Friendly staff, fantastic room (we had a suite room 217) mini bar was restocked pleasant surprise. Hotel having renovation at the time of visit so no spa or pool so hence lower score with facilities. Breakfast was tasty. We didn't try the wifi so can't comment on that.
Newer more modern room,shower fab
Bed very soft on edges
Comfortable bed, very clean room with great restaurant that was good value
In the middle of refurb but still a nice hotel
The bedroom was fabulous, and the bed very comfy, it was clean and modern breakfast was great, service was brilliant, tho, i had coffee splashed over me, as the vacuum container had a fit !!!
I asked for a quiet room, they put me on the top floor, by the service area, bins, linen, and at 5:40am a van was outside and the driver was chatting to someone, it was poor thinking to put me there … no lifts, meant i had to walk up to the top floor, the decor was tired and being refurbished, it looked like a hostel … very poor value for money, wish i could get my money back, it was dire … the wines were very overpriced and the chicken caesar salad consisted of a load of lettuce, some warm anaemic looking chicken and tonnes of dressing, no anchovies, nothing more, 13 quid for that … outrageous
Bathroom was beautiful, drench walk in shower and bath!
Room was very dark, furniture in the lounge was very old and yellow stripes???
The sheer quality of the décor and fittings. Combined with very pleasant and attentive staff. The room rate with breakfast was very acceptable for the standard offered.
The Tuna was very good but just a little overcooked, (hard to find something negative).
The breakfast/food in general was fantastic
Walls were quite thin in the bathroom - could hear our neighbours music when showering
Room was comforable staff were helpful and smiled a lot great breakfast
Walking up to the fourth floor no lift !!
The hotel is like a building site, with no leisure facilities, no lift, no staff to take your luggage to your room, no facilities to dry your hair (lack of mirrors with lights) very poor lighting in the room. No staff to answer the phone at 3am due to a disturbance on the 2nd floor.
Staff Room Breakfast Room facilities
These comments are based on the hotel under going extensive renovations, we will be staying here again. B&B only bar menu available throughout the day and evening No leisure facilities Hotel under renovation so very limited
We had to use the stairs because the lifts were out of use due to the re-build, the post Christmas exercise was good. The night porter spoke English and took our concerns seriously.
Others staying in the hotel were very loud but the night porter finally sorted them out at 04:15. The room design is a very male style (dark and square), the lighting was very strange with switches that had no function and even a light we couldn't turn off. Breakfast was ok, but the service was very inexperienced and failed to explain to us what was on offer. Maybe he just struggled with English?
Staff were excellent all round. I can see that once the hotel is finished it will offer excellent facilities.
I appreciate the rooms may not yet be finished however I was in a new room and whilst the shower was great, there was nowhere to put things like soap, shampoo etc other than on the floor. The tap on the basin was too high and the water ran over the sides of the basin. No shelves in the wardrobes so anything that could not hang was on the floor. No where to sit and dry hair in front of a mirror. Drawer in bedside cabinet all but impossible to open without breaking a nail!
freezing cold room on arrival (heater provided) Design of bathroom far too small Poor design of shower room.Shower room very small; nowhere to put toilet bag or to hang 2 towels. No rails or shelves! Supposedly an executive room?? Thermostat in shower not functioning effectively and water very hot so easy to scald....this needs to be checked room 220 as these are the newly designed shower room I think.
Comfortable beds Friendly staff
Building work not completed
The bed was very comfortable and the amenities in the room were great - tea and coffee, ironing board etc. The bathroom would have benefitted from some more storage space for our things and some towel rails though.
The décor was very modern but a little severe. Also the hotel was undergoing modernisation which was very apparent during our stay and this was not explained prior to booking. In the end this was not an issue but it would have been good to have been told.
All of the above
Breakfast bedroom bathroom
Staircase and lifts and also the view of the hotel through the windows in the dining room.
The hotel will look impressive once all the construction works are complete. The breakfast room is smart and comfortable.
We were booked in for a meal in the restaurant but because it was quiet they closed instead without telling us. We had to use an external restaurant. The hotel paid the transport. The building works make the place look like it ought to be closed until they are complete
Modern and spacious rooms Polite Staff Extremely Clean
Lighting in the rooms, dull
staff very polite and friendly
dark interior dark tiles in bathroom currently hotel is being refurbished noisy
Good location. Free parking. Free wifi.
Under renovation so most of the facilities were closed off. Unsightly entrance. Lift not working so dragging bags up and down to the 4th floor wasn't pleasant. Window in bathroom wasn't closing properly and there was a hole in the wall under the sink so the bathromm was freezing.
Considering the Hotel was undergoing refurbishment the facilities during our stay were still excellent.
We didn't like having to use the stairs each time as the lifts were out of use.
the staff are just so friendly and helpful - nothing is ever too much trouble - as a group of team members this is our hotel of choice to stay when working away from home
nice newly decorated rooms recently refurbished good price
rude check out staff - Alan (from Jordan) - very abrupt - no customer service skills refurb works going on at hotel parts of it look like a building site lift was a long walkl away had to use stairs
I could not fault this hotel. You have to accept that it is currently undergoing extensive modernization to become a Crown Plaza. The public areas such as the bar and dining room are modern and comfortable. Our room was fantastic - modern, clean, comfortable and came with free wifi and complimentary mini bar with soft drinks and a chocolate bar. Room as described on the website.
I accepted that the hotel is being modernized - this didn't detract from my experience, we simply needed a bed for the night as we passed through. We are going to try and book again quickly as the cheap price we paid will undoubtedly rise significantly as the work nears completion - get in now - the rooms will not disappoint.
