“We found the Belvedere very homely and comfortable, and owners very hospitable and friendly, and would recommend other friends.”
Victor,
Whyteleafe, Surrey
Overlooking the beach, the Belvedere Hotel is just 5 minutes’ walk from Sandown Pier and the town centre. Many rooms have sea views and some have balconies. All the sights on the Isle of Wight are within 45 minutes’ drive of the Belvedere. The Fishbourne Ferry Terminal and Newquay town centre are a 20-minute drive away. Blackgang Chine, the world’s oldest theme park, is 12.5 miles away. The Belvedere’s restaurant serves British and international dishes, including locally-caught fresh fish. Both cooked or continental breakfasts are available. The bar serves a range of beers, wines and spirits and overlooks the sea. The sun terrace also has sea views. All rooms have a TV, tea/coffee making facilities and a bathroom. Some have views over Sandown Bay and the beach while others overlook the town. Hotel Rooms: 10

I am very happy with the location of Belvedere hotel. It is situated in the best possible location in Sandown along the beach side. Room interiors are good, so are the hotel staff. We enjoyed the English breakfast. But the exteriors of the hotel doesnt seems to be maintained well, looks rusty and old from outside.

Location Not very welcoming. We didnt particularly need anything from them service wise...we were there for a night and didnt intend to spend anytime in the hotel. However, the minimal interations we did have wernt in any way friendly or hospitable. The atmosphere was were much as if we were an inconvenience...not paying guests! No details about breakfast were given (which was included)...so by chance we just about made it at 9 when the kitchen was closing...which they obviously wernt chuffed about!

The hotel was in a fantastic location. It was comfortable and clean and we were delighted that our 'town view' room turned out to be a 'sea view' room with a balcony. The owners are friendly but not intrusive and made us feel very welcome. The restaurant serves excellent food at very good prices in an excellent location. They also serve you at the table unlike most other local restaurants who require you to queue at the bar for food and drinks. We will definitely return to this hotel; maybe even within the next few weeks.

The location was excellent.near to shops and sea view room. There was approx 3sq foot of carpet that was absolutely threadbare next to patio door looking out to sea.the lock was missing on the patio door and when it was closed there was a 2 inch gap as there was only a bolt at the bottom holding it. There was dust and bits of paper under bed.2 Beds in room which made it hard to get around.

Room clean, nice towels and bedding but I would have liked someone to say about the extention lead in the drawer not rocket science. Not told on arrival that the extention to the tv was in a drawer, asked at the bar but no-one seemed to know.So never sorted the tv out. The other guests!!! Spent the whole night shouting and screaming and running then corridors banging doors. Owner had to come and tell them at about 3.30 they were to leave the Hotel. In the morning we had to mention this to him and no discount was given. He then said where you disturbed by the noise, well yes but we were the ones who had to tell him.Not really good enough.

Excellent location. We did not get the sea-view rooms but ask for them when you book. 1. We booked the hotel through booking.com and it was confirmed. Around two hours later when we reached the hotel, we were told that they had just received the confirmation and that the rooms were still being prepared. We were asked to hang about and come back in some time. However, the rooms were sorted out sooner. 2. The shower motor made a loud whirring sound in one of the rooms (no. 17) and was quite irritating. 3. Being a Saturday night and the rooms facing the town there was lot of street noise. 4. There is no parking at the hotel and it's difficult to find a bay close by on peak days. 4. The breakfast minimalistic and was not up to the mark as compared to other BnB'S. 5. For the breakfast we asked for a table that had a beach view, but were declined - saying our table was already laid out when we could see many empty tables with a sea view. When we explained this reason we were told a firm 'no'. 6. The television in room 17 did not work. It's placed on top of a cupboard and the cord does not reach the electrical outlet.

I booked the last room in this hotel on Friday at about 10 pm for the following day with view on the town thinking i would certainly be disappointed, but when we arrived, although they couldn't find our booking first (they had had a printer problem I believe) they said they had a room with balcony with view on the sea. Believe me this made all the difference! I would certainly recommend this hotel if you get a room with view on the sea. Sandown is also a very nice area. And all the staff were really friendly.

The Belvedere Hotel was situated right on Sandown seafront with very good access to all major routes and the town centre. Although it's not a luxury hotel, you pay for what you get; it's quiet, clean and the owners and staff are very friendly plus the views from the seafront rooms are amazing. I'd quite happily stay here again :o) The balcony door was a struggle to lock properly and the bathroom was very small.

We liked the fact that it was overlooking the beach. The view from the balcony was amazing and unexpected. The local bus stopped right outside the entrance, which was great for us as we were without a vehicle. The breakfast was great and other meals were certainly substantial. We would use the hotel again as it was adequate for the purpose of our visit. The space in the room and bathroom was very limited. The furnishings were very dated. The worn out carpet by the balcony door was a "put off" as soon as we walked in the room. However it was clean .This is not a luxury hotel but for our short stay was good.

The staff were very friendly and very hospitable. The seaview and coastal views from the balcony of our seaview room was excellent. The breakfast was very good but could have had more selection of cereals to choose from. The location of the hotel is excellent as we found the beach was just across the road on the esplanade and the front of the hotel led you straight into the town of Sandown. If you choose a room with a seaview, there are bars either side of the hotel that are open late with some nights into the early hours of the morning so you have to put up with the noise of other islanders and tourists drinking and listening to music. One evening there was someone doing kareoke badly at half 1 in the morning. The shower door was also very stiff to open and close and didnt close properly.

Unfortunatley there is nothing that was liked about this holiday except when we left. The hotel needed a redecoration and also they need to update there facilities. Also the hotel bar was meant to be open till 23.00hrs but was closed by 22.20, and whilst having breakfast the owner was drinking double whisky he then tried to charge for the room again although it had been charged to me before i even arrived even though it stated that you have until 22.00hrs to check in before being charged i arrived at 21.15hrs and they had already charged my card.

The owners and staff were realy nice and the food in the Davilles restaurent was great The sea view could not have been better When we arrived the owner did not seem to be expecting us. The room was very small and it also had a single bed, so it made moving around the room differcult. The tv was the smallest I have ever seen and it only had 4 channels. I thought there was no such thing as anolog any more But the worst thing was the view of the dogs poo on the balcony below it was there and added to the whole time we were there. It ruined a real lovely view of the sea

Position, that's the one and the only one. Can't walk in the room because it lacks of space. Can't lock the door of the balcony for the safety. Can't check out by credit card and we were not informed beforehand.

Location The cleanliness of the hotel was good, however it was very tired and needed some attention, TV in the room only had two channels with no remote and was very old. The en-suite was clean but not appealing the toilet hardly flushed and I had to top it up with water to enable a flush. Overall you could not criticise the cleanliness or staff however the overall comfort I would probably not use again as the family room was somewhat restrictive and not particulary safe as bunkbed ladder led onto bedside cabinet and the ladder was little shakey, tea facility no plug near kettle so you had to plug this on the floor, my son was 8 so he was aware of the dangers however younger children I would worry about the safety. There was not hairdryer though this did not cause me any problem for myself however my daughter occupying a rooom next door it did. I am sure other travellers maybe entirely satisfied with the accomodation, however myself would most likely not wish to stay here again.
