Good size room, recently refurbished, so space for dog & basket
- Breakfast orange juice very tart - plenty of parking spaces but it will test your manoeuvring skill
Great location in a friendly town, and an ideal for visiting the Brecon Beacons and Usk Valley delights.
We've stayed a few times now over the years and very much like it here. Reception staff efficient and friendly as were the bar staff. Our room was a good size and spotless, very comfortable bed and good shower. Fortunate with the weather so able to sit and relax in the pretty garden.
The Hotel is unique and is perfectly positioned with adequate parking. Staff all very helpful and pleasant. Room was good with nice en suite.
Room position above the restaurant was a bit noisy due to guests congrgating outside leaving early in the morning. Had a meal that looked nice when presented but the baked fish ( plaice) was swimming in a butter sauce which made the underside of the fish sloppy and inedible. More wardrobe space would have been useful.
Noise from the kitchen early in the morning.
Wonderful place to visit, hotel quaint staff very helpful. The rooms were decorated to a high standard. The Breakfast was excellent.
No ironing board in room. Had to use the utility room of the hotel.
so welcoming fantastic value and brilliant for dog owners they were made as welcome thank you a lovely break .
Nice staff, lovely bedroom, gardens beautiful
Bathroom truly grotty, VERY badly in need of an overhaul, broken and slipped tiles, revolting grout and sealant, poor shower. It wasn't dirty, just really seriously old and yuk Food and drinks nice but overpriced
Great situation in middle of town with off street parking. Good selection of beers. Lovely breakfast choices with super waitresses. Beautiful scenery.
The friendly staff.
The coffee - a wonderful meal in the evening and breakfast in the morning spoilt by grim coffee and on enquiry it was all that was available. How easy it would be to provide a cafetiere of decent coffee.
I loved the bed it was very comfortable and the room was luxurious. Crickhowell is a lovely town I will definitely return and stay in the Bear.
There was not enough potato with the lamb shank. My partner was so hungry after our meal we had to get extra chips!! There is a reasonably good selection of gluten free food on the menu but the food in general is pretty average for the price.
Accommodation, staff and food ticked all the right boxes, a great place to stay for a few nights while exploring the Welsh countryside. Set in the centre of the town of Crickhowell surrounded with panoramic views.
Staffing and food were excellent after a 200 mile drive. Bar full of locals interacting with various Antipodean tourists, the Craic was great, food was as good as ever, varied selection, well presented
In future, would ask for a room at the back as road noise through secondary double glazing was very apparent on a hot evening
We turned up worn out and very hungry the gentleman on reception was very helpful it was ten to ten when he took us to room when we came back for food he organised for us to have food as the kitchen was closing it was a very warm welcome everyone was so helpful and we were very grateful, room was lovely and the setting was beautiful could not fault anything
generally - room is Okay - clean and big enough. Breakfast - Okay Staff - helpful.
walls between rooms are not blocking noise above 'certain' level.., There is a restaurant in the hotel - prices are little bit too high
Great location in the middle of town, and plenty of parking at the rear. Variety of areas, nooks and crannies for drinking/eating, and good food.
Duvet/doona on bed - too hot !!
Jacuzzi after a long walk was Heaven!
Ideal place to stay for the Brecon Beacons .
The bed was really comfortable.
Food was not that great.
The location is perfect. Spent the afternoon in the lovely beer garden and then had food in the bar which was excellent. Breakfast was very good. The staff always make you feel welcome. Cannot wait to make another visit.
Our room was very old fashioned. Last time we stayed in a more modern room which was more to our taste. As it was very last minute I'm not complaining but will request a specific room next time.
The accommodation,and Staff
Choice of menu for Dinner
We had a small standard room but was adequate for two adults and a large dog. Quality of furnishings was very good with attention to detail. The bed and chairs were very comfortable. The food we had, both for breakfast and evening meal, was excellent with good choice and food provided for a happy dog when we ate in the evening.
Access for car parking was a little difficult with fairly tight access when a number of vehicles parked. However understandable given the site available.
