Bay TreeSheep Street, OX18 4LW Burford (Show map) Excellent, Score from 73 reviews“Friendly service. Good food. Quiet location. Adequate parking.”
John,
Hook
An enchanting Cotswold retreat in the picturesque town of Burford, few could resist the rustic charm of this 16th century residence, whether it is for a vacation, business trip or special occasion. The Bay Tree is steeped in history and awash with character, from the foundations of its mellow stone walls - clad with pinkish-purple wisteria blooms - to its wooden beam rafters. Oak-paneled public rooms, bare stone walls and original stone fireplaces, including an inglenook fireplace, provide a textured canvas upon which rich fabrics, woven tapestries and antiques have been laid down with exquisite flair. For your relaxation, you can select a good book from the hotel library, sink back into a comfortable chair and allow the stresses of everyday life to gradually seep away in front of a roaring log fire. In the summer months, the tranquility of the walled gardens make for a relaxing haven where you can enjoy a refreshing drink on a warm evening. Lovely olde worlde hotel . Dining room has fine aspect across garden & a.pleasant quiet ambience .Very attentive & courteous staff . Food excellent . We would have preferred to have been in main building but , through booking on line , ( & ofcourse being discounted which we wanted ! ) we did not know of the annex . Annex is nicely appointed but not quite like main hotel building .

Lovely old world atmosphere at the hotel with real log fires. Very cosy and charming Restaurant manager was inflexible about making the Bar menu available in the restaurant for our teenage daughter. He was very courteous though.

Our two night stay at the Bay Tree Hotel was a delight. The staff were very caring with nothing too much trouble for them. The food and service in the restaurant was of a high standard. We overheard a number of guests commenting that they would definitely want to return --- clearly it was not just us who appreciate quality!!

staff and service were good and log fires made everywhere very cosy, just what was expected of a cotswold hotel. The breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice and evening meal of very high standard. A most enjoyable stay.

We stayed in the garden room on the second night of our honeymoon travelling up to North Wales. The bedroom was very comfortable; we did not dine in as we were a few minutes late for dinner but breakfast was fine. The staff were curteous and helpful. The hotel was convenient for an exploratory walk around Burford. Would stay again

The hotel is very cosy with very nice log fires. Staff were generally very friendly. The food in the bar was excellent, the one night we ate there. Our room was also comfortable, bathroom was excellent with Molton Brown products. Breakfast was also very good, with excellent quality food. We had a twin room, and although comfortable, the beds were very small, more akin to young children's beds. Other than this, it was excellent.

Friendly efficient staff. Location We had booked for 2nights with dinner. Our first night the dinner was poor and certainly not value for money. We chose to cancel the second night's dinner, the manager, however was very apologetic. On arrival our room was very cold, however staff did their best to improve the situation. First impressions of the reception area were very poor, a doorway from a passage leading from the car park was very narrow with another unmarked door leading to the reception area. Also en route we had to pass a dangerous stone staircase.

Pleasant ambience and helpful staff Lack of shaving mirror in bathroom and lack of seat to use hair dryer in front of mirror. We found the library the only place to sit quietly and as it is relatively small, there was no alternative.

A nice ambience .... relaxing and pleasant room I didn't like the canned music which played in the restaurant even at breakfast time , which appeared to be an infinite loop .. the problem is two fold .. I don't like music when I am eating and I didn't anyway like the particular music which was played.. It is a pity because otherwise the restaurant was very pleasant
