Score from 191 reviews Very good
The Hotel is so convenient for the shops and restaurants and the Monday market, which we really enjoyed. It is so easy to get to the places that we like to re-visit and meet up with family and friends. Epping is a vibrant place and we love the forest and surrounding countryside.
Facilities were very good Location suited our purpose Nice to see full set of toiletries. Bed very comfortable
No toilet brush in bathroom Only one of three Window Shutters closed. With no curtains this was a problem.
When I booked my e-mail told me breakfast was £6.95 but I was charged £8.95. Plus when I complained about noise and could I speak to manager he was not available
The room was big and a good bed
The Restaurant was terrible Very poor service
Staff where friendly and helpful
Rooms were average for executive rooms and ours had a broken toilet seat
Receptionist very helpful, as were all the staff. Room was comfortable though no air conditioning and good bathroom. Bar lunch was freshly made and good value. Easily accessed.
A bit lacking in atmosphere/personality.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Unfortunately the smoke alarms went off at 3.30 a.m.in our block which was very scary. the staff were very apologetic but nobody seemed to know the reason why it went off.
Friendly staff and a good location for Waltham abbey and surrounding area including m25 access.
Average facilities; some of which weren't working - my room phone was broken for example. Incredibly overpriced for what it is - I expected a 3-4* hotel and this is a just a decent roadside motel.
Recently decorated room that was very clean and comfortable . A good size tv too. Breakfast was a help yourself buffet that was well cooked and reasonably presented .
the barmaid very polite
having to leave half way through the nigh t as my daughter got rushed to hospital to have her baby :-)
The bar was nice Nice beds
Towels smelt of curry Pillows were hard
Staff friendly and helpful
Location, staff, breakfast very good.
We had asked for a twin room and had to have a double. Should have let us know beforehand.. There was excessive noise from other guests in the early hours in the carpark and up and down the corridors.
The staff were friendly and helpful
Overall there was a good selection for breakfast, location is fairly good if needing access to an underground station. Most staff helpful.
I was checked in to a room of lower standard as some of my family were staying in rooms on the ground floor which seem to have been newly refurbished. In the evening I discovered the radiator was on full, was not able to turn this off and it was making the room very hot. Tried to call reception-unable to do this from my room as phone was unplugged and I realised this was because the phone line didn't work so had to call from my sister's room to report the problem. The first receptionist was unable to solve the problem and assured me he would let the night manager know as he was on duty in 10 minutes. I waited 30 minutes before my sister went to reception to check and the night manager told her he was unaware of this. The night manager was also unable to solve the problem and I asked if I could be moved to another room (as it was coming up to midnight and I told him I needed some sleep as I was getting married in the morning!), he was not sure if there was one available, but eventually I was moved to a different room after some time. If staff are aware that not all of the facilities work in the rooms I am not sure if they should be letting these rooms (especially at the same rate as rooms that are of a much higher standard) and if they are not fully booked I feel they should try to avoid giving these rooms out if it is not necessary to do so. I was also a little bit disappointed at what seems to be poor communication (and a sense of urgency to help resolve a problem) between staff.
Comfortable room with ensuite bathroom
Night clubbers returning at 3am, 4am & 5am shouting and slamming doors so woken up several times. Noisy traffic accelerating from traffic lights in front of hotel
Not very clean stairs looked like they hadn't been cleaned for years piles of leaves and cobwebs on stair wells.Breakfast only served until 9am got down to breakfast at 8.35 to find they had run out of nearly everything only two mini criosants left when asked for more we were told there were none left wouldn't stay there again. Also asked for a ground floor room as my has a heart condition only to find we were on the first floor.
Will definitely consider in future.
Didn't like the boards on the windows at all. They reduced window size to only two thirds when opened. Whoever designed the boards must be fired. What happened to good curtains for goodness sake?
Lots of noise during the night from residents in room above
I paid £150 for 2 nights and the room was the same standard as a hotel that should cost £25 a night, It was also very cold !!
Receptionist was excellent, very helpful. Bed very comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble.
very nice spacious room, clean. Comfortable
the decor outside of the rooms is a bit tired and dated, but looks as though they are freshening it up
