Hotel is in need of refurbishment and cleaning in public areas. Hotel restaurant service was poor for breakfast and food choice limited.
Loved the amazing old building and it's location. Breakfast was good and having s nice lounge area to relax and have a drink was fantastic.
The corridor to our room smelt like someone had peed in it. Was quite offensive.
Beautiful facade of building and park
Rooms were poor in comfort and appearance.
the way the original building has been kept, rooms quiet, service good
rooms were a bit tired and in need of a bit of TLC some dusty corners in unused part of building
24hr check in
Rooms need updating Breakfast seemed overpriced for what it was Overpriced dinner and disappointing quality
Drink prices in bar were expensive
Building and location were great. We did not venture far to experience the additional delights as it was a short overnighter.
Some TLC is desperately needed. The place has a rather tired feel and the bar area was quite dirty and tacky. Please do not keep layering the paint on paint, it is NOT a good look! If it is done one room at a time, strip it back, make it fresh. You need not loose the character of the place by freshening it up!! I'm sure it would attract more and more regular custom. Good luck with it because we did like you overall. Also try to keep the breakfast displayed, fresh and available till service ends!
Fabulous old building with history, very quiet in the forest, breakfast and the restaurant really good.
Being initially given a room that was not cleaned and the door locks being hard to operate.
Good setting, capability of being a good country hotel
Staff had to be requested to come to serve at the bar. Slow service, in restaurant. Whatever do they do to the hot food - eggs like loft insulation. No soap in room, no tissues.
The staff are fantastic, a real asset to the owners!! The staff make the hotel what it is.
Dog hair around the bar area, not nice if you want to eat there
Fantastic historic building!
The food and staff in the breakfast room were very good.
Rooms in need of updating and redecoration
The hotel is located in a beautiful park, which is especially nice for hiking during the summer. The building has a lot of Victorian character to it, both outside and inside. The staff is friendly and helpful.
The shower stall is really small and the shower water pressure is quite low, so it is difficult to shower. Do check the size of the shower stall in your room.
Unfortunately we came from 6 nights in 'fresh, clean hotel with very comfortable beds' to 'gloomy hotel, plus extremely hard bed'. Fine for just the one night ... and sitting on the terrace and walking around the grounds in lovely sunshine did help.
Checking in and requesting that our breakfasts were cancelled. This was noted and agreed by the receptionist. Checking out the following morning we found that we had still been charged - because it we'd gone through Booking.com. Not impressed. Also, we hadn't realised that dogs were allowed in the bedrooms. Nothing against dogs - but not in hotel rooms?
The location, settings, accommodation, friendly stafff.
The room was clean bed comfy and very good having wi-fi
Did not like all the steps you had to climb to get to your room when carrying bags. Television reception not good
It was a very special experience to live in a castle and we enjoyed the park.
No cappuccino in the bar. Noisy on the last night of our stay.
The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Very professional. Breakfast was good. The room was good. Great history in the hunting lodge. Meals were really good.
lovely location nice green open space around the hotel.
it was all good.
TV did not work properly
Location and ambience.
Being able to bring our small dog was fantastic. The surroundings were great and the staff keen to help, especially as we were late for breakfast.
We were allocated a top floor room and getting our bags up the winding stairs to the second floor was tough and perhaps an accident waiting to happen. Breakfast cutlery was dirty. Room was clean but tired.
Such an amazing location.
Shower wasnt very good, it kept running hot then cold. The shower would cut out from time to time as well.
Nothing not to like
The location in relation to Patchings Art Centre
Breakfast was pricey and guests were noisy at 1am in the morning on the last night, Sat 7th June,
