I liked the intimacy, the location, the view of a park from my window, the friendliness of the employees, the closeness to the University of Bristol (practically across the street), the nearby shops and eating places, the fresh fruit in my room every morning except the one day when the cleaning lady restoring what I'd eaten put a moldy strawberry back in my bowl, the comparatively cheap (5 pounds/24 hours) wireless internet inaccess, the cleanliness (except for a drop of dried urine that was on my toilet seat when I came into the room the first time). I would go back. I wiped off the urine and threw the strawberry away. The hotel is very nice, clean, and homey. The restaurant, lounge, and bar downstairs are convenient and serve tasty food. There is an exercise room that I did not have time to visit. Yes, although there were light blocking curtains, there was a spotlight at the top of the hotel that shown down on my windows all night long so I made good use of my airlines eye mask. The sea gulls were often raucus during the night but I had to keep the window open anyway as there is a fan provided but no air conditioning in this hotel. Regrettably I did not bring earplugs. |

Good location, near to everything but in a quiet, green square. Everything in the room as advertised, room size was as you would expect. The noise from the fan in the mini-bar, rather annoying in such an otherwise peaceful location. |

The staff were good, the food was very good with very good waiting staff. I liked the style and ambiance. Despite my negative comments below I would stay there again. My room was too small. It felt like sleeping in a corridor. In the bathroom to sit on the WC I had to put my right arm in or over the towel rail, fortunately I had not turned it on. Had it been on the arrangement would have been unbearable. Even with the window open the room was too hot. With the window open there was considerable noise from outside. |

The Berkeley Square Hotel is a modern hotel in a nice location - there are nice little touches (cafetiere; a small decanter with port; fruit bowl) The rrom was too small to be completely comfortable - it felt rather claustrophobic. |

Comfortable, friendly, distinctive atmosphere, individual touches such as fresh fruit and sherry in room - arty and slightly bohemian. Excellent food, including really good room service. Conveniently situated, good internet access (although had to pay). no free broadband access |

The atmosphere and tasteful decoration The single room was very small. As I was there on business there was not a lot of space to work in the room, but ti was otherwise pleasant, light and well appointed. On my second morning I breakfasted later and there was little fruit left and no brown toast. |

Friendly staff, very comfortable. Liked the projection of film on the bar wall.Everything bright and cheerful. Small point but would a rug or runner of some kind improve the appearance of the reception hall, stain is showing the wear and tear of many feet |

My 11th stay at the hotel, the staff are always friendly and the rooms clean. However, the rooms could use a little TLC in the cracks around the ceiling. |

I was very pleasantly surprised with the extra welcoming gadgets: fresh fruit, a small bottle of (free !) sherry, coffee machine with freshly ground coffee. size of the room too small |

location The central heating is on a central timer and goes off in the evening until the next morning - more like a 1970s B&B than a hotel in this respect - they also need a 24 hour lift repair comany as the only lift was out of order for 24 hours. Damp in bathrooms - rooms need some attention re decoration |
