh, albeit a little small, but we were staying with 3 children and had a fair bit of luggage! The breakfast was lovely, staff made sure you were well catered for! We had a great stay. This is not so much a negative point as such, but, with no lift (we knew this was the case, as it does state on the website.) it was a little tricky at times with the kiddies, as we stayed on the top floor. But the staff were kind enough to let us keep the pushchair downstairs safely, to save all the hassle.

Staff were very friendly and chatted to all the guests while in the lounge. As it is a small family run hotel guests get the personal touch that lacks from major hotel chains.

We were made most welcome by the owner. The breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. Our grandchildren Eliot 8, and twins 6, were made very welcome and they really enjoyed their stay. Our en-suite room was nicely decorated, clean and comfortable. Parking was a little difficult as vehicles parked across the front of the hotel, blocking cars which were parked on the forecourt in.

Stayed here for one night with my son and enjoyed the stay. We chose the hotel because 'friendliness' is important to us and the Barton sells itself on this claim. That said, the welcome by the owner was not particularly friendly more like fairly formal and efficient - as was subsequent service . Maybe if we'd stayed longer we'd have seen more friendlines come to the fore - who knows ? Otherwise , generally the hotel is what it claims to be .. ie guests can expect a very clean, efficient and well located hotel , with a decent bar and food and comfortable ( in our case relatively small !) bedrooms and good washrooom facilities. Not a complaint as such, more of a concern if the hotel is to keep the goodwill of customers . But, what would have represented a 5% surchage to settle our account by credit card on arrival, seemed rather steep - meaning I had to pay by cash to maintain the value of the headline price.

The owners and the staff were just normal people who went out of their way to make this stay a pleasant one.... Also liked the fact that the hotel was down a side street and not on the main road and away from the hussle and bussle. If you want to be near to the shops and the tower then maybe this is not ideal but it is nice to walk there on the prom. Very handy if you are planning to visit pthe pleasure beach as this is a two minute walk.would stay there again for sure
