Score from 430 reviews Very good
Setting is OK as long as you just want a room in the middle of the New Forest. Breakfast is good value.
Next to railway line, so noise from trains starts at 6am. Few basic facilities, staff unhelpful when we wanted a light snack at 1130am. You didn't get the feeling that anyone really wanted to be there - staff or guests
The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was quiet and relaxing and having the pool/spa was veery good.
The door banging at night.
Fabulous peaceful location on the vast open heathland. Ponies, donkeys and cattle on the doorstep (literally). Friendly staff. Lovely room with comfy beds. Mum and I stayed for three nights and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Wish we could have stayed longer! Didn't eat in hotel but had a few tasty meals at the Drift Inn next door. Would definitely stay again if visiting the New Forest.
everything, the rooms, location, the staff, the feeling of being spoilt, the food and the service. I'll return regularly.
The trains so close to my room
The location, the views, the cleanliness.
They seemed to be disorganised this time and I waited a while to check out.
All staff very friendly and helpful Lovely area and views Great pub next door (owned by hotel) Public areas clean, tidy and nicely furnished.
Some parts of room a little dated and worn. Breakfast was so slow to arrive on our first day we couldn't risk waiting the other days! Staircase and doorways to top floor awkward to negotiate with big bags/boxes.
LOCATION AND SERVICE
Poorly Trained Staff Poor value dining PM Bad Table Service Shambles at breakfast Tired bedroom furniture Weak wifi in annexe rooms
Location-good walks on the doorstep.Close to Beaulie
Bit noisey (children),breakfast very slow
Location and amenities
Service was only average, food was average, generally over priced
Location,Comfort, relaxing, excellent food, comfy rooms, an ideal weekend retreat, we are already planning our next visit
We stopped only 1 night not more!..
Location and staff were very good
Bathrooms were outdated and given the beautiful location and exterior of the hotel they didn't match expectations
pub a bit pricy
Being a solo traveller, found staff very friendly and helpful, would use the hotel again 5 star rating
pub next door was a great place to eat, have a drink and relax.
The whole ambiance
Pool was great fun for my son. Meals were excellent. Play area and garden space out the back was excellent too.
Shortage of bathrobes on the day made using the pool awkward.
Nice clean hotel. Great food in the pub. A great little pool which our daughter loved. All in all a great stay.
The bunk beds in the family rooms are not the greatest design. Strong but you need to put both up or you bang your head on it.
Location good for needs and quite
bteakfast not included for heafty nightly rate and room not what i'd booked (booked 4-poster bot bog standard double
The food at the nearby annexed Pub.
The service at the nearby annexed Pub was poor especially during Breaskfast. No internet connection in the Pub and very week connection in the hotel.
Cosy characterfull hotel. Good central location for exploring the new forest
Evening meal was overpriced. and not particulary good. would stay again and eat out.
The pool and quality of food for breakfast
The quality and cleanliness of the room for the price we paid.
Problem with door lock sorted out swiftly. The pool - small but lovely after a hard day. Friendly and helpful staff. Lots of easy parking. Wonderful location in the middle of the New Forest.
Funny smell near the pool (what was that?). That being a solo traveller my table was near the door so that everyone else had to file past me on the way in to the dining room. I'd had rather been in a corner or at the back.
Location The welcome we got The Drift Inn next door - superb Shower - powerful and hot
Train timetable out of date Restaurant was a bit tired
