Stayed in the main house. Lovely room with great shower room. Breakfast was good. Would recommend
The pub and staff are exceptional, and the room was just perfect. Clean, modern, fresh and quirky with lovely touches. We would have loved to stay longer to explore the area, but will certainly be back!
Can't fault it. A bigger bed is always a winner though! 4 miles outside of Oxford makes for a great base to explore. Would highly recommend if you are looking for a romantic getaway in close proximity to Oxford.
Excellent location to enjoy the countryside and the culture and amenities in Oxford. Wonderful saptaff and excellent food.
staff helpful, room good a lot of small nice touches. also ate there at night food was excellent. breakfast also excellent.
Nice friendly staff
Evening meal was disappointing Rabbit goujons were clearly reheated and barely luke warm. Canneloni filled with rabbit 'mush' very disappointing. My wife's steak very ordinary! Kidneys starter and extra 'side' to main course were excellent
Good rooms. Great attention to detail. Nice food and beer. Excellent for access into Oxford.
The bathroom was lovely and the general facilities were good. It was lovely to have water, both fizzy and still, in the room, along with fresh milk for tea facilities. The breakfast was very good too.
Although the room was nice, this was quite expensive considering it was a pub with rooms.
room was good, atmosphere pleasant, staff efficient, clean dining & bar areas, imagine outside areas would be lovely on a fine day. Breakfast very good.
only downside was the flat iron steak meal which was very tough, the staff dealt with the problem meal promptly and presented the menu to choose a replacement meal, which was fine.
Lovely comfortable room and excellent facilities. Great location too
Rooms were well equipped and comfortable. Food excellent.
Low beams - ouch!
Overall an excellent experience from the rooms to the quality of the food. Would highly recommend.
Character of the building, wifi comfort, price.
Poor finishing in bedroom and bathroom post refurbishment. Door didn't shut bathroom fittings poorly fitted.
Room (king room) was excellent size, and bathroom (shower) superb. Breakfast excellent - good buffet choice and well cooked hot choices. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Proprietor on site - very friendly and welcoming.
We liked the location and the easy access to Oxford via a very reliable, inexpensive public transport bus service. The Bear and Ragged Staff is a charming 1600c building tastefully renovated - cosy, warm and welcoming. Food was great and staff were professional and service was friendly and with a smile.
There is one small thing - the catch on the top suit entrance door was reluctant to catch. Thats it!
The staff were incredible, bent over backwards to be helpful and really made it a pleasure to stay. Te inn is slightly out of town, but is easily a nice hour stroll into oxford or there are several buses that leave from a couple 100 m from the inn, that will take you directly into the centre. The food at the inn was amazing and worth the price tag, we had to make a conscious effort to not spend all our time at the inn! Overall the place is quaint and charming with all the luxuries and amenities you would expect, with a few smal touches that went above and eton do highly recommend this hotel to travellers.
Rustic nature of the establishment
The location (escape the city), restaraunt, bedroom, bathroom! Great English countryside experience.
Good all-round with an exceptionally comfortable room. Excellent staff. Good value at a discount. Nearby park-and-ride into Oxford avoids a parking nightmare.
Olde worlde charm, with modern facilities
Ambience and good quality of provision in rooms - real milk and coffee, good quality tea and real glasses / teapot make a difference, plus still and sparkling water provision
Food in restaurant didn't live up to our expectations, but breakfast was excellent
Great staff, food and a lovely room - not far from M40 in a lovely village.
The room was clean and well done up. Furniture is minimalist however ther feel and comfort is top class. I have easily paid three times the money and ended up in half the comfort and facilities. Staff is fantastic!!
wow. Exceptional. I would stay here again without any doubt.
This is a fantastic hotel the only problem is the lamb shank did not have gravy and the chef did try to send me very old cheese that was dry so I sent it back and the front of house staff where fantastic but he did save himself with a great great breakfast
The first cheese plate
