Excellent breakfast, one of the best we have had having stayed in many hotels and B&B's. Clean room with a luxury mattress on bed, making for a good nights sleep. Friendly, helpful hosts. Central location to Peak District. Overall an excellent hotel for a relaxing stay, would highly recommend a visit. Slight road noise heard whilst in bed. |

Massive room with comfy four-poster. Nice staff. Good food. Excellent base for walking the peaks or visiting other popular Derbyshire towns and villages. Beautiful building with an interesting history. One concern - the heating in our room just about coped with November but it was on full (I turned it up) Would it cope with Jan/Feb? The room was possibly a bit 80's - but thats only a problem if you don't like the 80's!! |

Location; food generally; staff and their readiness to please; good parking and location. Very dim lighting for reading; feeling of emptiness; over-softness of bed. |

The staff were consistently excellent in their service. They were attentive, but never rushing you. You felt that they would do all they could to make your stay the best possible. We ate in the hotel on 2 nights and throughly enjoyed all the outstanding meals. The room, bed and bathroom were also an excellent size. There were one or two minor problems, caused mainly by the age of the hotel. As we were warned, the water in the bathroom takes a little time to warm up. Some of the lighting on the stairs needs upgrading. Also, as we were warned, food was not available on Sunday evening and it was quite a challenge to find, on foot, somewhere to eat in late October in Ashbourne. |

The staff were friendly and the breakfast was second to none a very hearty meal to start the day with such choice, unfortunately we didn't get to sample the evening selection due to family commitments but the menu promised delights Would have liked choice of milk in room not just whole milk |

A nice Hotel with 'dated' charm. Friendly staff. Ashbourne is a very pleasant town with lots of nice pubs. It would benefit from an update. |

the staff were very friendly and it was very baby-friendly. very cosey, convenient hotel. The heating didnt work in our room so it was a bti cold at night. They gave us a portable heater but that had a very bright light so we couldnt leave it on during the night (esp with the baby). The hot water didnt always work, either. |

The staff were excellent- friendly and helpful. The room was well made up, and the facilities more than adequate. The steak we ordered as medium was extremely overcooked! The breakfast was fine- in fact, really very good. The chef was extremely accomodating as to particular needs, and other bar food looked ok. |

Excellent home-cooked English breakfast and free and fast wi-fi connection in the room, which is useful for booking hotels for onwards journey We were asked to pay extra charge for our boy (under 5) which was not mentioned in the website; we refused. The room is slighly chilly and the room smelled of mildew, probably from the toilet. |

Staff were pleasant and helpful. Room was adequate and clean. Breakfasts were very good and, although we didn't eat supper in the hotel, the choice on the menu looked good. Personally we could have done without music on the whole time, particularly at breakfast. |

The staff went out of their way to help with our requirements (they took care of a bag for us before we had checked in & after we had vacated the room as we were travelling on a motorbike to an event nearby & also let us have breakfast half an hour earlier than the usual time as we wanted to set off early the next morning too. The bathroom was very dated, the towel rail was hanging off the wall, the light above the mirror was constantly blinking & the water in the shower never got warm even though we left it running for at least 20 mins. I feel that £80 for 1 night was on the high side with this taken into consideration but the location was great & within walking distance of the town. |
