Loved the friendliness of the owner, very relaxed, rooms were lovely, all individual with attention to detail. The biggest surprise was that they had a hot tub you could hire by the hour which was perfect after a days walking and was a big plus factor for returning to this hotel.

staff very helpful, even put a extra bed in the room when they discovered we were a dad and two teenage boys. breakfast was very good. only, issue I have was the plumbing. we were on the top floor and you had to run the water for 5 mins to get hot hot water and then the pressure was poor.

The staff are friendly & helpful. The room is nice and big with special four-poster bed which is fun. Nice breakfast and convenient location. Wi-fi is poor inside the hotel room and the shower curtain was too small and was broken.

The staff were very helpful and welcoming - good customer service. Not really a dislike as such, but the Hotel looks tired and in need of some decorating - also, we were amused by the eclectic mix of objects in the dining room.

The hotel was very centrally located (we needed somewhere in between Derby and Alton Towers). It was in the town centre and parking was safe and adequate at the rear of the hotel. David, the hotel owner was extremely pleasant and always obliged with every question asked. The breakfast was really good - a large cooked breakfast freshly prepared with an abundant amount of toast and cereal to go with it. Rooms were comfortable and clean. The hotel is not a modern hotel and therefore the rooms were fitted with four poster beds and had an older feel - but this was not a problem for us. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would go back.

The owner was very friendly and helpful without being intrusive. The hotel had a relaxing atmosphere with decor reminiscent of the early 1900s (when it was built) yet contained all the modern facilities we could want. Bed was comfortable, room and bathroom a good size. Very convenient for exploring the centre of Ashbourne as well as the surrounding countryside. We hope to go back sometime.

Lot's of character but was a bit quiet, Nice views over the picturesque town of Ashbourne. Ian W (Warrington) Shower was cold on the vening we arrived and room was a bit chilly too on what became a cooler evening ( The heating wasn't on). The post code for the hotel doesn't seem correct. It gives inmpression that it's right in the town centre (according to my sat nav). In actual fact it's approx 500 yards from it.

The room was lovely, very comfy 4 poster bed and lovely thick bathrobes. Also the hot tub, which was included in our room rate. Never been in one before - it was a really great experience. The breakfast as well was lovely and plentiful. David was a very helpful and courteous host. The hot water took a very long time to come through and then didn't stay hot for very long, which was a bit annoying when in the middle of taking a shower it suddenly went cold.

The main thing I look for when staying anywhere is the bed - as a good nights sleep is important to me! As soon as I felt the mattress I knew that I was in for a comfortable night. The bed had a memory foam mattress and was heaven. The breakfast was good and David the host was friendly and helpful. The room had a full size tv (instead of the usual portable small screen tv) along with the usual things you would expect. I would certainly use this hotel again. Some reviews have mentioned the creaky floor boards - they didn't bother me, what do you expect in an older building? At night I did not hear any other guests which to me is far more important.

Very dated room with old furnishings. Toilet smelt a bit and shower took ages to get hot. I wont stay again but I would say the service and friendly staff were good.

“I really haven't the words to describe my visit to this hotel. We booked to stay because we were going on a Ghost walk aroung Tutbury Castle. The room was beautiful, spotlessly clean, the bed was comfortable, bathroom perfect, tea making facilities. I Could go on and on. I will certainly stay there again just for the sheer luxury. All of the staff we met were most welcoming, made us feel special,. We ate at the restaurant at lunchtime, so much to choose from the menu, and had a full english breakfast in the morning, the food was beautifully presented and excellent to eat. At night it looked beautiful. there was never a wait for anything and the Staff were so obliging. I sincerely hope this portrays the feeling I had when staying at your hotel, if it doesn't then I don't know what more I can say. Thank you for a perfect weekend. Your staff are more than excellent.
