Friendly staff Handy for the Abbey
Road noise Service in the restaurant, food orders should be written down Average food Lead water pipes in the bedroom
the view of the abbey
Near the centre nice meal in restaurant Staff good beer prices quite good,
Our room faced the road, too hot to close double glazing. Road facing room quite small, ok for one/two nights but not much more.
Good comfort. Great value. Friendly staff.
Rooms and stairs a bit tired looking
The location is superb - opposite the Abbey, close to the Mill Spur of the river. Free parking is available next to the hotel. The bedroom was very clean with a comfortable bed and modern ensuite shower. The bar/restaurant offers reasonably priced meals. Staff were always polite, friendly and helpful. The full English breakfast was an excellent start to the day!
The bedrooms were rather warm. The ventilation from the kitchen was next to our room, and made too much noise for us to open the window. The window in our son's room had a sign saying not to open it as it was awaiting repair. Although a kettle was provided, the water from the sink had a taste. Fortunately we had bottled water with us.
Room Food Crisp white cotton bed linen Level of cleanliness
the politeness and warmth of all staff towards all (and they were sorely tested at times). the way our food and drinks were served made us feel we were valued. the quirkiness of the old building and the warm and comfortable room.
the toilet bowl in our room had brown limescale marks. the staff being treated with terrible rudeness by customers/visitors for no reason. there were no stocks into which we could have had the trouble maker constrained.
The room was warm, the pub seemed nice, the location was amazing and the staff were nice and friendly.
There was a weird banging/digging noise in the courtyard outside our room all night and kept us both awake!! The shower was broken too!
Perfect location. Bedrooms were well furnished and had an excellent bathroom
Dogs in the public rooms (bar area)
The hotel was in the center of the town. Parking was good. The outside of the hotel was an old Tudor style building. The main part of the hotel was the correct style for the area.
Room was full of the last persons clean and soiled clothes. Pets are allowed. Dog barked all night. Same dog was in the restaurant and barked every time some walked past.
The room and bed was good
The bathroom tap was loose The phone did,nt work The restaurant evening meal was sadly tasteless
The staff were surly and never smiled. The reception desk was constantly unstaffed. The breakfasts were cold and when returned were still cold. Meals were dried out and obviously kept warm . The room furnishings were of poor quality, only 1 bedside table yet a space where 1 had been. Room unbearably hot, though no heating was on and windows only able to open a tiny fraction. Creaking floor boards from occupants of room above and the heat made sleeping impossible. We gave in and came home a day early. We had gone there to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary , having spent our wedding night there in 1974, and can seriously say it has not improved any, apart from the room having an en-suite, which was lacking back then. Will never return, we wanted to make new memories, but now we have just spoiled our original memories too.
Room was lovely. Food good value and jug of pimms outstanding value.
Bathroom could be cleaner. However would not be put of I have high standards when it comes to cleaning
Staff~ all helpful ,obliging and friendly. The food~ excellent value and delicious. Lots of tea/coffee etc provide in room.
First stay...room was noisy as next to kitchen air~con No shower cubicle...shower over bath
Toilet refused to flush on last night. No one to really sort it and had to use next door bathroom - the room was unoccupied!
The pleasant service, the food and the general ambience
Ambience Convenience for Abbey
In ancient building, what you gain in atmosphere you lose in ability to keep it clean, etc
Staff were very good. Breakfast was excellent and location was also excellent
Room 21 was extremely poor very dirty. mould around the shower. A hole in the floor at the side of the bed was covered by a carpet! The floor was dreadfully noisy whenever you moved in the toilet. Very little room to move in the bathroom.
Historic surroundings gave this hotel a homely but unique feel. The staff were excellent and looked after me as a lone visitor, finding a table in the restaurant I was happy with.I particularly liked the steak and salad offer, just enough and delicious. There was a wedding being held at the hotel and I was amply warned about it,it didn't interfere with my stay and even the noise from the disco was minimal.
As with these old buildings some things are hard to update and it was particularly hot in some areas.
Location good. Food good, and convenient to have restaurant/pub in hotel.
After a busy few days, ate early intending to have a restful evening watching t.v. This wasn't working. Room wasn't as good as on previous occasions and bathroom needed maintenance and updating. Disappointed this time, but may go again hoping for improvement.
Clean room, friendly & helpful staff, good breakfast, great location.
Low cold water pressure in room but not a big problem.
Being able to walk across the road to Tewkesbury Abbey. The room had an iron and ironing board and the bathroom had a window.
The single room looked nothing like the room in the photo and was certainly not worth the amount I paid as VAT was added onto the cost of the room and I was surprised but no longer had my confirmation to check whether this should happen. The breakfast had a good choice on the menu but the buffet looked tired and had been displayed with a lack of care. The croissants tasted stale. The internet was not working when I stayed and although this had been put onto Booking.com, it was not clear. I would not have booked the hotel if I'd understood this.
Excellent service, courteous staff, good food, cosy bedrooms.
Lack of lift and WiFi unavailable
