We were upgraded to their best room with panoramic view of harbour, cliffs and inland. The room had been refurbished since we last stayed and was very comfortable. We ate dinner in the hotel for convenience but it was low season and the menu was a little limited. Perfectly adequate, but not a memorable dining experience.

The location is great next to the sea front in Lynmouth. We had a room at the front of the hotel overlooking the sea. The room was large and comfortable although the wash basin was in the room not part of the ensuite. Really enjoyed breakfast, food was very good. Staff very helpful. Parking at the hotel very limited. Had excellent food at Rock restaurant a few yards away.

First impression is that the Bath hotel is old-fashioned and not ashamed of it. It is perfectly suited to its Lynmouth location, friendly, interested and delivering all that is required. If you want flat screen TVs, power showers and the 21st century then it isn't for you. But if you want relaxing, human sized, 'rules are just for guidance, tell me what you need' kind of place then it is excellent. It is wonderfully dog friendly (the barman supplied free dog biscuit treats) - as is the whole of Lynmouth. For the money and location it had everything we needed. Some of the equipment shows its age, but for me that really just added to the charm, but it might bother others. Although we hardly used the tv, at 12" it was really too small to see from the bed especially when it tries to accommodate wide-screen programmes! But that is just being picky.

I have only good to say about The Bath Hotel. I found it easy to find, Rachel and all the staff helpful and friendly, and the atmosphere welcoming. My room was a convenient size for me, was well-appointed and had character, rather than being an identikit rectangular affair - for me, a real plus to staying somewhere. The staff were helpful and accommodating, and had time for me every time I spoke to them, suggesting ideas and ways they could help me out, and I'm sure they'd do as much for anyone else. They were also cycle-friendly! Thank you - a great place to stay and good memories to hang on to! Oh, and yes - what a wonderful part of the world to live in! Anything I disliked? Well, only that I'd be very happy to see you get more custom out of season! On the evidence I saw, you deserve it!

The breakfast after staying in various places over the summer months the breakfast wins top marks. Very disappointed in the room as it was sold as Grade a, yes the room was spacious but very very dated, I would describe as basic, sitting in this room would not be a pleasure because of the surroundings.

The hotel was in an excellent location, once we parked the car we were able to access all the shops and pubs on foot. The hotel was rather dated, it needed double glazing in the rooms as they were quite cold. It only had blankets on the beds and really needed duvets.

No bar in the lounge. Extremely quiet in the evening and no atmosphere, as bar closed in the actual hotel. Had to walk through the dining area to get drinks from the pub attached to the hotel. Hotel managers were seen very little and did not engage their guests in any conversation or sociable "chit chat".

Very good restaurant and vegetarian options on the menus. Even a full vegetarian english breakfast options. (Also another restaurant serving vegetarian within the square.) Lovely views, and the hotel was right on the edge of a busy pedestrian only shopping street, where you can buy your gifts, and yummy cakes etc. Staffing brilliant very friendly from management to cleaning staff. We were lucky to get parking at the hotel, but plenty of evening free on street parking. No lifts, we had three rooms in completely different wings of the hotel and so many stairs inbetween. Advise them before booking if you have difficulties with stairs. Standard rooms only have bath, and decor requires updating, in contrast to their luxury rooms which are spacious, well decorated and include shower over bath. (Some with sea view).

All of the staff were very friendly, courteous and helpful. The room had an excellent sea view, was spotless and well appointed. We enjoyed our stay very much and thoroughly recommend it. If we visit the area again we would not hesitate to stay there again. The two car parks for the hotel didn't have the capacity to satisfy all guests but the were plenty of street parking slots during the evening and overnight.

The location was perfect - right in the village. Parking could be a problem - we were ok as they have spaces nearby but late-comers may have to be in the street (free overnight).

“Excellent welcome and we liked the ambiance. The honesty bar was a nice touch, although we didn't use it, it was an excellent facility. The guest lounge was also very good with a good selection of magazines. The breakfast was excellent with a good choice of hot and cold dishes, including Full English, kippers, and even kedgeree. Only a short walk to the sea front with some very good local pubs with a good choice of places for an evening meal.” Stephen, Martock |
