The grounds and quality of furnishings and finishes
My room was Old School 85...up in an elevator, along a long corridor, then up two flights of stairs in what would formerly have been attic space in a tower. If I had been carrying a suitcase it would have been a struggle to say the least! If you have luggage and are allocated Old School rooms on the 2nd floor, request a lower floor. Reception said I'd been upgraded to a Superior Double, but this wasn't superior. Whilst modern and quite fancy, the room is too warm with no visible AC control, there were three flies buzzing around the ceiling spotlights, and a constant high-pitched whine from the roof apparatus below. The curtains didn't cover the sloping window properly, so light streamed in and woke me much earlier than I wanted to be awake. I was only staying for one night, the experience was less than I expected from this hotel especially as on checking in when told you have been complimentary upgraded your expectations are raised.
The staff were very nice and helpful and the location of the estate is stunning
That the room was dusty and I paid for an upgrade but the room looked the same as the one I had already booked online for £84 and I paid another £31 which was uneccessary
Very disappointing. Our bedroom was very close to a ‘fair’ marquee with 800 guests screaming and shouting until 2 am. The tiny double bed was not up to Travelodge standard. We could not be upgraded We were the only occupants in the bar in the evening, it had loud music and cold. We moved to a warmer quiet lounge and were asked to leave because it was booked for a private function
Function was well planned and food was very tasty. On arrival the staff were great, same applied to breakfast. Room was upgraded free of charge so a bonus from the start.
Breakfast was a disappointment to say the least, not easy to maintain a quality service with this type of self service. Food cold. Easy to get lost due to the layout of the floor plan, fire escapes used as exit points to function areas I think should be identified to corepond with map.
Clean Free wifi reception staff very friendly No noise
The long walk to the south block Bed was not really comfortable long que on reception to check out...when your done you just want to go! shower pressure not great
Location was ok and room was clean. Pizza was ok but you had to collect yourself (and still expected a tip?).
Small room, hotel suited for business only, felt more like a factory complex (map required to get around!!!!), overpriced for what it was and was not a pleasant stay.
Size of the hotel
Room was really cold-,no heating
The bed was excellent, gym good, breakfast good, view was good, good size suite
No room service in my suite phone and collect only, no wifi in my suite, no sauna or steam room near the pool, empty mini bar,
Price of room Noisy air con , fan small room
Friendly staff lovely setting
Huge grounds long corridors
Food and service were excellent
Clean room. Ample parking.
Fire alarm in the evening, so all had to go outside (fortunately just before I got into bed).
ROOM - No heating. Poor lighting. No ventilation. Only one towel. No phone coverage. Wi-Fi didn't work. Iron didn't work
We specifically requested a room with a view of the lovely grounds, as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. In addition to requesting this on our booking, we also contacted the hotel 2 days before our stay and the hotel receptionist confirmed a room with a view of the gardens had been reserved for us. When we arrived at the hotel at the correct time to access our room, we were told the room wasn't yet available and were asked to wait for half an hour. When we arrived at the hotel, we were given a room in the old School House, where we couldn't even see out of the window! We immediately phoned reception, but no one answered the phone. We then walked back down to reception to highlight this oversight, but there were significant queues. When we eventually spoke to the reception, they apologised but said there were no other rooms available! Throughout the evening, we were disturbed by loud music, the bed was very uncomfortable, the view was non existent and the whole experience was very disappointing. We have stayed at a number of PH Hotels and, this is the worse experience we have ever experienced. The stay completely spoilt our wedding anniversary.
the outside of the building and grounds plus some of the inner decor
the food was average, the room was photo shopped was nothing like the internet luxury double as advertised, the bathrooms was awful dirty and grout missing from tiles toilet seat was broken ,mould in the bath tiles and shower screen, mould in the windows
Cold reception area, too forever to fet checked in, cold corridors, cold restaurant, food at best fair, noisy, long hike to the room, up a number of flight of stairs, elevator not working, would not recommend for business travel
That a room had not been reserved for me even though I had my confirmation of the booking.
The swimming pool, choice of food at breakfast.
The food in the tapus bar was not very good.
The location was good for Windsor and Lapland UK
In modern block at the back of the old building - bit grim. Sister stayed in the old building in large suite. Use of slippers and a fridge in her room but nothing like that in ours. My husband couldn't sleep because of the noise of doors banging in the corridor below. Wouldn't recommend.
