Staff are very friendly. Food is good. Will use this hotel again
Friendly helpful staff, good grub, comfy bed.
Nowt not to like.
Staff unbelievably indifferent and cold.
Convenient for York. Staff helpful.
Hotel bit tired. Never been in a hotel where beds never made up or changed. Lack of place to hang bath sheets to dry - only single hook behind door. Towels never changed. They did silly things like change mugs that didn't need changing but didn't make up the beds or empty bin.
The room was comfortable and I would say the whole place was pretty average.
Breakfast very average, boiled mushrooms which went cold after returning the breakfast because they had omitted to provide any eggs. The place was ok but needs a lick of paint. Mould in the shower cubicle and a dead spider and someone else's hair in the corner of the bedroom.
Vague odour of cooking. Was further from York centre than I realised.
The place needs renovating. We stayed in hotels and B&B's for 3 weeks and this was by far the worst accommodation. It really does need some money spent on it, as it has the potential to be an attractive hotel. We were very disappointed.
Had a nice quiet room at the back. Breakfast was good, you can have anything you want! Good car parking.Overall a pleasant stay.
Hotel a little dated!
Good location 15 mins from York Minster on foot and easily accessed from the ring road. Free on site parking a bonus in York
The room we were allocated was too small to call a double. The bed had to be placed against the wall and there was no room for bedside tables or a shelf behind.
Comfy bed. Good breakfast.
Reception was not very well presented. Room decor a bit dated.
The food was ok - freshly cooked and not packaged. lovely garden area. Helpful night receptionist who let us have dinner in our room while we settled the baby in and provided breakfast in the room for him as he eats early.
Moody kitchen/bar staff wandering around with "dunno" answers to questions. Can hear other guests walking up the stairs/banging doors. It's a bit more of a B&B than a hotel - if it was billed as this I would have been more pleased with the visit. It is overpriced for what it is.
Excellent food, room very good. All females at hotel where friendly, helpful and very pleasant.
Shortage of loo paper in room, no spare. Bad attitude of male at reception on leaving, who appeared to be in a temper, throwing keys about, and not so much as a comment or thank you.
Easy to find, nice walking distance to town centre, nice garden to chill out with a beer.
Only little draw back as we were in front room, to let air in you need window open but early noise from main road disturbs sleep
Hospitality, breakfasts. The beds were clean and comfy. Plenty of hot water for baths etc.
Room 7, needs bathroom refurb. The window frames in all of our rooms were dirty and there was cobwebs and dust on lights and shades.
the hotel had every thing for me and my mate as a base for going to the races! good food, good sleep and good beer! and not forgetting the homely staff.
Very nice well run hotel. Thanks Jonmac tyres.
Friendly staff. Proximity to city.
As we were put in a room at the very top floor it was very difficult to lug our bags up the many stairs. One of us became ill as a result of this, meaning we had to cancel our next booking and travel to relatives to seek medical attention. To be advised of this would be helpful and be offered more assistance.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Large room and very clean.
Staff and location
everything - staff, room, breakfast, location, car parking very useful, super comfy beds, cant fault anything
nothing at all!
Room was spacious and light 15 min easy walk into town -staff helpful with info i.e. booked our taxi and recomended eating places
Our room was full of spiders, cobwebs and a few moths - looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a while......the bath tap for the hot water wouldnt work, had to run a bath from the shower - the extractor fan in the bathroom wasnt working so everything steamed up very quickly. Some of the light bulbs had gone - poor maintenance. There had been a wedding booked so would have been nice to have been forewarned as banging music and wedding reception just below our room till midnight - not nice when you have come away for a relaxing break and paid £108 for the privilege. The full monty breakfast was poor - sausage only cooked on one side - yuk - tinned mushrooms - burnt toast......very disappointed! I complained to the staff but dont think my views were took seriously so thought id mention it here.......
Enjoyed our stay at the hotel, The room was very nice and it had an iron/board, hair dryer and refreshments. The staff were very welcoming and pleasant. We enjoyed our breakfast that had a great deal of choice. Location was only 20 minutes walk to the centre of York.
Very close to walk into York, garden lovely and some of the staff very helpful. Room was clean and bright and comfortable.
Needs to be painted and cleaned in all reception areas, had cobwebs and dead flies on some of the curtains.
It is in a great location, the staff were all friendly and helpful and the room was very clean and spacious, and cant fault the breakfast. would recommend and stay again.
