Dating back to 1729, with Georgian period features and decor, this 5-star Guest Accommodation (AA) has a Best Breakfast Award (AA) and has featured in Johansen’s and the Sunday Times.
The bright, spacious rooms at Bellplot House feature modern facilities such as free Wi-Fi access and en suite walk-in power showers.
The excellent breakfasts use local ingredients. Later in the day you can enjoy a drink from the honesty bar, before discovering one of the many excellent restaurants in Chard.
Betty and Dennis Jones offer a very warm welcome to Bellplot House, who will always try to provide guests with everything they need.
Bellplot House has its own car park, 1 mile (1.6 km) from the A30 and A358 roads; 12 miles (19 km) from the M5 (junction 25). Chard is surrounded by Somerset countryside and is a good stopover point for those heading to Cornwall.

The land for the house was purchased in 1727 and this original plot was shaped like a bell, hence the name.

By Car:
From Taunton.
- Take the M5.
- Exit at junction 25.
- Take the A358 to Chard.
From London:
- Take the A303.
- Join the A358 to Chard.
Going up the main street, with the Guildhall on your left, the hotel is 500 metres up on your right-hand side. You will find it behind the flint wall and green laurel hedge. Drive in through the gates and park your car.
