Clean comfortable warm with friendly staff. A short taxi or pleasent walk to Clay cross with a fine selection of shops pubs and take aways. It is well located for touring the Peak District and the food is extremely good in sumptuous surroundings excellent up market low priced hotel
We could not pick fault we didn't want spar or the like got what we wanted and more . Our dislike was not allowing ourselves time to stay another night or two
staff were friendly and welcoming, I did have breakfast which was nice
it was all ok, however the pillows were extremely uncomfortable for me, but that may just be personal taste.
The food, the spaciousness of the rooms.
Pillows were hard.
all accommodation good
Excellent Food, Warm and welcoming with Log Fire. Massive breakfast with quality ingredients..bless your appetites..!
Only slight gripe was noisy bed and thin walled room but this did not diminish my enjoyment of my stay.
Great Breakfast and nice bar and atmosphere.
Shower was useless
Restaurant and food was good
Shower was poor
The food was excellent throughout, with a good choice. I ate there every night. My room was comfortable, as was the bed. I was able to control the temperature of the room easily and it was all very clean. Range of tea, coffee etc. was very good and replaced daily.
The unwanted attentions of the shower curtain - time to ditch it in favour of a screen - in fact a walk in shower would be fabulous and cost effective. Everyone can shower but not everyone can bath - climbing into the bath to shower just doesn't do it for me and isn't what I find on the continent. The dark brown furniture spoils the room and takes away from the nice furnishings. I have been coming for many years and the furniture has never been updated.
It isn't often I get time to dine when travelling on business but I did on this occasion and the food was totally fantastic, service and attention was perfect, not over or under bearing just relaxed and you could definitely tell that the owners pay attention to detail and their customers needs... just wonderful!
I didn't like the fact that I had such a relaxing bath in the morning I ran out of time to enjoy breakfast, as I am certain it will have been as wonderful as Supper!
Friendly staff Food Atmosphere Location
We only had a very brief stay while visiting family nearby but would definitely come back and recommend to others.
Very comfortable bed. plenty of parking.
Excellent all round
Breakfast was excellent
The Batemans is a lovely building with the reception rooms being beautifully maintained. The bedrooms do need a little updating particularly the Twin room I stayed in. The breakfast was amazing, really tasty. Staff fabulous, couldn't have been more helpful.
The bathroom was a little tired and needed updating. The noise from the bar on the Friday and Saturday night was loud in the rooms although it did finish at a reasonable time.
very good vegetarian breakfast
The bathroom needs refurbishing. No mixer tap on washbasin. We could not get the shower to function and did not call for assistance as it was after midnight. The receptionist did not understand the problem at time of departure and wondered why we had not telephoned for help. Curtains in the room were shrunken and had not been ironed. At arrival nobody offered help with heavy luggage up a steep stairs The cleaner next morning offered help down the stairs
everyone was friendly and helpful and we both had a great meal. we would stay there again
Nice sized room and very quiet. Good vegetarian option fried breakfast
The tomato was very large
Food is amazing and everything is value for money. Staff helpful but not intrusive. We will be back.
Nothing...no complaints or gripes.
Very friendly staff, excellent dinner menu and a good breakfast too!
Excellent personal service. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent. Really good value for money.
Staff,room and food
excellent choice and good standard of evening meal comfy bed large well-appointed room relaxing ambience
nothing - was exactly what we wanted
On my way from NE to Berkshire this made an excellent stop. I had budget single room but it had all I needed. Nice and quiet too. I had to make an emergency call as I had lost my credit card and 0845 number cost on mobile. No public phone but willingly offered reception cordless so I could still go for privacy (card had been found, not abused and had been cancelled so relief). Paid w debit card. Food good and service fine.
No lift - but help offered.
The quality of the food, especially the "Derbyshire Breakfast" was excellent. Good location for visiting historic Derbyshire locations.
