Score from 580 reviews Good
This independent family-owned hotel provides a peaceful location just outside Chester's historic centre, yet only a 10-minute walk away from the city centre’s amenities and attractions.

Score from 565 reviews Very good
Price, central location very close to railway station
Old, used facilities. Very poor bed and old used linen. Very noisy - close to main street. Very cold at night!
Just 5 minutes walk from train station.
Décor is worn and dated. I could feel the metal springs of the mattress through the very thin cover.
Excellent location, close to station, good breakfast, pleasant staff, comfortable room.
Location, nice staff and new fluffy towels
Very poor decor. Shoddy bathroom and poor breakfast.
The rooms were old fashioned, the bathroom was dirty , not cleaned properly, cracked toilet , rubbish shower , carpets need replacing.
Location was good, staff nice and friendly, staff did do all they could to accommodate us. In fact one couple did exchange room because they wanted a shower and there idea of a shower was a rubber pipe thing, you had to have a sence of humour, We went for races so was aware hotel was not great from reviews. No massive shocks really, sheets and towels were clean though.
Hotel was in a very poor state needs tens of thousands spent on it. We were in a group of 8 so had 4 rooms so know all rooms were extremely dated. Bathrooms were the worst, water was hot and then cold, never even tried again luckily only stayed two nights all of us said that, toilets took some flushing, some rooms stunk of what can only come from the sewage. Didn't complain didn't see the point wasn't the staffs fault just lack of repair.
It was clean an cosey every thing you need near by restaurant pub and a short walk in to town near the train station so you don't have to drive if you don't want to
No car parking at the hotel
Beds were comfy, clean room
No shower in the room. The hotel could do with a revamp as its certainly not worth £85 for a night!
Location really close to the venue I was attending for a gig. Also very close to the station. Staff vey pleasant and informative.
Very dated. Could certainly benefit from a face lift but it wasn't expensive (for Chester) and as I was alone and staying for only one night, it did the job.
Starting to look a bit tired
Cleanliness, cost, space, smell
Staff were great, but Hotel very tired and in need of a good updating
quite a few noisy guests, broken toilet with towel underneath to catch dips, shower didn't always work
convenient location lovely helpful friendly staff (well the one i met was) comfy bed
noisy plumbing bit grubby/dated decor. breakfast too early on a sunday
Very friendly and helpful staff, very convenient location, brilliant value for money
the decor is dated but great hotel for the money.
Know what you get
No cats in the rooms.
I had a lot of food for breakfast. The staff was helpful. When I felt sick one of the members of the stuff gave me the needed support. It was very much appreciated! Thank you.
It was very cold in the room. There was no heating. The blankets were thin and I felt cold all night. The room is very small and a bit unclean. The TV set did not work.
Great location next to the station Clean and tidy room Friendly and chatty staff Well maintained
Grossly slow shower, single noisy bed,
The friendliness of the staff was very welcoming and reassuring.0
No car park
Everything, it was awful. The bed was hard, staff was not welcoming at all! It wasn't clean, the room was disgusting, only stayed few hours and had to book a new hotel! Not worth £60!!!
wasn't brilliant but what do you expect for the good price, room dated but clean, couldn't face brekky after my night out so not fair to comment but tables looked nice, little bar there, comfy tv room downstairs, so close to the train station so bonus points there. :)
staff very good. LOcation good.
In need of of alot of improvements.
Managers attitude . Was rude . No plug in sink , shower not working properly . Iron a health risk . No vegetarian option when told there was and had paid 4.50 a ngt for it . Toilet cracked and bathroom dirty . Burn marks on carpets . Someone old jumper left in wardrobe , so goes to show just how much they clean the room .ud be better off staying in the public toilets on eastgate st
The room was a good size with plenty of space. The breakfast, which you had to pay for was excellent and as it was self serve you could have as much as you wanted
The shower wasn't great, the water temperature kept jumping to scolding hot and the fixture wasn't brilliant.
