Score from 12 reviews Good
Nice friendly pub atmosphere, good food, and excellent beer. Great location and a nice place to stop off after a long days travelling.
Ensuite room, but the "bathroom" was a pre-fab closet - to be honest we have a bigger bathroom in our caravan, and with less plastic.
very small bathroom
The inn is at the heart of the national park just a small drive from Hexham & Kielder. The breakfast is delicious and the bar was open to a good time, so after our long day you could enjoy a good pint.
The issues lie in the washing facilities as the shower/toilet room really is very small! I also found that the bar staff were more accommodating to the regulars than the residents. We were informed it was last orders at one point though he was still serving the blokes at the bar. Slightly unfair.
The place was buzzing when we arrived. Staff very helpful and good fun. Great facilities only a small hotel so don't expect the Ritz .We competing on the Tyneside Stages rally on Otterburn so the location was good for us.
Nothing to dislike
Very friendly and helpful staff. Food excellent. Dog friendly.
Very friendly staff food was excellent.
Room small although did have en-suite.didn't think was worth £90
Very friendly and helpful staff. Great food and room was very good with a large bathroom with both bath and shower. Would definitely stay here again.
Very friendly and welcoming with efficient service. The rooms were excellent and a good size. We liked the atmosphere in what is obviously a popular local pub, which is also dog friendly. The food was also very good, and it was nice to have free Wifi in the rooms as well as the bar and restaurant.
Only that although the location is very attractive and in a small village it is right on the road, so the noise from traffic passing through was a bit loud, though thankfully not frequent!
The ensuite was a plastic pod, cramped, probably made for a caravan or boat. Certainly no good for a large person or disabled.Would certainly not go again. Every bedroom had one.
the staff were great the food was really good defo recommend and stay there on a regular basis
Lovely, friendly staff, breakfast was fab and bed was very comfy.
Friendly staff, good food, clean room
Friendly staff and a good pub atmosphere, nicely prepared food in the restaurant (when it eventually arrived), an excellent breakfast, and a surprisingly quiet location given the proximity of the A68
The en-suite facilities were a bit problematic - in the room we had they were in a laughably small plastic pod reminiscent of those found in a railway sleeping car. Just about acceptable for a one night stay but no more. Last year we had a different room that had a more useable version of the same thing. There was a problem with the bill - we had to point out that we were being billed at the wrong room rate, and also that the total was incorrect by a further £10 (over). Both errors were put right without any fuss, but had we not checked the details we would have been out of pocket by £30.
We liked the location plus the accommodation and food were very good staff very friendly and helpful will visit again.
I loved the atmosphere and the quietness
The duvet was a but dirty
the lovey friendly staff. They were so keen to help in any way. Nothing was a problem. Good to stay in a traditional pub and be welcomed by the super local punters!
The bathroom. V small but adequate for our needs. It would not put us off staying again or recommending to others.
Excellent service, very accomodating. Good furnishings in all the rooms we used. Good quality breakfast
Disparity in the room sizes (could be reflected in price?) Ensuite in one room was too compact and clostrophobic
Very old fashioned. Bed was lumpy and squeaky. Bathroom seemed to be a pre-fabricated plastic 'pod' like the type you find in caravans or on ships. Very small and smelt so bad I had to leave the extractor fan on constantly. Towels were stained. Absolutely no Internet and intermittent mobile signal which was very frustrating this day in age. I would never stay here again!
The staff were friendly
The room (room 7) was very noisy. It was above the bar and there was loud music playing each night (Friday and Saturday) until Midnight. Also, the window opened onto a flat roof which housed a cooler for the cellar. This came on approximately every fifteen minutes when the bar was open and about every hour or so during the night waking me each time. I asked to move room but was only offered the one next door overlooking the same cooler even though one at the other side of the building was in fact free all weekend.
staff were great,food ok
toilet and shower cubicle very small, but manageable
the room we had was outstanding large with a new shower room and bath all very good. The atmosphere in the bar was lively and we enjoyed the company also the food was good
Slightly noisey late at night but not a big problem
The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. They helped create a fantastic atmosphere.
Friendly, ample parking, good restaurant, excellent breakfast, good value
En suite far, far too tight for the average person to negotiate.
very friendly staff and locals. great pizzas
the meals were great
it's a pity the tv, did not work
