The restaurant is excellent, and the location in the centre of town is very convenient Our room had no cupboard or wardrobe for hanging clothes, just a few pegs for coats (but no hangers), and no chest of drawers, so we were essentially having to live out of suitcases. Also, there was no radiator or heated towel rail in the shower room, and even no plug in the sink! Very poor really, considering the accommodation was quite expensive. On Sunday (when the restaurant was shut and there was no-one around), we got back to find that the room had not been cleaned, bed not made up, coffee/tea not replaced etc. To their credit, we were given a discount for that night when we complained.

Berties is a beautiful place to stay. The room was stunning and the staff went out of their way to make our stay. Only shame that we didn't have the chance to eat in the restaurant which looked amazing and according to friends who live in Romsey, is the best place to eat!

Breakfast was excellent, and staff on duty at breakfast and at bar were good. Car parking dispute with neighbour and clamping threat in a tiny car park over shadowed everything. The bed and furniture were poorly made flat packs, and the mattress was thin and uncomfortable. For the same money we have a luxurious room in Warwick, and the difference is like night and day. Furnish rooms properly, sort the car park, receive guests before 6pm, or halve your rate to a more appropriate level. This is backpackers standard at full rate.

The location was superb for me - just a walk away from where I needed to be. With a free car park As the hotel is shut all day, I could not get in until 6pm therefore had to wait 45 mins in my car. Had I been told about this I would have been prepared for it. My room felt as if it hadn't been clean. The bin hadn't been emptied and there were hairs all over the bed. Due to the size of the sink you could not fill the kettle up very easily.

This is best descibed as a restaurant that has a few rooms above it. My double room was essentially a single room with a double bed. It was fine for me, but would be very cramped for two people. Having said that, it was clean & comfortable and the food in the restaurant was good. The staff were very good though. I would not book again at the price charged as it isn't really good value. No major complaints as a single traveller. A coat hook or two wouldn't go amiss as would a better choice at the beakfast bar.

The charming town and countryside. Breakfast was excellent Wardrobe full of bed linen so no place to hang cloths. Just one flat uncomfortable pillow each on the bed.

The food was absolutely fabulous. It was well presented and very flavoursome. The room on the other hand was a great dissapoinment. On the very few photos of the room on the website it appears to be light and airy hallways and the room itself were dark and dreary. The mugs and glasses on the drinks were dusty and stained, did not feeling comfortable using these shower very tiny not much room to manoeuvre. Large gaps at the bottom of some of the doors for example rm 1 as well as ours rm 9 this does not guarantee privacy as people passing by can hear what's going on.

Chosen as we had a reunion dinner booked. Very convenient for a shopping trip into Romsey the following day. Excellent food. Friendly atmosphere. The meal was served at the right pace. The service felt personal and we all had a good time for good value.

I liked the decor which was clean & fresh, as was the bed linen. We had a family room for the 2 of us, so a nice size. Our other travelling companion had a twin room for her self, but would have been very small for 2 people. Staff were pleasant. For the money I expected breakfast to be included, not extra. There was no hairdryer or dressing table with mirror, and there was no electric socket near the one mirror, so I had to dry and style my hair without, which is a simple thing but very important. Also no hooks or shelves in bathroom to put anything. Plus bed was very rickety and creaky every time someone moved.
