20 minute and easy to navigate walk from city centre. Great location for Modern Art Gallery. Comfy bed. Respectable price for facilities. Enjoyed stay.
Location, and staff friendly.
Paid extra for an Executive Suite, tried three rooms 115,116,129,427 before finding one with drawers, but still only had one chair. The mattress is so thin you can feel and hear every spring, never had a good sleep. These rooms are less than standard, but was not offered a rebate on the extra I paid.
Very helpful staff & cheap!
Bed was very bouncy & creaky. Shower needed a decent clean on the tiles & more power would have been nice.
Cleanliness. Standard of room condition, very bad pair work and bathroom needed replaced
location was so close to everything.Staff where very helpful.Didnt eat there but area looked very nice,Maybe a few more lounge chairs around just to relax while waiting
They where renovating was moved three times but staff where very considerate considering the upset.Parking was not very good as not many available places even if you paid.Fire alarm went off due to work being down
Hotel was having work done ,carpets were dirty with cement, would not have booked if I was told about this , had to wait 4 hours for the room, would not stay again
Staff were very friendly and helpful bar stayed open late short walk to the west end
locks broken on the newly renovated rooms. very few car parking spaces
Location:15mins far from main sights, peaceful area, on the bank of the small river and next to contemporary galiries with wonderful parks, super relaxing!!! beds were ok, kettle, hair dryer were in the room. acceptable for 1 or 2 nights.
cold rooms, uncomfortable, look like old cheap Soviet Union's hotel, high price for the breakfast, awful bathrooms, looks worse than public toilets. not clean.
Internet Taxi service Breakfast Takeaway service
No shower curtain in bathroom Room wasn't cleaned on arrival and throughout my stay Hair in bathroom
Reasons to not stay here: -Way too far away, the bus stops at 7pm and from then on it's at 20-30minute walk with hills. -internet didn't work the whole 3 nights I was here. - the only hotel I've ever transferred rooms in. The first room had a dirty bathroom. Hair in the shower, tampon wrapper on the floor, blood on the bathroom bin next to the toilet, pubic hair in the bath. Was like it had been setup on purpose it was so bad. - reception saw my photographs, no apology, just a new room key. Moved rooms - massive room size with tiny little tv way too far away. (Double length room I guess) - bed was just horrible!! Worst I've ever slept in. Not even exaggerating, look at my other reviews, I usually give 4 and 5 stars to everyone. - bed was made each day but no cleaning. Not even new towels. Rubbish not emptied. Like they went in, quickly pulled the sheet up and left. -So noisy! I can sleep through most anything, not this. Walls are paper thin. - informed the hotel of all these issues as we left. They said sorry. - saw a lady complain about the cleanliness of her bathroom, they handed her a bottle of spray and a cloth lol Tldr; don't waste your money. So bad!
Nothing it's dirty food rubbish one member of staff needs sacking sitting at the bar drunk begging drinks and getting aggressive amgela not good for custom
The staff one girl begging drinks very loud and aggressive Angela room was dirty food was rubbish it was that bad people was bringing their own food in I would not revoked this hotel to anybody
Proximity to the royal mile
Parking arrangements Breakfast options nil and expensive
Did not like the fact we had to pay for breakfast. Given its not the best hotel we have stayed at for a simliar price which included breakfast.
Dirty carpet, cold room sheets missing off beds. Room smelled.
The female member of staff behind the bar when we arrived on 14/10/2014 was good at her job, polite and very friendly, it's a shame we didn't see her again for the rest of our stay. Food was good and plenty of variety. Wii fi was excellent
renovations getting done which we didn't realise when we booked. Wouldn't stay here again to far away from the city centre and even thought there was a bus stop right outside the hotel we only say 1 and that was when we were heading back home
Central location, staff pleasant and helpful.
2 customers waiting to complain, When I got to my room it was very cold as the window had been left open all day. Room was also for disabled persons, poor upkeep damaged bedside lamp, tired decoration, parking area very small for size of hotel does warrant 3 star rating.
Value for money and location
Nothing not to like for the money
Having to pay for parking and breakfast area was like a cattle market
Smoking room available at not made to feel like a leper. Windows which open and easy operating heating.
Nice location. Good design of the rooms. Comfortable bed. Extra request I needed was solved immediately. Always hot water when showering. Coffee and tea in the room. Three chairs in the room. Quick check out: 1 minute.
Wifi only at the reception and not working for two days. Bathroom with hair from somebody else. Overall cleanliness of this was poor. 20 minutes to check in. Noisy surrounding perhaps due to the reconstruction No flexibility for late check out: if after 11am, you need to pay 20 pounds.
The bed was comfortable
The room we booked wasent actually booked they wanted a young couple to sleep in two seperate beds We got given a disabled room after we complaimed about seperate beds on going into the room it was messy cups of tea out tea bags on the side and towl on the floor Staff cleaned it when we complained but was not good enogh
The view from the window, (it would have been nice to have a handle on the window). The location, Edinburgh is a great city. It was very cheap. When the work is finished I'm sure it will be much improved.
Having to ask for tea bags & milk - (we did have 3 hair dryers though). Room not serviced one day. Wifi didn't work. Nowhere to put our clothes apart from hangers.
Excellent central but quietet location. Hotel obviously
Hotel obviously old and a bit tatty around the edges, but would Def. stay again
