How cheap it was
Location. Good car parking.
The quality of the room was unfortunately not as good as on previous visits that I have stayed at this hotel.. There was tea and coffee available however there were no cups, had to use one of the flimsy plastic cups from the bathroom which wasn't ideal. The bed was adequate however there were only two pillows which hardly had any filling in either of them.
For £35 per night we did not have high expectations - but we were only after a place to stay for a night out. The guy on reception was really helpful and friendly. Struck lucky with a refurbished room - though no window.
The price was great for the location as well as the service that was provided. The food was also very good and the staff were also friendly.
Only a minor point that housekeeping could improve on the clean up of the room and replacement of toiletries. Other than this there were no major issues.
Stain on bedding, lack of staff, lift got stuck, dining area poor, requested change of bedding and not changed, room freezing
parking ,room size ,staff
Dog barking next door early in the morning , no mirror next to plugs hair dryer etc
Staff very pleasant.
The dirty room and cold. There was no hairdryer and no welcome pack with info about the hotel and useful numbers ... Like reception ect. Drunk guests fighting in the corridor most of the night. and being very noisy... Very frightening experience. It made my stay an unpleasant experience. I regret my stay.
Warm & comfortable
Only 2 teabags - having to go down to reception for more. Being told I had to pay £7 + for a slice of toast and tea. Not everyone wants the eat as much as you can breakfast therefore ate elsewhere.
Location and value excellent. Staff very pleasant.
Room 524 mattress lumpy...needs replaced. Extractor fan in bathroom very dirty!
I stayed here back in march this year as it was just out of the hustle and bustle of the city and seem ed good value for money. On arrival room looked fine and was suitable for what i wanted (just a place to shower and sleep). After a long day travelling adn walking around the city i was looking forward to a long hot shower, what i didnt expect was the shower to leak all over the bathroom floor and soak through all my clothes and the bath towel. I reported this the next morning and they reassured me when i arrived back that evening it would be fixed. it wasnt, they told me the shower curtain was too short and they didnt have any others. I asked if i could be moved and they moved me into a slightly bigger room with a bath for which i was grateful. overall my stay in March was fine apart from the faff with the room changing and sodden wet clothes so i thought id give it the benefit of the doubt and book again for a long weekend break in Dec. I booked a double executive suite and on arrival they put me into a normal double, reassuring me there wasnt much difference and that id be warmer. ME and my partner went to the room to find that we had an adjoining door, the toilet wouldnt flush and the window wouldnt close! So they moved us again.. Into the family room next door, This room was on the other side of the adjoining door and had the added pleasure of hairs in the bathroom and round the toilet seat. Once again we expressed our unhappiness and they eventually let us have a look at a double executive room. The guy working that shift was very nice and we ended up in a lovely room (although he was right. it was freezing and they were poo marks in the toilet that looked like they had stained on). They also offered us a free bottle of wine that they changed to a breakfast when we said we didnt drink. On occasions the card didnt work in the door and as we were in the attic with no lift we were having to venture back to down to reception frequently.
The hotel was handy to the centre of Edinburgh
Our room was not cleaned when we came back in the late afternoon
Was my first visit in Edinburgh but the receptionist Maddy made my stay an excellent one. Great customer service, excellent attitude. She helped to plan my journey for next day. She is a great asset to the company
Telephone in guest room to call reception would be a good idea rather than coming down.
Bed springs stuck into you Dirty carpet and bathroom, pubic hairs on duvet cover Rooms not made up once in a 4 day stay Room was cold Useless staff TV didn't work Slum Hotel
Pleasant staff Free WiFi
Filthy carpet in room Mouldy bathroom Faulty lifts Bathroom door didn't close Very noisy location
heater is not working～so cold inside
The hotel was being refurbished Workmen and debris No parking available Bed very uncomfortable Disorganised
Untrained staff, dirt everywhere, old broken beds, foreign staff who cannot understand you, muddy carpets, holes in walls, prison cell basic rooms. CLOSE THIS PLACE
I liked the staff, they were all so friendly and welcoming
The sink was dirty with hairs all round, the toilet had brown wipeable marks on the bottom of the bowl and toilet wouldn't flush properly. The bed was uncomfortable and also contained 2-4 curly hairs on arrival! Very unhappy at Britania, not what I am used to from them at all.
The step in the bedroom with no sign and the staff in the reception never told us the truth about the taxi s delay they said to us taxi will be there in 5 min we end it waiting for 45 minutes... I asked them to find out what's wrong with the taxi they kept telling us stories instead calling the taxi company .... The service quality was poor
Window wouldn't close properly Heating didn't work Cleaner tried to get in to room at 10:10 when checkout was 11
