Location Room was lovely and clean There was a wide variety for breakfast
The people in the room above us were up most of the night. We could hear them chatting and every time they moved in their room the floor squeaked!
The food was better than good That it wasn't uncomfortably smart warm friendly space for children to run and explore amazing toiletries i.e nice smelling and gave skin and hair a lovely soft feel.
No plug for wet shaving in sink Sink cracked
Beautiful setting, great staff, room excellent in general, would certainly recommend for a quiet retreat!
Rooms bit stuffy and very hot. One window wouldn't stay open contributing to the heat of the room.
Swimming pool, and great food. Really recommend this hotel to other families.
grounds, room size, dining rooms, heated swimming pool
lack of facilities, location wasn't too close to longleat or bath, it was cold at night
Great heated pool Beautiful character building Excellent restaurant food Wonderful picnic hamper Charming garden and courtyard
You can hear a bit of noise from other rooms but nothing serious.
Excellent location for exploring Stonehenge, Bath and Lacock. The staff were particularly wonderful in making us feel welcome in this lovely estate house. We chose to have dinner in the lounge and the bartender acted like a combination old-time butler and good friend. Service was lovely, food was marvelous. He explained keg vs. cask ales and gave advice on "don't miss" sites (eg. Lacock Village and Abbey). Ms. Peacock at the front desk went above and beyond when I left a portfolio in my room... arrangements to mail it back to me stretched on for over a week -my fault- and she was endlessly patient. After a long day sightseeing, how lovely to dine in a gourmet restaurant and then go upstairs to bed!!
Didn't want to leave
Staff, service, food, location, quality everything is spot on. We will and are recommending this Hotel to everyone.
Very nice location and building except for being very close to a noisy road. Very friendly and helpful staff. Food was excellent. Nice gardens to walk around.
Close to a busy road so quite a lot of noise in the bedroom with the window open. Smell of drains when bedroom window open.
2 rooms were booked for adults and children. We were given 1 room on the top floor and 1 room at the opposite side of the hotel in the annexe on the ground floor! when we complained we were told the hotel was fully booked and there was nothing the hotel could do about it. once in the top room, the tv remote wouldn't work, tis had to be taken to reception for new batteries. i was unable to sleep until after 3.30, the bed had a horizontal trough running right across the width of the bed. the mattress needed replacing. The second room and surrounding corridor smelt very damp. No help or discount or apology came from the management of the hotel for the incompetence of the booking. pictures of the hotel are lovely, but do not tell the whole story. A tired hotel, both the decor and level of service needs updating.
The setting is delightful, the food is delicious and the room was gorgeous. Even our 8 year old was impressed!
Hurricane Bertha put paid to our plans for a swim in the lovely outdoor pool!
Service, food. Facilities.
Rooms were a little stuffy in the heat.
Specifically the outdoor heated pool was a wonderful asset during the recent wonderful weather and in general it is in a lovely location plus the restaurant and the overall service was extremely good .
Friendly welcoming efficient staff and a wonderful hotel in beautiful garden setting. Excellent dinner menu and great breakfast. Worth deviating from the motorway to enjoy its many charms!
Gardens around the pool deserve more attention.
Beautiful hotel, friendly staff and very relaxing.
The setting was idyllic and the grounds and trees wonderful. The service was good and the staff very courteous. The food was excellent, as was the level of comfort and the rooms were very well appointed.
However two things were a little disappointing, there was no Spa available on the day that we all wanted a massage and treatment and secondly I believe that a little more attention should be paid to the small details, in the main lounge there were substantial tears in some of the sofas (making it a little tatty to say the least) and there is a definite need to re paint much of the public area which is looking in some areas very rundown. Easy things to fix and would make a great deal of difference!
Lovely comfortable beds, fab gardens. Couldn't fault the hotel.
lovely helpful staff, beautiful rooms and very up to date bathrooms
wi fi a bit slow but then we didn't come here to be on the computer all the time!
Beautiful hotel, very good breakfast and facilities.
The décor (fabulously tasteful), the staff (charming and efficient), the food (first class) and the rooms (delightful). Unexpectedly one of the best hotels we've stayed at in the past few years.
One warm glass of champagne but it was quickly replaced with grace and charm
Very welcoming, esp to the children eg organised an easter egg hunt for the morning of Easter Sunday; Beautiful building and gardens; Very accommodating, managed to fit all 5 of us into a not huge room but still very comfortable Overall a great Easter weekend stay and perfecly located for a visit to Lacock town and abbey
Breakfast service a little slow but it was the Easter w/e so possibly short-staffed
It was our Silver Wedding Anniversary & they made our stay extra special
Comfortable room, excellent food.
Some small issues with waiting staff: morning toast was a lottery and some staff were rather rushed.
Beautiful quite location and warm n cosy place to relax. Staff is exceptionally good and welcoming. Hats off to chef who took care of us on my b'day and baked a lovely cake. All in all amazing place to relax.
Cant think of anything.
the rooms are well appointed and very comfortable. the food is of good quality and exceptionally well presented and tastes good. there is a heated swimming pool available and the grounds are kept immaculate.
There was no complimentary bottled water available in the room upon arrival, and there was an additional charge of £2 for a speciality coffee (latte) with breakfast. These should be included with the rate of the room. The lights in the bathroom are on a movement sensor so come on if you get up in the night and went off twice whilst I was relaxing in the bath - and this was frustrating.
