Just off junction 29 of the A12 and less than 3 miles (5 km) from the very heart of Colchester's town centre, the hotel offers comfortable, great-value rooms and free parking.
Score from 129 reviews Very good
Friendly homely and comfortable. We look forward to returning.
Everything especially hospitality of Les and Jenny (thank you!!!), breakfast, clean comfortable rooms. Will definitely stay again when in the area again.
Having stopped at the Beam Guest House for four nights we found it excellent. Good breakfast, and very clean and friendly. Highly recommened.Les and Jenny lovely, could not do enough for you
Everything was great. Les and Jen excellent hosts and deserve the success they are getting
Very close to coast for cycling walking and very close to Clacton Golf Club. Very comfortable, quiet, clean and roomy. Lots of parking very well decorrated Great breakfast friendly hosts.
Hard to find anything to say! Squeaky en suite door ,perhaps more shower towels
I liked the comfort of the bed, willingness of owners to oblige, cleanliness of the house, in fact everything about it. The owners were very friendly and informative of what was happening in town.
I thought everything was up to scratch and there wasn't anything to dislike
Breakfast, large bathroom, effort made with puppet to entertain our children!
Beam guest house is a very worm and welcoming b&b, very helpful. We had an amazing night sleep. We spent two nights and the whole time it rain. So a lot of time was spent in the room. Would defiantly stay again, next time with better weather. :)
The room was a good size and well decorated with a lovely bathroom. Breakfast was better then in some very much more expensive hotels that we stayed in. The owners were very friendly and welcomed us and our two labradors. It was within easy walking distance of a lovely sandy beach with a section that dogs were allowed on.
I forgot my hairdryer and could not find one in the room so had to go down to breakfast with wet hair and ask for a hairdryer that was provided on request. Clacton was a little sparce on good quality dog friendly places to eat in the evening but the owners were very good with helping us to find somewhere suitable. Otherwise it was perfect and excellent value for money.
Friendly team who are making a real effort
Should have mentioned when we left the lime tree where we parked gave off a very sticky sap - you need to let people know
Everything! nothing to fault. Stayed with my daughter Grace while her sister was travelling in Peru doing charity work and my husband unable to come. First time we had been away on our own. Les and Jenny made us so welcome we stayed an extra night. We will be back.
The couple Les and Jen made my daughter and I feel very welcome. They always met you when you returned back to the guest house after a day out which I thought was a homely/friendly touch. Plus Les ran me to McDonalds one night when my daughter felt peckish. As unfortunately I had a toe injury. It only took 10 minutes of his time but it was a very nice thing for him to do!
The noise that the bathroom made. I think it was the Saniflo system within the guest house. When putting on the light and using the loo, it made such a racket and you heard everyone elses. Everyone new what you were up to!!!
Good breakfast - lovely couple running it sociable - great location.
confusing shower taps ?
Les and Jenny made you feel very welcome. The deco was excellent. Plenty of tea, coffee, hot chocolate. Plenty of milk cartons. Bedroom very comfortable and pillows just right. Best sleep I have had for ages. My son and his girlfriend exactly the same. Breakfast freshly cooked. Service very friendly. Rooms were spotless. Bathroom very roomy.
To be honest there was nothing, not to like.
Clean and spacious rooms, Just 5/10 minutes walk to the pier, Two minutes walk to seafront.
Very clean and comfortable room, excellent breakfast, good value for money and good location. We will be back.
The owners were very friendly and made us very welcome. We had a lovely family room which was spacious and very clean. The breakfast was lovely. The guest house was a short walk from the beach ideal.
They made our stay very personal , remembering our names and always checking we were ok and happy. Free parking too. Close to the sea but a 10 min walk from Pier. We would definately stay here again if we were in clacton. Thanks Jen and Les. Xxx
My wife and I , had a fantastic stay at the Beam Guest House , the couple who run it were very hospitable and friendly , nothing was too much trouble ,very nice breakfast , and the place was immaculate . All in all a great 2 days. Me and Mr M.
Jenny and Les are a very helpful couple do all they can to give you a nice holiday , Very expressed Clacton -on Sea was lovely place to visit nice sandy beaches clean looking town . Rose and Dave Aldershot
There are only positive things to say. The hosts make you feel at home, breakfast is fantastic. When we stayed at Beam Guest house we also had brilliant weather. We got good suggestions for excellent restaurants, we took a taxi to a restaurant with an amazing man who resembled the King of Norway and we got a intensive course in the history of England during the taxi journey;) The bed in our room was not perfect and the pillows a bit hard but it was offset by the very pleasant stay at this nice guest house!
Les and jenny the couple running this guesthouse are very welcoming and friendly. The photos on booking.com do not do the rooms justice as it is much nicer in reality. I look forward to staying here again.
Very friendly and helpful couple. Felt very at home. Parents already booked again!
Couldn't get the hang of the shower settings..
