This is a beautiful hotel and staff were attentive and friendly. It was a luxury to have a clean, well kept small pool to dip in after a long journey. I had felt anxious about getting parked on site but that worked out okay for me, thank goodness. I was also able to get a healthy, tasty plant based meal after 8 pm and it was reassuring to know some items were available 24/7, as I'd been unsure when I would arrive. This is an older manor, meaning steps and such low pressure in the shower that if I raised the shower hear to just about 5 ft 2 (I am a shorter guest!), the water flow completely stopped. Taller folk might struggle with that, at least in the room I was given. I'd booked a single but got a nice, quiet double room, so I've no complaints One member of staff 'prowled' a bit, which I did find a little off-putting over dinner and breakfast, but to be fair they were so helpful, including to a visually impaired man who arrived, that I decided we 'got on' okay! The hotel allows dogs, so I had breakfast stuck between such wonderful cuteness - a great start to the day. On-site parking limitations might make me think twice but apart from that, I'd love to stay there again and I thought it was good value for money. I enjoyed my stay.
In a most spectacular location on the shores of England’s longest lake, Windermere, Low Wood Bay Resort & Spa is the Lake District’s first resort offering a number of facilities.

The room was beautiful, good size bathroom, liked the mini fridge but disappointing to get packet milk for a coffee machine. Just don’t find that sort of thing in this class of room. Facilities were great, lovely decor etc.

Windermere is very small and pretty, but you're better off going to Bowness if you want all that *plus* the views. Windermere was quieter than Bowness though, which makes it a great place to stay over if you're travelling to more touristy places nearby in the daytime. There is an amazing gift shop in Windermere on the corner, and the Tapas restaurant looked great, even though we didn't get time to eat there. The park on Park Road was lovely for dogs and kids, and big enough to have a proper walk around.

An average selection of shops and bars/restaurants.
An average selection of shops and bars/restaurants. Bowness-on-Windermere is approx 1 mile away, this has a better choice of bars/shops/restaurants. The bus station in Windermere is located near the main road entrance. Bus trips are currently £2 per person each way (April 2024) and we decided to travel by bus to Keswick and enjoy the stunning scenery, and no expensive parking charges. Will definitely be going back to Windermere.

I have fallen in love of Windermere.
I have fallen in love of Windermere. I love hiking and nature and this place have everything you need to hike for days, do cycling and much more. Ideal for solo travelers or to visit with family and dogs. I will probably repeat the experience but in summer as some trails are better done with sun conditions /dry paths. There are lots of nice places and different restaurants in Bowness with fantastic food to enjoy. I would really recommend Windermere and closer villages like Grasmere / Ambleside for anyone wanting to spend some days surrounded by nature.

First of all do not book this property with breakfast included. You basically just pay too much for toast and butter! Nearby town has very nice cafes. Also make sure your room is not damped like our’s was! It was unbelievable!
They never cleaned our room and had to ask four times for fresh towels! The location is very nice but unfortunately the quality of the hotel has dropped significantly since last time we stayed in it! It was a huge disappointment.

Visiting the lake and taking trips around it on boats was fun. There are a lot of restaurants and bars to visit.
Apart from visiting the lake and eating out at restaurants there isn't that much to to do.

The guest house was beautiful we stayed in the suite and it was exceptional the decor the comfort and everything about the room was a really high standard. You could sit outside on your oersonal terrace over looking the river . We met the staff on arrival and host the first morning both where so lovely chatty and friendly . The location was perfect walking distance to both windermere centre and bowness. We have stayed in a number of places in windermere and this was definitely our favorite. Like a home from home. We will be back 🙂
We stayed at the j’adore suite which was very lovely as it was away from the main hotel and felt like our own little place. we had the hot tub outside, spa bath and steam room. the room was very clean, fresh towels every day and it felt very cosy. We would have loved to extend our stay. Windermere lake was within 10 minutes walking distance and shops, restaurants and pubs were very close by. Also, breakfast and hospitality was 10/10 for us! We will be definitely visiting again.

Breakfast served in the room (we stayed in the retreat) was wonderful and tasty. Loved the spa bath and tv feature in the bathroom and the bed was really comfortable. The hotel is in a great location overlooking Lake Windermere. The staff were all very polite, welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful and hot. Celebrating a special birthday it was a very nice touch to have balloons, chocolates and a card from the hotel.
