It is a lovely hotel and the spa is facilities, the outdoor pool and spa is my favorite. When we check in, the staff seems do not know how to check the room, she had to wait for an other staff and asked her. we waited for a long time, even we have child and 3 people over 60. and she even do not give us 2 room together. we have 3 people over 60 and they do not know how to speak english. So It is a problem for us to take care of them. she gave us 4 room is one in ground, one in first, one in secound, like this. Also the first floor one is face to the bin, and the window can not be open. and also there are some black thing on the window. so we have to change the room. and unfortunately, we met the same staff, she let us to wait again, everything she have to ask another staff.

1. It's location. 2. The breakfast. I think in a nutshell it is best to say that it is very poor value for money. Staff training and attitude is lamentable. Restaurant chaotic service and poorly cooked food. Rooms tired and shabby and not particularly clean. Macro Alda need to shape up and what is a surcharge for using a credit card about?

Nice hotel, convenient location for theatre in Bath. Staff very friendly and helpful.Breakfast lovely. Hotel is nice but not really a five star hotel which it pretends to be. We had to wait to be seated at breakfast and then the maitre d' told us there was a problem "because reception had closed our room". It was resolved but we shouldn't have been aware of it - it was an internal problem. Could hear a lot of banging in our room in the afternoon too - Ok at night though. Would have been very disappointed had we paid full price for this.

Primarily the Location ,15 minute walk into the main town. Very nice grounds and general decor. We would love to have put something more positive but on the whole as we drove away after 2 nights our overall opinion was one of disappointment. Having stayed in many 5 Star hotels this falls someway short and is like a 4 star not even trying hard enough to be 5 stars. Biggest disappointment was the room, we had double room 107 on garden level, the bathroom in particular looks tired and there was even mould on the tiles in which you could write your initials (I have a nice photo) , I cannot understand how if cleaned properly almost daily so much can build up on the grout and tiles. We did ask to see another room but this was no better and in fact a smaller room, the staff seems disinterested in our reasons for wanting to change. Having spent £650 for 2 nights it felt very Ryanair to then be charged £5 for parking!! Very cheap attitude. Dined the 1st night in the Alfresco , wow the website photo really portrays a different image! It should be called “Corridoio” meaning simply Corridor and exactly what it feels like, I have honestly eaten in motorway services with more ambiance. It was pleasant to sit with chips lying on the floor and staff either forgetting drinks or bringing duplicate orders! The breakfast buffet is no better that a 3 star and very overpriced , the 2nd morning we went into town. Dined 2nd night in the Vellore, waiting 5 minutes to be noticed by a waiter to be seated who then went to a colleague who then discussed intently before finally getting someone to seat us , the food itself was very good. The Bell boys have a knack of looking the other way when you drive to the front to clearly load bags into the car so ended up doing it myself. We did not try the spa so we cannot comment on this.

the location, the grounds, the swimming pool/spa facilities incorrectly graded as 5 star hotel. Staff not well trained enough for that. Also no lunch facilities after 2.30pm. Rooms dowdy and worn. Breakfast service on a par with Travelodge.

Outstanding concierge services, very pleasant, friendly, and knowledgeable. They were really the only helpful people in the hotel. The pool is great, and the outdoor spa pool is wonderful, especially the high pressure waterfall (don't bother with the indoor whirlpool, it's worthless). Grimy shower walls in bathroom. Shabby furniture in the room and the mattress was way too soft, I.E. worn out. Because of the dress code (non- advertised, only stated in the information in the room) in the only hotel restaurant we were forced to use room service for dining our first night but the service was terrible, took over an hour to get our meal and it was cold and tasteless and overpriced. Upon checkin the only clerk was on a prolonged phone call and never bothered to ask for someone else to assist us - I was virtually ignored for about 15 minutes until the concierge went and got the manager.

The location is great and very quiet, only 10-15 min walk to the city center. The room was not 100% clean Service at Vellore Restaurant + the reservation I made by email (and for which I received a confirmation from the hotel) had not been taken into account Because we used our debit card (rather than a credit card), we had to pay each service (restaurant, spa) rather than paying everything at the end of the stay. This is the first time we've been asked to pay upfront in a 5* hotel.

The hotel is in a beautiful setting with fine gardens. The all day restaurant was very good value for tea or lunch. The food for either was very pleasant. My mother was well looked after by staff while my partner and I enjoyed the spa facilities which were great, clean and interesting. My massage was very relaxing as I was tense about my son's marriage. We were give more time to check out as we were going on to the wedding. All staff were very helpful.

Nice hotel very well located quiet, excellent gardens, short 10 minute walk to city. Not enough staff working on reception - approx 20 minute wait to both check in and check out. Only 1 person working on reception. Not advised there was a car parking charge at check-in, advised on check out and was told it was hotel policy!

The hotels spa facilities were really good, though looking a little tired compared to last year ( missing tiles in steam room for example). It's a great hotel if you have a baby but want to still have a spa experience as the facilities are at the hotel so you can swap looking after the baby whilst the other person has a swim/sauna. Breastfast gd but expensive. Great champagne cocktails!! As mentioned before, facilities needed some maintenance. Also would be better if babies allowed round pool later than 5pm as quite early for us to finish in the spa.

Beautiful building and nice although small spa A minor detail but we left a computer charger at the hotel by mistake and they charged us £1.59 postage to return it - we spent £500 in two days and I'm amazed that they thought this appropriate

Location, building, room service Room heating didn't work but they upgraded us to a nice suite. They tent to treat you as potential "thief", charging you in advanced for everything, including charity initiaitves billed without consent! Luckily I haven't lost my roomkey...

The spa, quite excellent, good food, breakfast price too much Not enough public rooms. The public room there was was very dimly lit, more like a night club. Light in bedrooms not good enough either, nor helped by one bulb not working!

I liked its location and its external look The bed was very uncomfortable, too soft and dipped in the middle and both myself and my partner had bad back aches the next two days. It was quite gloomy bedroom with a very run down and gloomy type of feel to the room, even though it was a last minute booking .com but I would still expect some sort of class being a 5 star hotel, and that we still met the costs of bar expense and car park facilities.

The staff were pleasant and the location was good and the room was clean and comfortable. However the leisure facilities were good to have the use of but ........ see below The leisure facilities were not as good as expected as the pool was a little small and hence very overcrowded and the salt infusion and one of the showers was not working. In addition it was very expensive and the breakfasts were outrageously priced as there was no al a carte option and particularly as I am gluten free i had to bring my own cereal etc anyway but even so it was outrageously priced. Also the fire alarm awoke my sons baby at midnight and she never went back to sleep

“Comfortable clean rooms, peaceful ambience, very customer focussed and competent staff. Breakfast was just as previous visitors have decribed, a good selection to please most people and on a par with upmarket hotels. Car parking although £10 a day for the service is worth it in Bath. Location for city centre walking is excellent.” Michael, Wynyard |
