Food excellent, Staff very pleasent and helpful. Room and bedding was spotless with everything you require for a short stay. We stayed for the Pickering war weekend and noticed the room prices had increased but there had been no effort to dress the Hotel or staff 1940s style. Not even any wartime music in restaurant. This was the only place in the area that we saw that did not participate in any way. Restaurant was gloomy in appearance, could do to be brightened up.

We came up to Yorkshire for the funeral of a close relative which is why I have not ticked any of the previous boxes. The staff were sympathetic with our reason for the visit and were very understanding when a group of relatives arrived late for a meal in the evening. The chef stayed long after he was due home which we appreciated. The only addition I would ask from the hotel is clearer signage outside. It is very easy to pass the hotel without being aware that it is there due to a different name being outside. I understand that they are aware of this problem and have it in hand to rectify.

Convenient for business purpose with restaurant on site. The staff are extremely helpful. There are some aspects that need updating, however I do feel this is reflected in the price. I would stay here again though.

We very much enjoyed the welcoming and friendly atmosphere. We have stayed in many hotels and this compared favourably with the best of them. We thought that the first impression of the reception area was a little cold and unwelcoming. Also, the person who checked us in was efficient but not over friendly, maybe he was busy as we had to ring twice for attention!

Stayed at the beansheaf for 2 nights, on arriving was shown to our room which we found spotless, although it was a very cold day the heating hadn't been put on in the room which we found rather cold. The first night we had evening meal in the bar which we found very nice the staff were very friendly and helpful. The second evening we decided to eat in the bar, but found a wedding function taking place and all the staff seem to be taken up looking after the wedding guests. Although we did get a meal the service wasn't as good as the first night, didn't get asked if we would like a dessert or coffee, so if we went again I would first check to make sure there were no functions taking place.

We came to the Beasheaf for the War Weekend so it suited our needs Thought the price charged for Friday and Saturday was expensive Sunday night at £68 was a fair price.

The room was lovely and the added extras like broadband and chocolates and drinks was a nice touch. I felt like the hotel was nothing like it was shown on the website. The room was acurate but everything else was not as nice as shown. Also the walls were very thin and a young family were too noisy next door. Breakfast was a bit of a disappointment.

Outside appearance deceptive- this hotel provided facilities inclusive of price that luxury hotels would charge for - ranging from chocolates in room each night,. Free soft drinks in room rather than just water and free broadband connection. Although located on main road - rooms were away from road and noise was not a problem at night. Ample car parking available. Restaurant provided quite a varied menu and reasonable selction of wines - quality fo service and food was very good. Also reasonnablly priced. Brekafst was superb and the Whitby kippers are to be recommended. Hotel is family owned and internal renovation planned this winter to brighten up decor which they willingly admit is tired. Cleanliness throughout hotel is excellent.

Service in the morning was quite long - and there weren't others around, so couldn't work out what the delay was in coming to take our breakfast order!

I would recommend this hotel. The hotel looked like a public house with rooms. It was a very pleasant surprise to find that the rooms were very nice and had all the facilities expected of a hotel. The hotel is out-of- town, so there are no parking difficulties. Perhaps a little expensive with no breakfast included in the price.
