“Made to feel very welcome. Staff very friendly. Food excellent. Wonderful location. Thankyou”
Anne,
Braintree
An enchanting Cotswold retreat in the picturesque town of Burford, few could resist the rustic charm of this 16th century residence, whether it is for a vacation, business trip or special occasion. The Bay Tree is steeped in history and awash with character, from the foundations of its mellow stone walls - clad with pinkish-purple wisteria blooms - to its wooden beam rafters. Oak-paneled public rooms, bare stone walls and original stone fireplaces, including an inglenook fireplace, provide a textured canvas upon which rich fabrics, woven tapestries and antiques have been laid down with exquisite flair. For your relaxation, you can select a good book from the hotel library, sink back into a comfortable chair and allow the stresses of everyday life to gradually seep away in front of a roaring log fire. In the summer months, the tranquility of the walled gardens make for a relaxing haven where you can enjoy a refreshing drink on a warm evening. Lovely cosy hotel in a pretty little village, just right for a quiet break in the Cotswolds. The food and service was really nice and the log fires in the bar and lounge added to the ambience. Rooms were full of character making such a pleasant change from the usual "boxes" that make up modern hotels. Being over critical, it was very warm !

Our two night stay at the Bay Tree Hotel was a delight. The staff were very caring with nothing too much trouble for them. The food and service in the restaurant was of a high standard. We overheard a number of guests commenting that they would definitely want to return --- clearly it was not just us who appreciate quality!!

We stayed in the garden room on the second night of our honeymoon travelling up to North Wales. The bedroom was very comfortable; we did not dine in as we were a few minutes late for dinner but breakfast was fine. The staff were curteous and helpful. The hotel was convenient for an exploratory walk around Burford. Would stay again

The hotel is very cosy with very nice log fires. Staff were generally very friendly. The food in the bar was excellent, the one night we ate there. Our room was also comfortable, bathroom was excellent with Molton Brown products. Breakfast was also very good, with excellent quality food. We had a twin room, and although comfortable, the beds were very small, more akin to young children's beds. Other than this, it was excellent.

Friendly efficient staff. Location We had booked for 2nights with dinner. Our first night the dinner was poor and certainly not value for money. We chose to cancel the second night's dinner, the manager, however was very apologetic. On arrival our room was very cold, however staff did their best to improve the situation. First impressions of the reception area were very poor, a doorway from a passage leading from the car park was very narrow with another unmarked door leading to the reception area. Also en route we had to pass a dangerous stone staircase.

It is a lovely old hotel situated in a quiet location off Burford High St thus ensuring a good night's sleep. The rooms are comfortable and relaxing in traditional style and the food is first class. We stayed 5 nights and thoroughly recommend the breakfasts which offer a wide choice.Of the three nights we dined at the hotel, one was in the Woolsack bar ,the other two in the restaurant, but the standard of cuisine was excellent in both. The hotel staff were polite and attentive at all times and we would definitely stay here again. Couldn't fault the hotel at all

As usual the staff were extremely helpful. On our arrival we were told that our room had been upgraded free of charge!! The room didn't disappoint. The food was excellent both for the selection at breakfast and the dinner menu. If you enjoy good food, in a lovely village then definitely try the Baytree.

Calm, relaxing and very comfortable. Quiet environment .Lovely bar food. Very friendly and helpful staff....nothing was too much trouble. We loved our two visits to the Bay Tree in July, and plan to visit again soon. It's a great hotel in a beautiful place. Underdone toast! Cedar had an un-nervingly creaky floor...and the valance on both beds was torn.....we appreciate that this is mid-season, and things happen to hotel furnishings, but.....
