Ben Craig House3 Craigmillar Pk, EH16 5PG Edinburgh (Show map) Good, Score from 102 reviews“The friendly welcome and the attractive, individual decor in the large bedroom plus the availability of tourist map and travel information given on arrival. This hotel was excellent value for money for a visit to Edinburgh and a 5minute bus ride into the heart of the city.”
Helen,
Sheffield
Ben Craig House is close to a very good bus route into central Edinburgh. It has rooms with free Wi-Fi and free parking. The quiet Victorian guesthouse is just southeast of the center of the city, which is within walking distance. Ben Craig is well located for many Edinburgh Festival venues. A good breakfast is served overlooking the grounds. Hotel Rooms: 10

The cleanliness - outstanding , the breakfast - superb, staff very helpful. The room - the bed was poor quality, flat pillows, no usable bed side table, had to stand the kettle on the floor to use it. Beadspread was past its use-by date, blinds broken, toilet roll holder rusty. A little refresh would improve matters considerably.

It was a comfortable room and the bed was very comfortable and clean. The bathroom was cleaned each day and the tea and coffee topped up each day. It was very cosy and like a home from home experience. The only comment I would make is we were very close in proximity to the kitchen and we could hear conversations going on from our room. This made us aware of the lack of privacy in respect to others being able to hear our conversations.

It was right at a bus stop. Breakfast was very good. Poor wifi connection, hard bed, bizarre and difficult to use tub/shower

Good access to city and to city by-pass. Relatively quiet location. Value for money. Very pleasant, welcoming, helpful staff. Nothing major; parking could be improved given that we selected bc for its (stated) good parking and we phoned ahead to check on parking - response was a little misleading.

Location was fantastic with the bus stop right outside the door. 5 minute bus ride to princes street. Bed was rock hard. Room was on first floor near breakfast room and front hall, we heard everything going on outside the room, so were conscious about being heard ourselves.

It is a charming bed and breakfast near the center of Edinburgh. The rooms are large and elegant with high ceilings and nice touches such as towel warmers. The breakfast is free with a wide choice of options. The staff is very friendly and efficient. A great choice.

Helpful, friendly staff. Lovely large room with comfortable beds. Breakfast, taken in the conservatory breakfast room, was good with plenty to choose from. About half an hour walk to Edinburgh centre or excellent bus service outside the door.

the staff were all really friendly. breakfast was good - full english and only expected a continental so that was a big plus. we had a large family room which was also a plus as our friends got a double which was much smaller for the same price. parking off road was good and the bus stopped right outside the door taking us into Princess Street - great. no sitting room to meet up with friends

The Guest House was very clean and to honest we couldn't fault the welcome but we did miss the true Scottish welcome which we had received earlier in our holiday. Maybe this is a sign of our times! The room was good for a city room although the bathroom was very small. Whilst we can't really complain, there was a strange feel about the place but maybe this is us as the French seemed quite happy and I think that says something! Breakfast was filling but cooked stuff was greasy. We chose the place because of the parking and were lucky to get a parking place in the back and this was secure (only one place at the back and it's first come first served). However, parking at the front is limited and the alternative is road parking which is not the impression given. It was a fair walk into town (20-30 mins) but we didn't mind that too much. Nice gardens and well maintained. Overall a good stay.
