It was close to the place I was visiting. Too expensive for the standard of accommodation. Sewerage water in the dining room & still kept open. No where to hang my wifes dress Breakfast wasn't that great. Ants in the bed. No discount after complaint

Comfortable bed. Nice fresh towels. Convenient location for us for a family party at the near by Canal Tavern. Happy with cost £51 including breakfast for 1 night. Nice breakfast. Modern dining room nice conservatory area although the view is of the car park. No bed side table or dressing table. The wardrobe was very ricketty and wobbled a lot on use. At breakfast we had to ask for Cereal bowls & milk as they were not on the breakfast table. When out tea arrived the waiter forgot milk in a milk jug, we ended up getting some from the 'breakfast table' and pouring some in a glass. The cereal bowls were not cleared from our cluttered table when our cooked breakfast arrived. We ended up putting used crockery on the window cill. We were not offered a 'choice' of white or brown toast even though it was stated on the menu that we would be offered this. Also the menu said 'choice of egg' we were served a fried egg without being asked. It was fine though. Overall lack of cutomer service, although the staff were pleasant.

Value for money was good at £45 b&b. Rooms were of a good standard. Location was nice and quiet away from any nightlife which was good as we stayed on a Saturday night. Bathroom was very outdated and tatty. Fire alarm went off at 7:30 am on Sunday which apparently was supposed to happen but was the first we'd heard of it.

The only thing that my partner and I liked, or rather could find no complaint with, about this hotel, was the dinner. Where do I start - upon arrival we were taken to our room which turned out to be a single, we were then taken to a second room, which was already occupied, then a third room which was meant to be a double but wasn't. This room also had dirty glasses on the side and a half full bottle of red wine left in the wardrobe. We refused this room and were taken to a fourth room which was bigger but looked as if it was in the middle of being redecorated, with paint splashes all over the bathroom floor and generally tired-looking. We accepted this room as we had been travelling for 4 hours and needed to freshen up. The room however had a window which overlooked the internal fire escape and was only covered by an ill fitting roller blind which let in the light from the fire escape all night! The bathroom was small and cramped and the skylight window had ben painted shut ( obviously some time ago as there were cobwebs and dead flies on the frame. The toilet did not flush properly and the shower worked spasmodically. We left the next morning after an uninspiring breakfast with reheated mushrooms, rubbery fried eggs and cheap, gritty sausages, certainly not the same quality as the food the previous evening. The staff were friendly and attentive but very inexperienced. When we asked for two Amaretto's with our coffees, the waiter cum barman cum receptionist cum kitchen porter had to go and ask the chef if the had any and we heard the 'no' reply from where we were sitting. Ironically I had to show the waiter where the Amaretto was on the bar shelf!! We were highly amused and somewhat confused by the certificate of excellence from a well known travel review company on the wall at reception. Although the write ups on this establishment had claimed a total recent refurb of the hotel, this was certainly not evident from the rooms that we viewed and ultimately stayed in, although the bar area had obviously undergone some improvements.

Excellent and very friendly staff, great value for money, and a real sense of pride and ownership of their responsibilities. Rooms were simply furnished but spotless and very comfortable. Great breakfast too. Sandwiches when we arrived after the restaurant had closed were excellent, very fresh, and provided very willingly too. Location isn't ideal, but any qualms about that vanished as soon as we entered the very welcoming interior. Great place to stay, and lovely people.

The service and welcome were impeccable, food was very good, our room was for a disabled person and although a few minor adjustments needed and it was quite small, it was manageable. All in all, a very lovely weekend stop over. We will be staying again!!! Great value for money on a budget. It is currently undergoing refurb, and staff and management are working very hard to addres this. We did not have any problems whatsover with this, but others may liketo be informed!!!!

The bed!!!! Absolutely comfy. Friendly and smiley staff and nothing too much trouble. The layout of where breakfast was great, reminded me of bistro/cafe which looked welcoming and comfy and also a separate restaurant. The bar seemed well stocked and the breakfast menu was vast and to most people's tastes. Overpriced as it was quite a small room compared to others we saw. I think rooms should be priced as per size and decor. Our room, especially the bathroom needed updating. The Belmont is an up and coming hotel and I think overtime it's going to end up quite a nice place to stay. Tea at breakfast was luke warm and the full English breakfast could have done with being hotter.

The staff there are very helpful and friendly and I must thank again the manageress for kindly taking us to the party venue we were attending. The room was clean and comfortable and the cooked breakfast was good. If we were in the area again we would certainly stay there again.

The friendliness of the Belmont staff was very good - they couldn't do enough for us. The food was very good in both the Tapas bar and the restaurant, with lots of choices so much that we couldn't make our mind up! We opted in the end for the Taps - it was very good! The staff asked us throughout our stay if we needed anything. We wouldn't hesitate to book the Belmont Hotel. I'm sure it has seen grander days but lounge area with bar was more than adequate for our needs. The bedrooms were dated but very comfortable, with clean linen and towels. Plenty of car park space right next to the hotel. We enjoyed our stay. There was nothing I really didn't like about the Belmont Hotel. I'm sure in its 'hay day' the Belmont was one of the top of the hotel for visitors, and it probably could do with a more modern image to its look. But it was clean, tidy, welcoming - the food was good, the bed comfortable, the staff very friendly - We didn't need much more!

The staff were very friendly and helpful Overall I was disappointed from point of arrival - I thought I was in the wrong place and even went online to check - as the photos on booking.com in no way match the actual state of the run-down building. My room was anything but what the photos showed, with uneven flooring, croaked walls and ceilings and to top it off - a lot of mould on the walls - which should have been noticed by staff as it was obvious. The place felt dirty and grubby, and I feel booking.com and the hotel grossly misrepresent the hotel with its photos.
