I needed to go to a place for business and the staff went out of their way to help find the place.
Excellent location, extremely helpful and nice staff, comfortable beds. Definitely recommend it.
The B&B was close to the center of the city (just a 10 min walk)
Beds were too hard, there was a damp smell in the room. I don't know why but I never managed to have a shower with warm water, that was the worst thing (imagine having a shower in Oxford winter with nearly cold water!!!).
No street parking nearby so had to pay for expensive train station carpark overnight.
I understood that I had to share a bathroom - fine - related to the cost, but there was a shower and handbasin, in room, so only had to share the loo. The landlady was friendly, and welcoming, and someone kindly carried my case up to my room.
The staff and the landlady were very friendly, helpful and welcoming. The wifi worked excellent which you can't say often of B&Bs offering free wifi. The Becket Guest House is close to the central station as well to the city centre. The room was clean and the bed comfortable.
Though listed as Bed& Breakfast they don't offer breakfast anymore. By looking closer the house has seen already its best days. Apparently one of the shared bathroom was renovated with nice tiles, new shower+ sanitary installation but the work is done lukewarm with the old window still in which is really a pity. By looking at this and then no breakfast offering you might get the impression that the place is overpriced but it's Oxford so it's hard to find something that does not cost a fortune.
Good, convenient location
Extremely thin walls - heard everything when other people came in in the wee hours. Room smelt very strongly of commercial air freshener, in the unpleasant way that makes you suspect there's something particularly nasty it's covering up.
Nice and clean little guest house. Very friendly and helpful staff.
A good little walk from City Centre, but nothing too devastating.
Basic hotel but had everything I could have asked for, even tea and coffee making facilities in th room. Staff very friendly and helpful.
At this price nothing.
it was quiet and warm and I was not aware of any other guests but i was there just one night. bathroom andbedroom fine.
Close to railway station
Heating switched of during the night
Nice location, 3 mins to train station. Not expensive. Quiet outside, good for sleeping.
No reception at all from 6pm to next day 10am.. Inside hotel got this mouldy old smell which really made me feel not well..
Very close to the train station.
perfect location ! clean facilities good.
noise for road and occasionally train. Other guests making noise when coming home drunk. towels were to small to put around us. we are average size ladies.
For what you pay it is very good and very convenient location for the train station.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, and got in touch with me to make sure that I could check in on time. The location is good and the bed comfortable.
This is a guest house that is not staffed all the time, making check in time important to confirm. It slightly falls into the gap between well loved B&Bs and well staffed hotels, with what can generously be described as a "shabby chic" look. Wifi worked fine but the instructions in the room didn't - you needed the (different) wifi login details from reception.
Conveniently near the station; a little far from town centre for the less physically active
Needs to provide breakfast
Since we kind of knew what to expect in hotels of three stars or less, we were satisfied with what we experienced. The staff was welcoming and helpful.
There was construction on the street outside of the accommodation and the presence of large garbage containers and a vacant building just next door detracts from the overall appearance.
Great proximity to rail station; nice, quiet room.
"Reception" was an island in the kitchen, and it was not clear if one was allowed back there or not in the first place. Limited registration hours. Other than that, lovely place.
Nice position, near the railway station and very close to the centre of town. Good stuff. Clean room and very confortable bed too.
The whole house needs a lot of tlc. Feels sad and uncared for. Depressing to see the same things still needing attention from my previous visit. Tiny bathrooms are very awkward. No light above the basin in the bedroom, nor any shelf to put things on. Last time breakfast was included.
Basic but fine for purpose (somewhere to sleep near the train station before early morning travel)
The curtains didn't block much light so I woke up earlier than I would have liked.
Very close to Railway Station. Friendly staff. Quite rooms. Owner very helpful.
Central location. Cheerful staff
Lack of breakfast . Leak in bathroom through ceiling
close to station very friendly welcome on arrival and next morning clean and reasonably comfortable beds hot shower
very basic provision real need of redecoration shared toilet (2)/shower among 4(?) rooms no breakfast available unattractive from outside
