The outside pool, in october! The brekfast qnd the comfy bed
The food was perhaps not quite as good as I had hoped for the money.
Beautiful house and surroundings! Lovely helpful staff! Great food! One lovely girl in particular brought my breakfast in with a lit candle on my birthday morning which was so touching!! A little bit of thoughtfulness that can make such a difference!! Recommend anyone to stay!!
Only a minor issue but IMO it let down such a lovely place just a little, out bathroom sink had large nasty cracks in it which look like they have been there for sometime and really should have been replaced esp when ur paying £145 per night!!!
Restaurant, staff, good parking, bedroom, comfort, excellent hotel.
Minor point bedroom lighting a common issue in many hotels.
only stayed one night, but everything, staff came round in evening to see if we wanted them to turn bed covers down and asked if we needed anything.
The bathroom was amazing, the bed was extremely comfortable, dinner was good and breakfast was also very good even if they did not actually serve us exactly what we ordered. Stunning grounds.
Smallish bedroom for the amount of furnitureof furniture. The two arm chairs at the bottom of the bed although nice and comfortable limit the amount of space you could move in. Spent more time climbing round thm but they were there to try and make the room comfortable. The "bar area" was given over to serve cream teas as were all the other tables and chairs in the reception rooms. We has to go find someone to serve us and the sat in pokey corner because every other table wax reserved.
Location Room was lovely and clean There was a wide variety for breakfast
The people in the room above us were up most of the night. We could hear them chatting and every time they moved in their room the floor squeaked!
We loved the feel of the guest house, and grounds and garden. We also enjoyed the outdoor heated pool. It was a wonderful start to our holiday and great way to recharge our energy after a long flight from oz. Australia
Nothing all good
The food was better than good That it wasn't uncomfortably smart warm friendly space for children to run and explore amazing toiletries i.e nice smelling and gave skin and hair a lovely soft feel.
No plug for wet shaving in sink Sink cracked
Beautiful setting, great staff, room excellent in general, would certainly recommend for a quiet retreat!
Rooms bit stuffy and very hot. One window wouldn't stay open contributing to the heat of the room.
Swimming pool, and great food. Really recommend this hotel to other families.
grounds, room size, dining rooms, heated swimming pool
lack of facilities, location wasn't too close to longleat or bath, it was cold at night
Great heated pool Beautiful character building Excellent restaurant food Wonderful picnic hamper Charming garden and courtyard
You can hear a bit of noise from other rooms but nothing serious.
Excellent location for exploring Stonehenge, Bath and Lacock. The staff were particularly wonderful in making us feel welcome in this lovely estate house. We chose to have dinner in the lounge and the bartender acted like a combination old-time butler and good friend. Service was lovely, food was marvelous. He explained keg vs. cask ales and gave advice on "don't miss" sites (eg. Lacock Village and Abbey). Ms. Peacock at the front desk went above and beyond when I left a portfolio in my room... arrangements to mail it back to me stretched on for over a week -my fault- and she was endlessly patient. After a long day sightseeing, how lovely to dine in a gourmet restaurant and then go upstairs to bed!!
Didn't want to leave
Staff, service, food, location, quality everything is spot on. We will and are recommending this Hotel to everyone.
Very nice location and building except for being very close to a noisy road. Very friendly and helpful staff. Food was excellent. Nice gardens to walk around.
Close to a busy road so quite a lot of noise in the bedroom with the window open. Smell of drains when bedroom window open.
2 rooms were booked for adults and children. We were given 1 room on the top floor and 1 room at the opposite side of the hotel in the annexe on the ground floor! when we complained we were told the hotel was fully booked and there was nothing the hotel could do about it. once in the top room, the tv remote wouldn't work, tis had to be taken to reception for new batteries. i was unable to sleep until after 3.30, the bed had a horizontal trough running right across the width of the bed. the mattress needed replacing. The second room and surrounding corridor smelt very damp. No help or discount or apology came from the management of the hotel for the incompetence of the booking. pictures of the hotel are lovely, but do not tell the whole story. A tired hotel, both the decor and level of service needs updating.
The setting is delightful, the food is delicious and the room was gorgeous. Even our 8 year old was impressed!
Hurricane Bertha put paid to our plans for a swim in the lovely outdoor pool!
Service, food. Facilities.
Rooms were a little stuffy in the heat.
Specifically the outdoor heated pool was a wonderful asset during the recent wonderful weather and in general it is in a lovely location plus the restaurant and the overall service was extremely good .
Friendly welcoming efficient staff and a wonderful hotel in beautiful garden setting. Excellent dinner menu and great breakfast. Worth deviating from the motorway to enjoy its many charms!
Gardens around the pool deserve more attention.
Beautiful hotel, friendly staff and very relaxing.
The setting was idyllic and the grounds and trees wonderful. The service was good and the staff very courteous. The food was excellent, as was the level of comfort and the rooms were very well appointed.
However two things were a little disappointing, there was no Spa available on the day that we all wanted a massage and treatment and secondly I believe that a little more attention should be paid to the small details, in the main lounge there were substantial tears in some of the sofas (making it a little tatty to say the least) and there is a definite need to re paint much of the public area which is looking in some areas very rundown. Easy things to fix and would make a great deal of difference!
Lovely comfortable beds, fab gardens. Couldn't fault the hotel.
