Score from 164 reviews Fabulous
Of the three BWhotels we have stayed in this year THE BEST SO FAR.
Food and black sheep ale!
Noise from the road
Great staff.. Bedroom was lovely and pillows and bed were fabulous (almost better than home in the room I had!!)
Bit limited on the evening meal menu and a bit old fashioned...Need to get macoroni cheese, burgers, currys on the menu :)
friendly staff, pool, sauna
room was a little bit small, bed as well, breakfast was not the best we have ever had in a hotel...
Hotel was very cosy, staff pleasant and the breakfast was excellent. I had a single room with en suite which was clean and very comfortable. Function food was delicious.
Had a few problems getting into my room (54) as the key didn`t easily operate the door. There was some noise in the early hours of the morning which appeared to come from the street but apart from that, all was good.
Great staff very helpful, clean great food, really enjoyed our stay
Lots of dishes at dinner seemed to include chips
The location of the hotel for a trip into York was excellent. We then travelled on into the Yorks Moors and had a further stay there. The hotel is clean and comfortable and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. Boroughbridge is a lovely little town with lots of independent shops and some nice pubs for a drink.
When we arrived a warm welcome awaited us. All the staff were very attentive. The bedrooms were very comfortable although some bathroom fittings were a little tired looking. After a good night's sleep and lovely breakfast was provided in very pleasant surroundings.
Staff very helpful and polite.
Rooms too small. Beds too small. for the price charged.
Proper family rooms - easily and comfortably slept 5. Excellent staff - felt tips and paper to entertain the kids whilst at dinner. Amazing food - faultless; the best B&B in a longtime, a proper "hot" full english with plenty of choice for the kids.
Nothing. Would stay again tomorrow. Our new favourite spot just off the A1 for travelling "up" to the beautiful Yorkshire countryside or further afield.
The swimming pool was small but nice, though you couldn't swim properly if there were more than five people in. The leisure and reception staff was pleasant.
We were suppose to have been given an upgrade after the hotel had taken payment for the room four months before they should have and without my permission. I was gutted when I saw the tired looking room, the sofa was ripped on the corners of the arms, the chair seat was ripped and the so called throw was frayed. The four poster bed had no curtains, was a small double, with a lumpy mattress, there was no sockets beside the bed to plug in our lap tops, and a wonky old fan to keep you cool, if my husband and I hadn't been so tired and the hotel had'nt already taken payment we would have left. The night got worse when booked a table for dinner. We ordered straight away because we were starving, as we hadn't eaten since 2pm. Forty five minutes later our average meal arrived and we were made to feel rushed as the staff began set the tables ready for breakfast. There were only fourteen people in the restaurant and many had almost finished their meals when we gave our order. Later I saw a note in a frame saying something about taking their time in the cooking of food, if that isn't a red flag, then the receptionists comment that there was an Indian across the road was. After dinner I went straight on their website but there was no photographs of rooms, so I went on Booking.com and the room with the four poster is refered to as a double and an executive room. The manager tried to say that the room we had was an executive room ha. Look at the pictures of the other rooms and see which you would call executive. I have to say after my complaint the manager did not charge us for the food we ate. However I did not believe his tale regarding the four poster bed room as being an executive upgrade room. I would have rather stayed in one of the standard rooms if that was the case.
a warm welcome at reception cleanliness of all areas comfort of the room polite and efficient staff
It was a very comfortable hotel and the pool was very good compared to a lot of hotel pools. We ate dinner in the hotel and the standard of the food was excellent. The hotel staff and locals were very pleasant and friendly. We had a walk around the town which was very interesting and picturesque.
First and foremost the location, central to the town, taking up a corner position on the main road through Boroughbridge the hotel really looked very impressive with it's tudor style façade. The staff were all very attentive and cared for our comfort and well being. The food was of excellent quality and well presented in a dining room full of old English style and character. The lounges were beautifully furnished and very comfortable indeed. The indoor swimming pool looked impressive as did the fitness centre, neither of which we took advantage of, as our party were of a more sedatory group. Difficult to criticise any thing about the place, totally enjoyed our stay. T Malpass. Wolverhampton.
Staff were all friendly, helpful and efficient couldn't fault them Pool Room - surprise four poster bed! Location and free parking Lovely food reasonably priced
Room could do with a bit of updating
Good friendly service Good value for money Excellent food - both dinner and breakfast
Lovely sitting areas and dining area for breakfast
The food menu wasn;t basic enough on arriving on a Friday night we had to go look for a take away
A lovely relaxing weekend with staff always on hand
Quality of food.Secure car parking.Friendly staff.
Good hotel, efficiently run in almost all the ways that matter
slow service for evening meals
The leisure facilities were really good.
Room 55 should not be marketed as a double it is a single room! My husband (slim) & I (size 8) could not even pass one another, one of us had to sit on the bed so the other person could move. I had the tub chair removed from the room as I had to squeeze past it to get into bed. The bathroom I had to squeeze In between the toilet cisten & sink so I could use the mirror (as it was on a side wall) to put my contact lens/makeup on. The price was extortionet & it was not a last minute deal it was booked beginning of June.
It was lovely to be back in Boroughbridge staying at the Crown again. As normal the staff were lovely, the room was comfortable and quiet so we had an excellent night's sleep and a slap up breakfast to send us on our way!
Room upgrade following complaint, spa facilities, some staff were helpful and cheerful. Facilities were adequate, clean and, mostly, well maintained
Some staff seemed distant and unhelpful Despite the wife having a splint on her left wrist due to injury, and there being no lift, no offer was made to help with carrying luggage at start or end of week long stay. The first receptionist had rhe attitude of 'there your keys, room... Bye. Some staff let the side down. The village is just that, a large village, of an evening the only things open outside the hotel is the chippy and a few pubs. The hotel is expensive given the location, lack of lift, attitudes of offering only the minimum service required. Some places go out of their way to make your stay great. Here doesn't.
