Score from 74 reviews Very good
The stables inn was excellent, the food was exceptional and the staff were friendly.
The hall itself could do with refurbishing. It's such a beautiful building and needs a make over. Didn't have the best night sleep as the bed was really uncomfortable.
Food at stables and the staff were very friendly and helpful
Paying for delux room when it was clearly a below standard room . Mattress on bed awful . Food at breakfast had to be sent back both days .
Ambience and courtesy of other guests.
Inability to use my Mobile phone
Great food at stables restaurant at reasonable price. Sunday dinner recommended, good choice available. Good location right next to museum, hotel grounds are immaculate.
the room was spotless.interior of hotel is beautiful.the stables bar and restaurant had a great atmosphere and lovely food.very friendly staff at the hotel and the stables.the grounds are really nice.it was lovely and quiet.
the breakfast could have been a lot better.poached egg was solid!
great location and high quality service
Car park. Gravel.
The beds uncomfortable
Excellent peaceful location with 'old world' charm and modern facilities. Superb food quality and service. Ideally located for visiting Beamish Museum.
Bathroom, although beautifully finished and clean, the sink and the shower were quite small and it lacked any shelves for the usual bathroom items.
Everything! The location, ambience, pleasant staff, décor and food. Also that, on learning that we were celebrating our 50th Wedding anniversary, we received a bottle of champagne, card and chocolates from the staff and management.
I booked this for my mothers 50th birthday with a group of friends aged 22-58. We had the apartment and 3 dbl bedrooms. Everything was fab, we spent most our time at the beer festival over the weekend. The breakfast was amazing and the staff could not have been more helpful.
The sofa bed in the apartment was broken, when one of the girls tried to get on and go to sleep it collapsed on the floor.
nice bar, really cool brewery on site nice hotel lovely old house
expensive because of great north run evening meal was rubbish, but everything else on menu looked good. just not the lamb no spa e.t.c
Couldn't ask for a better hotel - breakfast service was second to none - reception staff were very helpful.
Having to leave after having a wonderful stay!!!! Staff at the Stables not up to the task - poor attention to detail - asked for a desert menu and after waiting 15 mins for it to be presented, got up from our table and got one myself!
The location, staff, the style of the hotel food was exvellent
The whole atmosphere of the hotel is calming and relaxing. Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff, they were all always pleasant and attentive. The room was lovely and clean and the beds were extremely comfortable. The hotel is tucked away in a quiet place which is ideal for chilling and relaxing.
Beautiful building in lovely grounds. Friendly local staff Smallish room but very comfortable, spotlessly clean, individually furnished. As far from a chain as you can find.
Breakfast not bad
Arrived after 9.15pm and all the food available was cold sandwiches and crisps! Bar closed 11pm and no further drinks available for residents. No wifi available in room or bar area despite advertising it. Rooms small and dated. Walls thin could hear next rooms conversations telly and bonking up to when they finally went to sleep after 1 am! !!!!!!!! Beds squeak due to their age. Staff at breakfast were on although a smile in the morning would be nice. Reception night staff just stare at you. .........
Clean room with period features. Large bathroom. Beautiful old period features throughout the public areas of the hotel. Lovely grounds. Good location for visiting Beamish Museum.
Location of Luxury double room at the central/rear of hotel was very noisy as staff could be heard shouting, rubbish/bottle recycling and deliveries. No chance of a 'lie in'. Unfriendly/unhelpful reception staff i.e had to ask twice for extra pillows. Overcharged on Hotel bill. Restaurant service very slow - staff stood around talking. Eden Room (breakfast service) even slower and food undercooked.
Friendly staff and good food.
First room noisey, adjacent to Stables A/c units ect.Additional charge for extra bed.
The rooms were clean, well equipped (coffee, tea, biscuits etc) and the bathroom small but clean.
The reception staff were extremely aggressive from the moment we walked in. The public areas are very tired and dated. The service in the breakfast room was horrendous. Half an hour wait for the cooked breakfast.
Staff were locals and largely very very good Breakfast was excellent, especially the service.
My room was crowded with furniture and would have been too small for a couple.
Impressive building and grounds. Really friendly greeting from breakfast staff. Beautiful breakfast. Lots of pre booked weddings and activities. Newspapers to read . Stables restuarant good food and bar. All staff here friendly and welcoming.
I thought the classic room was really small. We had a writing desk in the room so no drawers for jumpers/tops etc we had a wardrobe. The shower leaked we did report that it was flooding the floor. Meet and Greet on main reception were friendly and helpful bar one and when the weddings were on we might as well have been invisable we wern't aknowleged at all but by then we knew our way around.
Everyone very friendly and always pleased to help. Great to have excellent beer from the on site brewery and the food at Stables restaurant was lovely.
Need wifi accessible in the room as only available in lobby (for ipad)
the bathroom was gorgeous, the room clean and well appointed, wish we could have stayed longer will definitely be going again
The location was spacious and quiet, beautiful surroundings. The staff were very helpful.
The room was manageable but small, ok for the one night we stayed.
