We booked this accommodation in February and were not staying until 6th-7th June, but £50 non refundable deposit was credited to our credit card on 8th February. We booked 14 accommodation houses for our trip and this was the only one that took a deposit and also so far in advance. There was a notice at reception, stating that cash was the preferred payment and credit cards incurred two and a half per cent fee. The morning we left, we offered cash, but the balance had been charged to our credit card on 4th June. Before reading the notice, we intended to pay with our Travel money card, which is a debit card, but no choice. The owner was very keen to point out that the invoice showed the commission paid to Booking.com, which was of no interest to us. Also if you wished to arrive outside the checking in hours (2-6pm), you had to have written agreement from the owner prior to arrival. What if you were involved in an accident or the car broke down and you had no means of contact? Whilst this establishment was a pleasant and convenient place to stay, there is much choice of accommodation in the area and because of the booking rules, would not stay there again.
Beaumont House is conveniently situated close to town. Our room was spacious with a comfortable bed and large bathroom. Breakfast was freshly prepared to order and served in a attractively decorated dining room. The lounge room was homely, with a self serve bar, with honesty box, if you desired a drink. On arrival, we were given a complimentary cup of tea, but if you wanted one at another time, it cost£2. Fortunately, there were tea making facilities in our room.
