Clean, comfortable, well-designed rooms. excellent food. friendly, helpful staff. Good location for Hadrian's wall, and beautiful countryside. Good-quality. well-kept beers.

Speed of dinner service could be a little more leisurely. :-)

Great pub - lovely food both dinner and breakfast.

Family room was a little bit cosy, even with the bunk beds. Too many dress cushions in the room already abit small to accomodate 5 people, they were piled everywhere.

Great food . Lovely staff. Dog friendly.

Room too hot , a very heavy duvet and a small double bed. Poor choice of red wines.

Everything! The staff, cleaniness and overall ambience was friendly, warm and relaxing. The eco status is exceptional. A brilliant, relaxing and perfect weekend break.

Odd smell in corridors!

If one tries to imagine the perfect country inn--ambience, food, comfort, decor, friendliness--this is it. We loved Battlesteads. The chef went to extraordinary efforts to please and the owner came to talk to us twice. He showed us around with great pride, explaining the extraordinary efforts to leave no carbon footprint and to embrace sustainability. The ales in the bar are superb as is the food in the restaurant, both for breakfast and dinner. The owner and staff wrack their brains thinking of every tiny thing they possibly can do to make the stay perfect, and it was.

The staff were great and there at all times. Room was lovely and very clean. Food and morning breakfast very good but would be nice if it was warmer. Whole day and night very nice, the battlestead pub very warm and friendly. Will be coming back for the third visit.

The food was great but cooked breakfast should be served hot not Luke warm. The room was lovely but should feel warm when you arrive would be nice.

Friendly staff ,great bar area with locals and guests. Good wines reasonably priced.

Log fire, of real ales, excellent food, stunning breakfast, friendly staff who are well-informed about birds, and the bird-life you can see from the hotel.

Comfortable, well furnished bedrooms. Comfortable, welcoming bar and lounge, excellent food friendly and very efficient staff. A short stay, meeting up with friends from France, but a very happy one.
