Location, just off A12. Bed was good.
Room was cold. Decoration was tired. Toilet cistern was loose. WIFI didn't work. Bathroom needed refurbishment. Shower screen didn't. Single glazing. Heating went off overnight. Pricey considering the above.
Very helpful receptionist.
Was not there long enough
Welcoming, helpful staff. Comfortable, organised hotel. Good restaurant.
Throughout the staff were extremely pleasant and very helpful
My room although it was very comfortable, it did not carry a set/book of hotel rules/facilities
They found us a room.
They didn't have our booking, although we had a confirmation from bookings.com, the hotel tried to blame bookings.com, although I think it was the hotels incompetence.
Nice change from budget accommodation for a bit of a treat.
A bit pricey considering room only and breakfast an expensive extra (so took up offer of breakfast with family nearby)
Nice and clean. Comfortable bed.
The shower temperature kept changing. The dial kept moving to very hot so had to keep a close eye whilst showering! Also, no mini bar. Would've happily paid extra to have this as we needed a drink in the night.
Great sleep Zzzzz very nice bed in a lovely location
Very pretty hotel, pictures on this website don't do it justice. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Rooms were very hot, but have since been informed there was a fan in the wardrobe. I didn't think to look for one getting back late from a wedding reception. Lounge area could be bigger.
Friendly helpful staff Comfortable spacious room
the hotel was clean and the staff were helpful especially the receptionist
It is very isolated and quiet expensive by taxi to get anywhere nothing to do within walking distance
restaurant location miserable receptionist automatic addition of 10% service charge - rude! lack of reception in breakfast room
Excellent location, close to every place in Essex we needed to go. Lovely area. The building was well laid out and incorporated the old house with the newer hotel exceptionally well. The rooms were spacious, extremely clean, and quiet and restful. The building work in no way disturbed or inconvenienced our stay, you would hardly know there was any construction taking place. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially the night staff. Would stay there again and would recommend.
No bar fridge. The fringed curtain on the luggage/wardrobe storage was a tad annoying, but I was able to take it off.
Not a lot
No air con in room noise from ducting outside bedroom window stopped us from keeping window open
Location + room was excellent. The room was extremely clean. Breakfast was fine.
Perfume in the room was strong. We needed to let the air blow through the room, to let most of the perfume smell out.
A lovely relaxing cosy hotel. Room was lovely and comfortable, if a bit small if two people in it, but well furnished and clean as well as tastefully furnished.
Room was really hot, but it was a stormy night with very high temps. Could do with a ceiling fan anyway , would help generally. Breakfast could have been a little hotter as Buffett style.
Friendly attentive people
The pub down the road closing at 7PM!
Nice staff and easy to find hotel. Room was comfortable. Looked like had nice garden/outside space but didn't have time to look properly. Hotel apologised for renovations going on but I didn't notice these.
Wifi was slow in the bedrooms and hotel relatively expensive for what it was.
the hotel was very homey and comfy. I just felt very much at home and most of the staff were very warm and welcoming. The rooms were comfy as well.
The only thing was with a young baby a small fridge would have been handy, but the hotel admittedly offered storage in their fridge.
Easy to locate, friendly -helpful receptionist.
Heavy traffic noise.
All very good quality
quality of breakfast for the money
I couldn't get my phone to connect to the wifi
Friendly helpful staff. Good breakfast. Lovely bedroom.
The kindness of the staff - we were there to attend our son's funeral . The food was exceptional and the restaurant coped with a large unexpected party with grace and understanding. I'm sure we will stay again.
Partly our own fault - it took a lot of finding even with sat nav! A sketch map on the confirmation would have helped. PS a bath would have been nice but the plug just wasn't up to the job!
Excellent facilities and caring staff
