Quiet, comfortable and close to the M4 so I could get to Heathrow early next morning.
Good food. Very dog friendly Welcoming staff. Quiet but convenient location.
Bedroom and bathroom very tired
Service was excellent, food was great, location perfect for visiting highclere castle, would definitely recommend it!
Banging Doors throught the night
The location countryside.
Room very small and not very good shower. All a bit shabby!
Food in restaurant was excellent Good Location for the area we were in Very Dog Friendly and both our dogs were welcomed and treated well.
Some parts of the pub/hotel were looking a bit tired and in need of a good clean or refurbishment
Far to much money for rooms
The lady owner and George the dog
Breakfast, room, location - a very pleasant stay
Staff in the evening at bar didn't seem very organised but could just have caught them at a bad time.
Nice people - cute village Good food
It was fine - but usually other places are a little more tidy and there were some little corners which were dusty - but otherwise it was very pleasant
good food quiet night in the hotel
hard bed noisy banging door by our room
3 choices on the menu were unavailable, room 7 bathroom was dirty & in desperate need of upgrading,
The location was good as am researching family history in that area.
At £85 per night We expected a lot better. First impressions not good as had to manoeuvre our way around publicans, drinkers and dog in bar and than back again to get to our room. Up the stairs past the very untidy office overflowing into corridor full of clutter. The ensuite bathroom was grubby as was the rest of the place. On a Friday night only 6 people eating, no locals. The food was ordinary, my fish batter awful. Breakfast food was OK but everything needs a good clean: Dirty ring inside my cup and juice glass not washed properly. Will not be staying here again.
We thought this place was Cozy and comfortable. Nice and Clean! We enjoyed our stay, good fish and chips for dinner, and a Great Breakfast.... Owner Helen was a Sweet Lady!
we arrived to find dog mess outside our room, the drinks at the bar were overpriced and the barman tried to charge us twice. the route back to our room was full of rubbish and mess, then the hostess was cussing about another guest in the bar with other paying guests still in there. not good, will not return.
Location and food
Room needed upgrading. Noise from pool room annoying - I requested a quiet room as I had had a long journey and had to be alert for business meetings the next day
The food and service were absolutely excellent and couldn't be faulted!
The size of the room was a disappointment, as was the fact there were only enough "accessories" (towels, tooth mugs, coffee mugs, side tables) for one person when we had booked for two.
Friendliness of the staff
Good decor and friendly staff
Rather meagre breakfast
The property looks neglected and out of date. With some TLC it could be a lovely venue. But in its current state looks tired
Room was not cleaned properly, dog roaming around, dog hairs everywhere & clutter in all corridors. We were given a twin room despite booking a double room.
staff are very friendly and polite. food and choice of drink is really good and very good value. well served and presentable place, we will be returning soon.
Service was good.
Only 1 socket in bedroom.
Quality of food, service and location.
The bathroom had a broken lamp. The bedroom had an insufficient number of accessible plug sockets, with thin walls (i.e. noisy) and an old uncomfortable mattress.
