Very friendly and helpful staff - rooms were good size; comfortable and well equiped. Food was good and inexpensive. Would be happy to stay again and recommend. Outside decor needed a little attention otherwise cannot think of anything else.

The staff were professional, polite and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble and it is nit very often that you can go somewhere and receive such a high level of customer service. We shall definitely return :-) Ignorant guests who returned late and made as much noise as possible with out any thought for any other guests. However this was dealt with immediately and there were no further issues.

The bathroom was well designed. The bed was very comfortable, and the selection of refreshments was excellent. Friendly staff, especially the lady who checked us out early on the Sunday morning.Have already booked another stay. Could have done with a coat of paint, but otherwise loved it.

Staff were friendly. Breakfast was cooked well and good choice. tea and coffee in room with biscuits and J2O juice. Plenty of plug sockets and internet connection. Strong hot shower. Great to watch the rabbits in the carpark. Large soft towels. Very thin walls - could even hear conversations (ETC!!) from next room with Bedhead banging against wall from early hours! Hardly slept due to this which spoilt the following day as we were both so tired. Room dusty and very basic for a 4*. Bed uncomfortable with very lumpy duvet which seemed to have no stuffing in many places.

Rooms, breakfast and diner are fine resp. very delicious. Public transport connection is difficult on sundays an bank holidays, only few buses run to Malton and Pickering. Car hiring or taxi is recommended, if bus timetable does not meet the requests.

The bed was comfortable and the tv worked. Ample parking. The hotel is on a busy road, so our room was noisy. The bathroom was dirty - hairs in the bath - and the whole hotel appears to be rather shabby and 'down at heel'. Grubby chairs in the breakfast room and a massively overpriced stay - including a whopping £18 charge for a very average breakfast. Possibly the most overpriced bowl of cornflakes that I have ever eaten.

Very helpful and friendly staff. Good location for visiting places of intrest in North Yorkshire. Plenty of parking. Good service. Rooms and corridors fairly well presented. Looks very tired from the outside, especially the windows which were crying out to be cleaned and frames need painting. Because they are in gray, they look like the have been primed but not finished. Loads of condensation inside as no double glazing. The bed was the worst i ever slept in. You could feel the springs and the quilt was a feather and down. Not good for people with breathing difficulties. Lots of cobwebs around lights and cold in the corridors. We had chicken curry for evening meal which was almost certainly out of a jar and rice was boil in bag long grain. I alway thought you had basmati with curry! Im not sure how it gets a 4 star rating because its not. Wouldnt book again. There were workmen staying that never bothered us except one, he used fowl language loudly all the time and im sure the staff could hear him!!

The bar and restaurant and staff therein were excellent, the food very good at reasonable prices. The promised complimentary J2O never arrived, morning biscuits never replaced, one bedside lamp broken, not replaced when reported, the bed/mattress itself was very uncomfortable and well past retirement.

Found the hotel looked nothing like the pictures on the internet. Looked scruffy and tired. Only ate one meal on the first evening, didn't find it at all good, so therefore had to travel miles each evening to find anything decent to eat. Certainly did not appear to be a 4* hotel and would not want to return there again at any time in the future, in my opinion it defintely needs a complete makeover. Didn't bother with breakfast either , especially as they were charging over £8.00 per person for this.

Good food in the restaurant, the only downside is that it closes at 8pm. We had to get there a bit earlier then we would have liked to be able to have dinner there. Staff was friendly. Very close to Flamingoland, which is why we sleped here one night on our holiday. The room had some dirty marks that could be washed off, but in general it wasn´t too dirty.

The food was fabulous - great chef. The reception/bar/restaurant area carpeting was very dirty & made these areas look quite shabby. The owner did tell us that he has replacement carpeting on order as they only took over this establishment in December 2011. The toilet cisterns are very noisy - if an adjacent room uses the loo during late hours/during the night, you are woken up.
