In the heart of Gerrards Cross and renowned for its good food, fine wines and award-winning ales, Ethorpe Hotel exudes the character and charm that epitomize the traditional British inn.

On Clarendon Road, in the center of Watford, this Jurys Inn is a 5 minute walk from Watford Junction Train Station. The hotel has a 24-hour front desk, a bar and restaurant.
Score from 359 reviews Very good
Located on the scenic banks of the Thames, this hotel is ideal for Windsor, Legoland, Ascot Racecourse and London. Many rooms have small balconies and river views.
Score from 569 reviews Good
The staff were friendly and trying hard to do well in spite of the renovation work going on around them. The receptionist was very good and helpful
The breakfast was good but the coffee was awful and there was only basic coffee and tea in the room - no herbal tea
Despite unexpected major refurb affecting the majority of the hotel, the room and bathroom were superb, have stayed in many hotels and this room, even as a standard room is by far one of the best, very modern excellent king size bed, great 40" TV, free wifi and complimentary mini bar. Breakfast was excellent, staff very helpful.
Our room was excellent with a lovely bathroom. Check in was easy and friendly. We were very impressed by the complementary mini bar.
No obvious problems.
Hotel has recently become member of Mercure group and you could already see investments. Refurbishment in our rooms had already happened. Doreen (managing breakfast) was extremely kind and taking care about our wishes. Very nice and rich breakfast. Free parking.
Air condition was relatively loud and no user manual available in the room. You could switch off ac but an open window is not an advantage in the morning due to route near by. Elevators were not working due to revision. Nobody has offered help to get luggage into our rooms up to the 3rd floor. Upfront email that we would like to have rooms next to each other (young children!) were not considered and resulted in an (obsolete but successful) discussion.
Comfy bed Nice bathroom Clean room with good facilities
Building works so leisure club shut and works took place on a Saturday. Sticky labels on doors for room numbers looked awful.
Location and helpful reception staff.
Not being informed when i booked of the complete refurbishment of the hotel. In particular that the lifts were out of action.
The hotel is beautifully placed between Beaconsfield and Gerrads Cross. Also well located to Windsor. The room was very comforable
Dirty and a feeling of being 'miss-lead'. Regretfully i was not informed of the major refurbishment taking place therefore the hotel was dirty and cold with very few of the hotel facilities being available to use. The hotel reception staff acknowledged this with apologies but made no effort to offer a discount towards our disatisfaction.
Very friendly, helpful staff. Newly refurbished room with very comfortable, generously sized beds. Clean and contemporary furnishing. Some complementary minibar products in room and complementary toiletries provided. The hotel was easy to find due to clear sign posting.
Unfortunately the pool and gym were not open during our stay due to refurbishment. This, clearly could not be avoided during such a major refurbishment and I did not feel let down as it was not advertised as having these facilities.
Very comfortable, quiet rooms and an excellent breakfast. Good location, not too far from London and good stop over when travelling North.
Very little, but although the food in the restaurant was quite good, the wine list was limited and there was a lack of expertise by the wine waiter. A good cellar is essential at this level of hotel.
we booked the suite and it was the biggest waste of money. we had a view of the workers entrance. The room was definitely not a suite in my opinion. It wasn't cosy at all. There was an extra living space with vinyl floors and cheap chairs far away from the tv. No carpet. I would never stay here again. For the money i spent i could of stayed in a really nice room somewhere else.
Staff helpful. Rooms nice and well fitted.
You can hear every sound in corridor outside your room. The price did not reflect the amount of disruption caused by the renovations.
Our room 220 was a lovely room, even better with the free upgrade. Breakfast good but would sooner have a breakfast cooked when wanted.
No swimming (reason for upgrade) bathroom which was lovely but no room to put toilet bag or hang towel. Should of had a women design the room.
the room was lovely with it air con and free mini bar was great value for money.the room was very clean and comfy.the food was lovely
only down side is the pool was not open as they are doing up the hotel
Massive car park Near motorways and Beaconsfield Staff very helpful. There were some inconveniences due to refurbishment but the hotel was honest about this in advance and adjusted prices accordingly.
Screen on bath/shower and two shower heads: could not shower easily without drenching floor; no toilet roll holder or towel rail. Lack of co-ordination on management side i.e. room not cleaned until late when we had to ask. Room layout a bit awkward.
Lack of drawer space in room Lack of hanging for towels in bathroom
To much money, should be less because of building work being carried out
Location was brilliant for a wedding in knotty green and central beaconsfield. Room was contemporary and modern- lovely; Girl on reception was exceptional at customer service.
Breakfast at 9.20 am on Sunday morning hardly had any hot options, two rashers of bacon, no sausages or eggs; spa was under refurbishment - such a shame. Bar area was a bit clinical and uninviting.
the refurbished room.
we had no mains water supply in the room on the first night.
Woke up in the morning with ciggerette smell in the room, someone must of been smoking in their room. I did tell the reception lady but she wasn't too bothered. Bathroom so small that you cannot hang a towel. Or a shelf to put toiletries. View from the room was awful we could see rubbish from the on-going work.
Good parking. As I'm a bit disabled, the staff were helpful with luggage. Reception very helpful. Room service was efficient. The room was generally well appointed with fairly generous storage space.
Lack of towel rails in the en-suite. The view from the bedroom window.
Very helpful and friendly staff. Our room's airco wasn't functioning and they upgraded us immediately to another room. Parking on site. Good breakfast buffet.
Bathrooms are surprisingly small - we saw 3 rooms and all had the same. For example no hooks or bars to hang up towels. OK for single travellers but not appropriate for a double room.
Dining room and staff.. Location of Hotel.
No place for toiletries in shower, bad design. Not enough space between bed and desk.. No place for additional cases. Needs more drawers for clothing. View.......plus! When curtains are open being overlooked by other occupants.. An executive room it is not. Had problem with USA adaptor left message at desk for help..... No communication from manager. Asked for wake up call at six for early flight....did not receive. Thank goodness we had family in Chalfont St Giles who helped us. Would not return to the Bell House!!
The Bellhouse is being substantially refurbished - so it is rather silly to be asking these questions!
Room was good also food
Cost of WiFi this should be free for this class of hotel
Not much - the breakfast.
The hotel should not have been selling rooms certainly not on the first floor. We arrived off a transatlantic flight at 2.30 to a horrendous drilling noise which we were told would stop at 3 - it did not and to get to our room we had to struggle through building works and no lift. The work restarted at 8.15. The bathroom was incomplete - no toilet roll holder or soap dish in the shower - the water was either very hot to very cold and the basin was so big there was nowhere to put anything. The manage refused to come out and listen to my complaints but told the front desk girl -very nice - to take £20 off the bill - not enough in my opinion.
