Very friendly staff. Evening meal in restaurant was superb; breakfast also fabulous. Comfortable bed. Nice large room. Very clean. Room felt a bit cold for a few hours, needed to turn up the heating. Would have been nice for this to have been noticed before our arrival so we could have arrived to a warm room. Went to have a shower to warm up and the shower water pressure was awful, barely a dribble of water. Water only lukewarm in the evening too, disappointing. Hot water in the morning, but still only dribbled out!

Bed very comfortable and staff friendly. Restaurant closed but food available in the bar ( maybe as it was Easter Sunday ?). The food was ok , just not restaurant standard. Location for visiting Chatsworth house great. Tv in bedroom on the small side.

Room was beautiful and a good size. Some nice touches eg a real plant. All staff very friendly and helpful. Cosy real fire in the bar in April as the weather had suddenly turned freezing and snowy again! Fantastic cooked breakfast. We were disappointed that although the hotel was "dog friendly", we were unable to eat in the bar if we had our dog with us and in fact were not allowed in the bar with her even for a drink during the hours food was being served, which was 5 - 9pm. This was explained to us when we enquired at check-in and the staff were apologetic, but it was a policy which they were unable to change. It would have been helpful if there was a small bar area where dogs were allowed and it would certainly be useful to have info for people staying with their dog, on the website. It always seems very difficult to find these things out before you arrive. Apart from this the hotel was great.

The staff were very friendly. We stayed in the family room with our teenage daughter which had plenty of room and everything we needed. The hotel rang us the week before to say there would be a wedding reception on the evening we were staying but assured us there would be no noise after 11pm. There was no noise after 10.30pm and we had a good nights sleep.

Very nice, friendly hotel in a pleasant location. Lovely large, well equipped bedroom. Excellent breakfast choice, enourmous full english breakfast which kept us going all day. Would stay there again. The only thing that spoilt it was the food on the Friday evenng in the bar area, unfortunately the chips were awful, overcooked and extremely greasy. What a shame!

Quiet location, just a short drive from the town centre (Chesterfield) and with easy access to the Peak District national park. The room was clean, comfortable and spacious. The en-suite bathroom, likewise. The full Derbyshire breakfast was amongst the most substantial meals I have encountered and would suffice to fortify even the most demanding hiker for a morning on the Peaks. The staff were all welcoming, cordial and attentive. We very much enjoyed our stay.
