Please see below To the Manager at the Bell Hotel Epping Hello, my name is Mr Michael Allen. I stayed at your hotel on Saturday night the 19th May 2012 with my wife and 5 year old daughter. The event we were attending was my sons engagement party. We arrived at about 1830 hrs and left for the party at about 7.50pm. Just before we left the room we noticed that there was water leaking into the bathroom from the bottom rail of the towel radiator. I immediately called reception and put a number of towels under the leak to soak up the water which was by now dripping very fast from the radiator. I explained to reception that we were about to leave and asked that the leak be fixed whilst we were out. We came back to the room about midnight to find that the so called repair was a small amount of white tape wrapped around the point of the leak with a black tray left underneath and water still leaking at a significant rate into the tray. The tray which probably held about 3 or 4 litres was almost full and had to be emptied and put back under the leak. I phoned reception to complain and was told that we are sorry but there are no other rooms to transfer you to. I asked why the leak had not been fixed and was told by the male receptionist that he could not do anything else until the morning. It was now very late and we needed to get to sleep. However with the rate of the leak clearly filling up the tray every few hours or so I ended up worrying all night about the bathroom flooding and had to get up up three times during the night to empty the tray. Had I not done so then the room would have flooded. This really spoilt our stay and in my view was totally unacceptable. I find it astonishing that the tape was considered to be an acceptable repair. Was anyone qualified called out to fix the problem? I doubt it as surely no plumber would have possibly considered the taping of the leak adequate.

The hotel was easy to find. Car parking was ample and conveniently placed for unloading direct to our room. Breakfast was very good and served by helpful staff. Overall our room was comfortable, clean and well equipped. The bed mattress was past its best and sagged toward the middle. However, previous stays, in other rooms, have been fine.

Breakfast was cooked very well Down at heel, scruffy, worn out, threadbare carpets, chair with the seat fallen through, wretched beds and horrible heavy duvets. The whole place is tired and worn out. Best Western used to be a guarantee of real quality. This was little better than a backpackers hostel.

Reception Staff very helpful. Good location for event I needed to attend. Rooms were furnished nice and bed was comfortable. Didnt like the glassed corridor walk to rooms, reminded me of school not a hotel. Restaurant had no atmosphere. I felt apologetic for eating there, as no other people in when we arrived to eat at 8.30pm. One other person came into eat about 15 minutes later.

It is a very convenient location with plenty of parking. The hotel was in need of renevation and judging by my room this is now happening. My room and bathroom were newly decorated in a very tasteful way. It was nice to have a decent television.

Easy to access, free parking and Wifi. Tea coffee in rooms and biscuits were replaced when used with various selections. Bar meals were actually excellent and far better than I was expected also reasonably priced. Staff were courteous within the bar and breakfast rooms and efficient at reception. Rooms were clean and tidy with fresh towels daily. This hotel is my top choice for this area particularly for business use but would recommend the executive rooms The decor a little tired
