Food Excellent quality, building has a lot of Character.
Very small room and incredibly tiny (smallest I've ever experienced) shower/toilet. WIFI slow and patchy..
Hotel frontage and grounds Room size and comfort Relaxed atmosphere
Over priced drinks No steak knife with food Poor quality wifi
The best hotel I've ever stayed in! The staff were brilliant and the hotel itself is beautiful just out of this world and very unique would recommend to anyone!!
No bath in room No full length mirror Plug sockets not close enough to a mirror
Food great place as we'll
Great welcome, grounds were lovely, large room and interesting furniture, huge bed with a very comfortable mattress and lovely clean sheets. Nice bathroom, room nicely aired when we arrived. Breakfast was nice, full English went down well.
Some maintenance needed in the bathroom, coffee facilities in room would make one cup of coffee only (and not a great one either), and we had to plug the kettle in by the bed as there was no plug nearby.
Pretty much everything. The staff were very friendly and very helpful. We had the a la carte menu and it was lovely. We will defiantly be going back.
Amazingly appointed room in the main building. Very helpful staff. Beautiful location.
Lack of air-con in out house rooms and access was tricky with suitcase on thin metal spiral staircase Rectified by moving rooms, very polite and helpful staff, thank you
Welcoming staff, beautiful location, stately home feel
Room, staff friendliness, bed, bath room, balcony, bunnies on the lawn, service, wake - up call, view.
Bath was broken, few other little repairs where needed in the bath room. bumping my head on the beam. the price of the wine. the fact that having to leave at 02.00 in the morning to catch a flight meant that we did not get the opportunity to eat with you. forgetting to drop off the "enjoy meal for 2 for free" cards.
The hotel is fantastic.
WiFi is slow but do not let this put you off
Breakfast The room was lovely Good choice of refreshments Asked whether I needed any help Bedroom location Quiet room TV was great Bed was extremely comfortable
Service when I first arrived (there was nobody to introduce me, I checked in with no customer service and was shown to my room by someone who was very nervous and barely said anything) however breakfast was so much better When offered dinner I was handed a sandwich menu - I ended up driving to find a restaraunt I was advised there was a welcome pack with room service yet couldn't find it For the cost of the room I didn't feel they went that extra mile
Service was excellent. Room was unique and comfortable. Grounds were lovely. Food was too notch.
Although a great experience, Troya was a fairly noisy room from 7am until 11pm as the bed lies directly over the reception area. You can hear the phones and what everyone is saying-staff, take note!
The character, décor, upkeep, comfort, attention to detail. Excellent food and atmosphere, beautiful and relaxing. Would love to stay again.
Kitchen fan outside of window which in fairness was turned off at a sensible time. Could do with one less sofa in room.
Beautiful hotel, a real 5 star experience. Would definitely stay again.
Wifi was a bit patchy.
Excellent grounds and accommodation
Poor wifi service
The combination of surroundings, quality of the building and furnishing of the Berwick Lodge exceed everywhere else I have stayed or am likely to. Staff were for the most part excellent. I slept very well. The food choice was limited on the evening I was there, but we ate well at a reasonable price. There are a few details of maintenance that need to be taken care of, but these did not spoil my stay or weaken my praise.
I don't use satnav and on this occasion I did not check driving directions, so I wasted some time in finding the hotel. There is no access from the North, East or West. The only way in is from the B4055 Station Road from Henbury, heading towards the M5; then just north of the railway line turn left at Clifton Rugby Club.
Location, gardens, rooms, bathrooms, really friendly staff. Hard to find a fault.
A little bit short on amenities (although of great quality), especially taking into consideration every bathroom has a bathtub... so a bath bomb or melt would be great.
The gardens were beautifully kept & full of Spring flowers. Parking was good.
No way is this a 4/5 star hotel, except for the inflated prices! Our experience overall? Very disappointing. The owners do not appear to act upon reviews; others have described the same problems over a period of time. Only two public rooms for guests; the dining room and very small cramped lounge. Bedroom suite was full of oversized reproduction furniture; wardrobe drawers unusable as blocked by heavy sofa. No electric socket near to a mirror for hair drying. No safe socket for kettle. No glasses/mugs in bathroom. Bedside lamp broken; reported to reception but nothing done about it. Duvet too small for bed. Ladies public toilet at end of corridor past kitchen; banging, shouting and bad language audible. Only member of staff who resembled 4/5 star standard was Jérôme who acted as maître d’, waiter & receptionist. At check-in, Receptionist told us that as we booked through booking.com and got a 'cheap rate' that we would only receive basic services! We felt like second-class guests. To make matters worse, our booking.com rate was for room only, so with the extra £51.80 for breakfasts we paid more than the Hotel's normal B&B tariff! Food: Not fine dining. Be aware the glowing testimonials on the website refer to a previous Head Chef. Hotel had no olives for drinks. Very limited Dinner menu with dishes ‘unavailable’; the fish was overcooked; overpriced; poor service. Long wait for full English Breakfast; undercooked & overpriced. No Continental Buffet or juices. Awful coffee. Room service: only Bar menu, not 24 hour. The Berwick Lodge market soup of the day was the bright green leftover velouté from the snail starter the night before; there was no bread. Egg & cress sandwiches without cress; Salmon & handmade salad cream without salad cream. Chef had run out of salad! “The Berwick Lodge luxury hotel experience is unique,” claims the web site; our experience was uniquely bad
The whole setting of the place and the rooms were cosy with class..:-)....have stayed there before and will defiantly be staying again...it's top drawer!!!!!
very nice room and delicious breakfast, lovely park outside
key didn't work - couldn't lock the room
Bed was very comfy
Room was very cramped
The architecture, the furnishings, the décor, the art, the spacious and exotic bathroom with a view of the garden from the bath, the location.
Whilst the food was described as fine dining it was a little sparse in quantity. But the wine was excellent. The single track lane to the house is full of potholes.
Great hotel, superb suite, luxurious bathroom, excellent grounds. Can't really fault it. Staff were very polite and helpful.
It's a bit remote from local facilities and taxi fares into town are a bit steep. Not sure it would suit a lone traveller.
